This book captured my attention because of the description on the back cover as well as the attractive front cover. Both of these things have been executed really well. On the other hand, the book did not live up to my expectations. The novel gets off to a strong start and provides quite an exciting ride for the first third of its length. After then, something happens, and the book loses its charm. I didn't find the conclusion to be satisfying either. The way that everything comes together at the end makes it seem very ridiculous in the end. Most of the twists which come in the last portion of the book seemed implausible to me as well. The narrative of the novel takes place in two different time periods, which definitely helps in both moving the story forward and assists in the development of the plot. I enjoy a good domestic thriller with a cast of suspect people, but this one lacked the suspense necessary to keep the reader involved and wanting more.
In a nutshell, the idea behind the book was great but was poorly carried out.
Tess and Oliver along with disabled son Mason are happily married but trying to keep a low profile in their community. Tess has a secret that she must keep hidden. However, Mason is not Tess or Oliver’s son, but this is not her secret. Tess has reasons to believe Olivier is having an affair and tries to retain his affection with a false pregnancy.
A fast-paced book with past and present timelines. It seems Tess is not the only one with a secret. The story unravels a complex tale to how Tess and Oliver are now living as they are. A really enjoyable, complex domestic thriller and certainly looking forward to reading more by L. G. Davis
I feel like I must have missed parts of this book whilst my mind was busy elsewhere so I am going to have to go back and discover a few facts. It was, despite this, a good story which I generally enjoyed listening to.
There are a few twists and surprises, which I can’t go into or it will ruin the story for you, but they made the story more exciting
This audiobook has a great plot and I enjoyed listening to it because it was really engrossing. I liked the characterization and the plot progression and pacing was really good. In fact, I believe that the pacing and tension are the two things that made this book such a huge hit.
Bit too unbelievable for me, I know its fiction but has to command some reality for it to draw me in. It was a bit like step ford wives meets the hand that rocks the cradle. it was the characterisations that didn't do it for me however the plot and layout of the story line was really good and kept things flowing right to the end. I did read to the end and thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook to review.

I got to be honest, I have up and downs on this book. Next chapter I love it, after I read the other one it feels the plot very familiar.
Story line was great but I find it repetitive.
The narrator though did an amazing job on this one and definitely deserves a 5⭐️.
- story of wife who has been loyal to a book club, friends with selection of ladies and 1 stay-at-home-dad. Tess was a great ‘mother’ to mason. Mason is in a wheel chair and honestly the best boy ever in there helping chores. Oliver is somewhat I’m annoyed about, I’m not getting on his point . I know that tess and him are hiding something , until the real mother of mason shows up. I love the ending though, not what I expect, but it was a heartwarming ending.

The blurb definitely caught my attention but unfortunately it was just meh for me. It started off strong and told in past and present timelines which is always a good story builder. I’m a fan of a good domestic thriller that has some questionable characters but this one really lacked the thrills to keep you engaged and wanting more. It was just a very flat plot and you could see what was coming early on. I found it boring and was hoping to get to the end soon. To begin with I really liked Tess as a character as she’s portrayed as very strong but that soon dwindles. I didn’t really care for any of the characters and I think that was down to the fact I didn’t really get to know them if that makes sense. Tanya Eby did a great job when it came to the narration.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to read #LiarLiar
Thank you NetGalley for the audio copy in exchange for a honest review. Tess and Oliver are married and live with their wheelchair bound son Mason. Tess finds messages on Oliver’s phone from another woman and takes drastic measures to save her marriage. It soon becomes clear they have dark secrets they are trying to escape from. A cleverly written thriller.
Liar Liar is the first novel I've read from L.G. Davis and I'm sure it won't be the last, full of twist and turns that leave you desperately trying to figure out what the secret is that Tess keeps alluding too,
Tanya Eby the narrator was brilliant through out and really helped keep me engaged.
Crazy fast paced thriller, it's insane.
Genuinely from the start I doubted every single and their motives. Betrayal and deceit is woven in to the novel seamlessly.,to the point you might root for the villain the whole time. The dark portrayal of family dynamics is absorbing I couldn't stop reading. The twists make you doubt your mind constantly.
A great claustrophobic intense domestic thriller

