Another really emotional read, which captures you from the first chapter. Made my lip wobble many times and definitely a page turner. I definitely need to read more from Emily!

I love a Christmas book, I do normally read them in the winter but I am currently making my way through my Netgalley back catalogue and let's face it the UK isn't exactly summer weather just now!
This book gives me Hallmark Christmas movie feels with the treasure hunt to find the last gift, although it is not solely set at Christmas it has all the Christmas feels.
This is the first book I have read from Emily and will look out for her books in future.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
Cassie and Tom suffered the death of their parents at an early age and the aunt who stepped up to care for them had her own grieving to do and wasn't as supportive as she might have been so Cassie relied heavily on her big brother for support. His friend, Sam had his own parental issues so Cassie often felt he was more important to her brother. Fast forward a few years and the inevitable on / off romance begins. Alongside this runs the story of Tom's particular Christmas gift to Cassie: a treasure hunt to find her special present. I'm not going to give any spoilers but this book was full of emotion, I thought it was a wonderful read with Christmas running through it as a theme. It was so good I haven't even reduced my rating because of the swearing - Sam could have sworn less, and that would have made it a 5+ rating for me.

3.5 stars - Tom & Cassie (brother and sister) plus best friend Sam, A story of love, loss and heartbreak. Really thought I was going to love this book but then the endless treasure hunt began and there was so much of it that it totally bogged the story down. Tom was amazing to have been able to set up all those clues in so many different places!! And even more amazing that Cassie always just solved them in the nick of time. The details about everyone’s jobs was also too much and more like something to fill in the pages. It could all have been cut by a third and would have been so much better, flowing and to the point. There were some nice descriptions of Cornwall and Wales. Really loved Always in December and compared to that this was a tad disappointing. Very easy to get into though.

A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.

Another gorgeous heartwarming book by Emily Stone, I loved her first book Always, In December and One Last Gift is just as good. I really recommend.
Thanks to the publishers Headline Books and Netgalley for the e-arc.

I loved this! It was a real a lighthearted, feel-good, romance!
Full disclaimer I’m a big fan of hallmark Christmas romcom and this was perfect to fit the bill.

Cassie and Tom raised each other after losing their parents at young age. Tom’s best friend and Cassie’s first crush Sam was always there until unfortunately Tom does and Sam does something pretty inexcusable.
Tom always sets scavenger hunts for Cassie and it is this which she picks up after he has gone with a letter her brother left behind.

Loved it totally

This is the first time I have read a story by this author. It was a lovely read and one that I enjoyed.
Brother and sister, Cassie and Tom enjoy adventures with their friends Hazel and Sam. Losing their parents at a young age, Cassie and Tom share a close and special bond. Tom creates a treasure hunt for Cassie to complete each year.
What will this year’s treasure hunt have in store for Cassie? Events get Cassie considering what she truly wants from life. Can she find the confidence to take a leap.
This is a story of love, friendship, hope and following your dreams. I enjoyed the mix of the busy London ‘city’ life, and the calmer more tranquil lure of the ‘coast’ as Cassie travelled to Cornwall and Wales.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Emily Stone for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

An enjoyable read dealing with some uncomfortable subject matters.

Although we go through grief and loss with Cassie and her friends and family, the story is done in an u usual sympathetic manner, with a lovely thread of self discovery and love running through it.

Cassie and Tom lost their parent at a young age and both are very close. Both of them spent most of their time with Sam. On every Christmas, there is a tradition initiated by Tom who will send Cassie on a scavenger hunt to find her own gift similar to an amazing race. Sam is Cassie’ s first crush and Sam is Tom’s best friend who are always around for each other. The hardest thing happened when Tom passed away due to a freak accident and before he died, Tom has prepared the annual scavenger hunt for Cassie without knowing that this is their last time. After losing Tom, Cassie took some time before finding courage to find Tom’s one last gift to her.

This book focus on strong family ties, grief after losing loved ones and forgiveness. Reader get to see the evolution of Cassie and Sam and their journey of self-discovery is very meaningful to see. Both of them went thru a complicated and hardship to find their happily ever after. It was an emotional rollercoaster for me reading this book.

I loved Emily Stone’s first offering of Always, In December last year, so I was so happy when I wished for One Last Gift on Netgalley and my wish came true! Whilst this book has some of the more important scenes set at Christmas, a good portion of it takes place throughout the year, as Cassie tries to solve her brothers annual Christmas treasure hunt - his final gift to her that he has already prepared following a fatal climbing accident. This book gave me ‘One Day’ vibes as it flicks between two of the main characters perspectives. It will make you glad of the happy ending when you see the obstacles the characters overcome! (My only complaint here is that one of the clues took Cassie far too long solve, and I’m not sure if that was intentional or not!).

One Last Gift by Emily Stone another NetGalley read. I won’t say to much regarding what this book is about because I simply don’t want to give anything away. I will say that it’s about Cassie and Tom who are brother and sister and Sam who is Tom’s best friends but the three of them have grown up together. The three of them are all on different paths in life but that doesn’t mean they are living the dream, each one has fears in their own ways. I loved, loved, loved this book, I couldn’t put it down and is up there with as one of my favourites (we are all book lovers we will never just have one favourite book of the year!) of the year. For me it had a P.S I Love You vibe. It’s a cute, heartwarming, heartbreaking story. A love story, a love between brother and sister, a love between children and parents, a love between friends and a romantic love story. It’s about friendships, death, grief, how different people handle grief even when they are grieving for the same person, it’s about growing up and finding a path you are passionate about, it’s about love and loss, forgiveness and moving on and it’s about all the messing stuff, sad and happy that life through at you, the big what if’s. It’s relatable and that’s the big thing about this book, you feel like your reading about someone you know. I’ve not read many book that have the power to make me want to cry (I cry all the time at the TV, earlier this morning I cried at the last Escape To The Chateau!) but with books it’s harder to build that visual picture up. So you know a book is special and well written if you makes you reach for those tissues because it’s so well written you can feel the characters grief as it jumps of the pages! This has to be on your Christmas book TBR pile I can’t recommend it enough, I’ve not read anything by this author before and can’t wait to see what she writes next. I can imagine this becoming a film and just like the boom would be a sure hit! @emstonewrites I will be recommending to everyone 🥲🎄🎄 it goes without saying that I now have a book hanger however they are the best hangovers to have ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have you ever wondered how normal you are?
What if you were perfectly average?
More than anyone else.

For Emily – it's true. When she watches a documentary on the average human she sees her life. Her job, her hair, her favourite food. All of her – plainly, horrifically average. Even her blood group. Right there and then, she decides she wants more.

She'll travel the world (i.e. venture out of her hometown)

She'll become a vegan (it's interesting to hate cheese, right?)

She'll do something daring (As long as it's safety tested)

Nothing will stand in the way of Emily living her best life. Not even Josh and his dimples. Because she absolutely can't fall in love... that would be too ordinary.

And from now on, Emily is going to be extraordinary.

This was an emotional but overall heart warming and uplifting story, this author definitely knows how to pour emotion into her plot lines. What a perfect read for the winter

What a heartbreaking yet uplifting read. Emily Stone has a way of drawing you in, getting invested in these characters and breaking your heart in the meantime. Tom was a major feature in the book despite him dying early on and seeing the impact it had on those around him, particularly Cassie and Sam. It was lovely to read about the relationship between Tom, Cassie and Sam throughout the years. The ending will leave you with all the feels. One Last Gift really is a lovely read and I'll look forward to reading more from Emily Stone.
