This lovely festive read emphasises the importance of family bonds as advertising executive Lucy Clarke, who has no family to call her own, finds herself snowed in with the Miller family in their large Scottish home. On the surface, the Miller family seem to have a perfect life, with plenty money from their shortbread empire, but there are tensions within as Glenda Miller struggles to stay out of her children's love lives - or lack thereof!
Elder daughter Alice has arrived with her boyfriend, but is afraid of commitment. Her brother Ross plays the field and younger daughter Clemmie seems determined to go it alone.
How will any of them find love and happiness, especially when they're snowed in? Fortunately, Nana Jean, the family matriarch is less sensitive to her grandchildren's privacy, and happy to interfere!
This was a warm and cosy read with all the right ingredients for a seasonal story - family, snow, plenty descriptions of festive food and drink, and the promise of romance.
The characters are all lovely, and along with the heartwarming exploration of just what family means, there is also lots of humour to keep things light.
Sarah Morgan is on top form with this one!
