For me a Christmas book is a story with a hug. This certainly fitted the bill. The story did not revolve around one couple but a whole family. The storyline is well defined and, with this type of romance, quite predictable. Just what you need for a quiet afternoon's read in front of a warming fire!
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for the advance copy of this book.
A delightful read……warm and atmospheric. As always, Sarah Morgan beautifully builds each of her characters and then intertwines their stories. The stresses and strains of this family’s life gradually unfolds as time together in their snow-locked home in Scotland forces them to face their failings and resolve family feuds.
Sarah doesn’t disappoint as the story with many strands becomes a beautifully woven whole. I was really sorry when it ended!
This story took place through the lives of Lucy and various members of the Miller family. I'm not really a huge fan of multiple POV because I tend to like some characters more than others. I do feel like the whole family was likeable in this book though, but there were still chapters I was more excited to get to.
Lucy ends up in a misunderstanding with the Miller family and ends up stranded with them and it's just a generally adorable and heartwarming book. It does have mentions of grief though, but this is handled sensitively.
I loved all of the family members and they seem like a chaotic and caring bunch. It was lovely to see relationships grow or overcome obstacles and I also loved the romance building between certain characters too.
Gave me a few giggles here and there and a smile on my face pretty much the full way through.
Thank you to Netgalley, HQ and the author for the review copy, provided in exchange for an honest opinion.
Cute lovely read 🤍
Be aware there are multiple narratives that can take forever to navigate through as there isn’t a clear direction when the chapters are switching.
When I start a novel it has to be clear and concise when you shift narratives. This particular novel didn’t do that element too well in my opinion.
So after that, there are Alice, Clemmie and Ross. With no plot as guidance here goes: Alice takes her boyfriend home to meet the parents also he proposed so I don’t know what she expected when your taking a man home at Christmas to meet the family, of course things are about to escalate in their relationship.
Clemmie is desperate for her own baby. Ross is all about work.
Funniest part is, with his siblings personalities and everything he really doesn’t need a girlfriend.
Light-hearted read that can be read at any time of the year.
Recommend on that aspect as the plot is good.
Such a good book.
I loved Lucy’s character and her tenacity. Ross was dark and brooding but with such love for his family.
Alice and her need to lighten up and realise perfection wasn’t necessary.
Douglas for his ability to learn from younger members of the family. Nanna was all seeing and all knowing. Glenda for showing her truth of letting her family learn from their own mistakes. Clemmie for her joy at just living her true life.
This was a lovely snowy Christmas book. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Snowed In For Christmas' by Sarah Morgan.
'Snowed In for Christmas' is this perfect Christmas novel that wraps around you like a warm hug. Multi-pov, you learn more context about the characters and their family dynamics which is perfect for this tale. Every character was perfectly written and developed but my favourite has to be Lucy. Lucy is such a strong woman who is loyal to her work but she also really did help the Miller dynamic and bounced off of their family constantly.
I loved this book and I'd read it again and again if I could.
I enjoyed this story. It took a few chapters to get into it but I am glad I persevered. There is a lot going on and it made it very readable because I needed to know what was going to happen. This is a story of family the ups and downs that happen in family's around the world so true to life.
Well worth reading this story it will make you laugh and cry feel elation and disappointed all at the same time. A perfect Christmas read.
Another wonderful book from Sarah Morgan. Christmas books are amongst my favourite and this one did not disappoint. I loved how the story wasn’t just centred around one person but many, showing their perspectives and experiences. We all love a happy ending but in this case we got multiple ones within the same plot, what could be better?! Thank you netgalley.
I totally love all Sarah Morgan books. The first book I read by this author was "Sleigh bells in the snow" and that book got me back into reading after several years not reading a book at all.
So needless to say I was really looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint. I loved it.
I especially liked Glenda and the role she playing in the home and could totally relate to how she felt.
I found the book to have a lovely Christmas feel. I would have loved yo have stayed with the family too!
