This was fun. It rhymes well. And the artwork is all watercolor and maybe part collage. Not quite sure. It is unique which makes the book stand out. Teddy is just a bear and a best friend who’s there for everything. He’s a protector he’s a hero, and he’s what every little kid needs.

Teddy, Teddy, Holding Back the Dark by Levity Fox is a lovely and cute picture book about a brave bear who keeps his owner safe. I love the easy-to-read rhymes and the vibrant art is so adorable!

This quick and easy-to-read adventure follows a brave bear named Teddy as he protects his owner Liv from the monsters who come out to play at night.

This is a simple but sweetly charming and engaging book which will definitely keep children entertained! It can also be a nice and reassuring treat for kids who are afraid of the dark as well as those who may have trouble sleeping at night. The rhyming storyline is fun and easy-to-follow. I like that Fox manages to naturally maintain flowing rhymes. Kids will have a great time reading this story out loud!

I love the fun full-page and full-colour illustrations! They are filled with great whimsical details and very nicely enhance the story. The art is so full of movement, colour, and life! I love the pages showcasing the monsters frolicking during the storm. I also cannot get over how cute Liv and Teddy are tucked into bed with their matching sleep masks! I particularly like how the colourful and fun typography builds excitement and fun as it nicely enhances actions and emotions.

A pretty decent comfort rag of a book, as a girl is trusting her teddy bear to keep all the night frights, monsters and other ghoulie things in the wardrobe away from her while she sleeps. The art is perfectly fine, and the verse is noteworthy for not sticking to just couplets if more rhymes are available. Obviously this is a book with an intent other than entertainment – it is here to restore faith in a bright tomorrow for those afraid of the dark, and of storms – but it's fun enough to be brought down from the shelf for pure pleasure instead.

While I love this concept (the heroic teddy bear fighting monsters and protecting their sleeping child), this didn't execute well. And my biggest complaint? A LOT of copy-paste artwork. Teddy and the child have a handful of poses, but the monsters? Every single one of them is the same image, just copied and pasted into different positions.

And even if Teddy has a few poses, the copy-pasting there is also pretty egregious. If Teddy is holding a sword, it's just his "arm held out" pose with a sword pasted over the hand. There's one instance of Teddy being in the exact same pose in two consecutive pages, just in one he's flipped vertically, with a cape pasted behind his back.

Items are pasted onto backgrounds with no attention to depth or scale. Even the girl's "sleeping" pose is just...her head. Her head, cropped and placed onto the bed, with nothing done to make it seem like she's actually under the covers. In face, the bed's covers are pulled halfway back, so we should see her arm or at least a shoulder, but it's just...a head. Very "Godfather."

My kid tolerated the reading, but didn't ask for a repeat.

I love everything about this book as did my 6 year old niece. The pictures with captivating (the snail was a hit) and the story itself perfectly describes the life of a teddy bear. Such a beautiful homage to our first best friends. Highly recommend

This rhyming picture book is the perfect bedtime story. A little girl and her teddy get ready for bed and once she falls asleep, teddy fights off all of the scary monsters and anything else hiding in the dark. It is a sweet, reassuring story for young children who may have nighttime fears or worries. I would recommend this book to parents of young children in the age 2-7 range. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!