Story very well written & great narration. Fascinating characters, captivating plot & enthralling mystery.
Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC.
“To have, to hold…and to kill!”
I have not read anything by the author before in any format, but I was excited to start this audiobook. I am a huge psychological thriller fan, and this is up there with one of my favourites so far.
The distinctive storyline told in dual timelines, made me question who the villain is in this plot. Both main characters are unreliable, and I became deeply absorbed in this, that I managed to complete it within 24 hours!
The shocking and twisted storyline is well-written, perfectly paced, and kept me on the edge of my seat as I entered the disturbing world of Tess, Oliver, and their disabled son Mason. It is refreshing to read about a disabled child character, and this author’s writing style is flawless. Tess will appeal to readers as she describes caring for Mason daily, who is paralysed from the waist down.
Full of deceit and dishonesty, I was unable to predict the startling and astonishing conclusion, which completely blew my mind.
The narration of the audiobook makes this an engaging, gripping and addicting read, and I highly recommend it to any fan of this genre. This is a five-star read for me, and I will not hesitate to read more by this author in the future. In the meanwhile, I am off to download the back catalogue!
This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. I thought this book was written so well. Some of the twists i didn’t guess which is hard to do since i read so many of these books. I really liked all the characters(except the ones i wasn’t suppose to like). Good read overall and would highly recommend.
3 stars!
Tess's husband Oliver promises to never reveal her secrets, but slowly Tess can sense that he is losing his focus on her while all he used to do was be extra attentive. Tess suspects that he is having an affair - but why would he do that? And who is the Her in his phone.
The suspense was minimal in this domestic thriller - all in all a good quick listen.
I didn't like Tess's character, she came across as someone really strong initially and suddenly she lost interest on her boy friend and all she wanted to do was be the mother his adopted son never had - why are female characters portrayed this way?
The narration by Tanya Eby was good, but in some parts she really sounded very whiny when the narration was for Tess.
thanks to netgalley, Bookouture Audio, L.G. Davis for this advanced DRC in exchange for an unbiased review.
I really enjoyed this one
The plot built evenly and kept me interested to find out more. The characters were well rounded even if I didn’t care for them all. The twist was clever and I felt as if I had been well entertained. Would definitely recommend
I really struggled with this rating, not sure how to rate it. It was addictive but so far fetched and some plot holes that just were tied up without any closure. However on the otherside it really was addictive and I really did want to know what had happened especially to Mason and Dan.
So take it on face value and it is worth a listen. The narration was interesting but I got used to it
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
Never judge a book by its cover.
I loved this book's cover but I did love the book.
Not even a little bit.
Perhaps my expectations were elevated by the book's glowing reviews (did everyone listen to the same book that I did?), but this book was a total "miss" for me.
It was a domestic thriller that lacked thrills.
Quite frankly, I felt like I was listening to a bizarre episode of the Jerry Springer show.
I usually enjoy books with candid portrayals of dysfunctional families -- but not THIS dysfunctional.
I lost count of the number of times I cringed and said "This would NEVER happen in real life."
I listened to the audiobook and narrator Tanya Elby did a super job with the narration.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC for an honest review.
2 stars rounded up.
A solid read but I was not blowen away with the ending. It seemed no sense to me, but I guess that is just me. Or maybe I like the two times that the story was told. A disfuncional family, crazy, horrible people. Getting advantage and hurting others was in a way quite a dark listening. But more i went on more was interesting.
Thank you so much Bookouture Audio and Netgalley for your this audio.
This book has mystery and action. Similar feel to the girl on the train. Its split into two timeframes to give you a background of the past and present. Good descriptions of anxious feelings from the main character.