Thank you for once again producing such a lovely book.
First I would like to thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for my free ARC.
This is the loveliest story – the tale of Lucy, the young lonely woman working her damndest, with no family, stumbling into a chocolate box Christmas that belongs to another family, namely Ross Miller’s family.
Everything in this story is designed to warm your heart – the dysfunctional large family who find each other’s truths again, the childhood would-be sweetheart, the girl with no family brought to tears by baking shortbread, and mostly, the copious amounts of snow. Of course there is not just shortbread, there is a bounty of Christmas goods enough to bring on everlasting hygge.
My advice, read this book if you want or are in need of warmth, inner joy, magic and comfort.
This is like a warm mug of hot chocolate wrapped up in a red festive ribbon. Perfect Christmas read, felt I was with the characters for Christmas - just lovely.
Me, who hates the festive season, reading a Christmas book? And months before Christmas?
That is Sarah's power! The one that makes me pick up her books as soon as I can and don't let go, it was hard to out down.
Three of the characters had something relatable to me and for that I am so grateful. Not many books achieve this these days.
Loved it!
When Lucy decides to drop off a proposal at a possible clients house just before Christmas she doesn’t realise how one trip will change everything.
The Millers are a big family with a well known business making shortbread. It’s Christmas and as always, grown up children, Ross, Clemmie and Alice will be returning home to see their parents and grandmother nanna Jean. But this Christmas visit has many reasons for it to be different to other years. For one, Alice is bringing her boyfriend home, the first time she’s ever done so. Second, a mystery stranger showing up just as a storm decides to bring a flurry of snow meaning the house is completely blocked off and leaving them all snowed in for Christmas.
I’m not normally one to read a Christmas book in August but when I saw the book on @netgalley I was desperate to read it.
This isn’t my first Christmas book by this author so I knew what I was in for. The story pulls you in to the drama of the characters straight away. There are some fantastic characters in the book but my favourite has to be nanna Jean. She’s brilliant and I’m certain we all have a nanna Jean in our families. Blunt, to the point and far too mature in years to fumble her words. A lovely cozy read that will pull you into the festive spirit, even in August!
It says everything that I read this book in August!
But hello, this is one of the best writers around and she's managed to do it again! This is a perfect Christmas read, it's heartwarming, uplifting, funny and sparkling! I loved it.
Thank you for the advance reading copy!
Lucy loves her job but her company is in trouble. She has to do a feature that includes reindeer. so goes to Scotland and also hope to leave a proposal for Ross Miller. She then finds herself snowed at his family home. Loved this book
I have got to stop requesting Christmas books from NetGalley in August! It’s 22 degrees and all I can think about is being curled up under a blanket with hot chocolate !
Sarah Morgan doesn’t disappoint with her new Christmas novel. We follow Lucy as she is mistaken for Ross Millers girlfriend and finds herself facing aChristmas family fallout with someone else’s family!
I was hooked from the beginning and would recommend picking up this book this festive season.
Sarah Morgan is the absolute Queen of Christmas! This is another sensational book which has everything you could want in a festive fiction read. It is a book that I will definitely be recommending as well as re-reading for many more Christmas times to come....
I enjoyed this book, real Christmas sentiment. A little wordy for me with an emphasis on what's going on in peoples heads not always necessary to read. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy
Could not have loved this more. It was totally predictable and yet wonderful reading too. There were lots of stories to focus on and I welled up so many times - not many books have that power. I loved all of the characters, especially Nana Jean! And was rooting for everyone. I couldn’t stop reading it, but I didn’t want it to end! Perfect Autumn reading!
I loved this entertaining Christmas family drama.
Told from almost every characters viewpoint the reader experiences the run up to the Miller family Christmas. Experiencing each person's concerns about the other family members as well as their own personal issues, it was almost like reading multiple books at once.
I think this was a really well written, amazingly festive tale and now I need to go find more Sarah Morgan books to keep this feeling going until it really is Christmastime!
