Fun Christmassy book to put you in the mood for the season. It has all the trimmings you'll need unexpected drama,on again off again romance, crossed lines of communication,Christmassy atmosphere, festive and more.
The book moved at a quick pace and I enjoyed it.

Perfect feel good book to get u in the mood for the festive season. Another great book book for Jill
An unputdownable rollercoaster of a read. The opening is atmospheric and completely absorbing. Immersive, pacy and unputdownable. This is such a heartwarming festive story. A new festive favourite!
One of my favourite authors. Once again she has a hit. Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. Idyllic location that set the tone of the book to perfection. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season.
I dnf'd this book at around 30%. It was full of sterotypes on women, relationships, men, celebritiies and the characters had no substance. It was really flat and boring in terms of plot.
I didn't really like the female character as she seemed like a woman hater for some reason and she was honestly shocked that her ex boyfriend decided to breakup with her because he says she doesn't love him and she knows this and is still mad about it? Like I'm sorry I have no sympathy for the breakup.
The love interest was 1d and boring and I couldn't really get into liking his character and rooting for their relationship.
It felt like the book was written in fantasy and not reality which doesn't work for a non fantasy book.
Beth accepts a PA (Personal Assistant) position hours after her boyfriend of 5 years leaves. It so happens that the position is for a famous chef who is amazing, handsome and has a reputation for leaving women in the rear-view mirror.
Many descriptions of food which all sounds delicious.
Of course there are some mixed signals along the way.
This book didn't feel all that "Christmas-y", but it is Christmas at the end of the book.
Once again I thank NetGalley for introducing me to a "new to me" author who has published many novels (a dozen or more) already. Maybe This Christmas was the first novel that Jill Steeples wrote.
This honest review is in exchange for the opportunity to read the advance read copy of Maybe This Christmas. Thank you to NetGalley, Jill Steeples and Boldwood Books the publisher for the opportunity. Publication date is August 23, 2022.
I wanted to like this book because I’ve enjoyed other books by this author, but I found it difficult to engage with the characters in this story. I did not have much sympathy for Beth when her boyfriend dumps her, since she didn’t really love him. The story was quite predictable.
A lovely Christmas book by Jill Steeples. An easy, heart-warming read with great characters and setting.
Beth has just finished her latest temporary work placement and is looking forward to having some time with her boyfriend, unfortunately he has other ideas and tells her it's over and moves out
While she is feeling miserable another placement comes up to work with a famous but temperamental chef Rocco, Beth decides it's too soon and not for her until her sister who is visiting answers her phone and agrees to the interview on Beth's behalf. Left with no choice Beth goes to the interview and ends up with the job which involves months in the countryside
Could this be what Beth needs to be able to get her life back on track ?
Loved it
Beth takes a job with Rocco after her partner leaves her. Will she and Rocco become more than work colleagues, or will they be kept apart?
Fabulous old fashioned rom com!! All the cosy warmth of being wrapped up at Christmas with a bit of celebrity, food and family thrown in. Easy reading, fun characters that make you smile. Slightly predictable and that's ok and really enjoyable!!
Beth's life is at a turning point, when her boyfriend of five years dumps her and she is in between temping jobs with her agency. Instead of crying under her duvet all day, Beth finds herself at an interview with the charismatic chef Rocco for her next PA job. Her world is set to change from cramped make do life in London to enjoying the English countryside in all its beauty, and doing her favourite thing, organising!!
Really enjoyed this book from the first page......it was great!!
Cosy, comfort reading!!
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood books for the early read!!
This was such a wonderful Christmas book.
Your typical boy meets girl and confusion ensues but with the added elements of some really lovely characters and some beautiful countryside settings.
I enjoyed reading about Rocco and Beth, Lucy, and Sylvia - they were just such likeable characters.
I devoured this book in a single sitting!
Obviously, reading a Christmas novel towards the end of August was mad! But I was pleasantly surprised by 'Maybe this Christmas?'. This was my first novel by Jill Steeples, and my first Christmas novel of the year.
When I started the book, I was surprised by the lack of Christmassy things. Beth, the heroine, is dumped by her long-term boyfriend, Martin and her sister Lucy accepts a job interview on her behalf, much to Beth's protests.
Her initial impression of the book's hero, Rocco, was not the best. According to the media, he was a mean and grumpy chef with a bad attitude and a supermodel girlfriend.
Once the two characters come together, their chemistry is palpable. Beth's role is a personal assistant for Rocco, keeping his business and schedule running smoothly while they also share a home during this period.
I ended up really enjoying this book. The only criticism I have was that 30% into the novel, Beth already admitted to being in love although their relationship was barely on the page. I found their initial flirting was great, but it appeared they jumped from flirting and sexual chemistry to Beth admitting she is in love. I also found there was not a lot of Christmas in the novel. The last 30%, which was set around the Christmas months were festive and nice but for a book being titled and advertised surrounding Christmas, there was not a lot of festivities.
In the end, I really enjoyed this book. There was quite a bit of miscommunication between the two but by the end, their relationship had blossomed wonderfully.
Thank you NetGalley, Jill Steeples and Boldwood Books for the ARC of Maybe This Christmas ?. This is my personal review.
I look forward to Christmas holiday book every year. This was a good book that gave me a few hours to relax and get to know Beth and Rocco. This was a smooth and easy read that kept my attention.
Jill says that this was the very first novel that she ever wrote and if this is the case there is no wonder that her books have all been fantastic, well done Jill. Really great read and I highly recommend it. Lovey descriptions of places and characters making for a great book. 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
I really enjoyed the storylime , great caat of characters with a few twits along the way. Lovely christmas novel.
What a delicious holiday story! I really enjoyed all the characters, their relationships and how quirky they all were. What a perfect feel good story ideal for the holidays! Thanks #NetGalley and #Boldwood
I really enjoyed reading this book!
The story moved at a great pace and I was reeled in right from the first page.
The only thing that slightly let it down for me was the lack of Christmas/festive vibes until quite a way into the book. I was hoping for it to be more holiday focused given the cover, title and description.
The plot was predictable and cliché however it really worked for me and I loved the author's fun, commercial writing style.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I’ve loved reading the previous books by this author and found them a pleasure to read and this book didn’t disappoint either.
It’s a really comfy and cheerful read, a beautiful story to engross yourself in, and the story caught my attention from the start.
This romantic story was about finding contentment along with a bit of Christmas cheer.
I feel that the book would be a perfect to curl up with on a winter night.
I recommend this book.
Oh I do love a good Christmas themed book and have noticed a few around lately and that is what drew me to this one. A story of how life can throw you many twists and turns but things can and will work out in the end.
This is a heartwarming, uplifting read, it has a bit of romance, a bit of drama and a good storyline. It is an easy book to read and makes you feel good. It was interesting enough to keep me reading and I loved the setting, the celebrity chef.
Although a little predictable it was still a good read, fun and entertaining.
