Sometimes, the only way to heal is to go home. Phoebe learns that the hard way after finding her boyfriend Hugh and their boss Melissa in a compromising position at a holiday party. She flees London and heads to her parents' home in Goshill to try and make sense of what she saw. Hugh makes it pretty easy to figure things out after a heartbreaking bombshell turns Phoebe's world upside down.
Phoebe opts to remain at home, letting her life in London go, in order to start over. I really being part of Phoebe's journey as she navigates the next phase of her life. The author did a great job creating this world, setting it up, and developing the characters. I had fun reading about strong grandmas, supportive parents, and silly animals. I look forward to the next book.
Coming Home To Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton
Welcome to the start of a brand new series, set in the New Forest. It is full of matchmaking and animal magic, from best selling author, Della Galton. When your heart is broken, all roads led home.
A light story about families, relationships, and going “home”. I enjoyed this novel. I think some areas could have been shortened. The characters were very heart-warming.
Thank you to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
I have previously enjoyed Della Galton's short stories in magazines and her novels are every bit as good with the benefit of more pages to enjoy. It is wonderful to find she is now writing series, where readers can really get to know characters as they feature in a book then pop up in later books. This story features Phoebe who discovers that her partner, Hugh, is cheating on her so she returns to her childhood home in the delightful setting of the New Forest. Phoebe's friends and family feature throughout the story, as do a family of animals who are all characters in their own right. The story is delightful, including romance, and very credible. This is a lovely start to a series and I look forward to meeting more characters as well as seeing what is in store for Phoebe and Sam in the forthcoming books.
I enjoyed reading the first of a brand new series from Della Galton, titled Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm. Set in the beautiful New Forest with characters who draw you in from the first I was hooked from the start. Now very much looking forward to the second book in the series. Happy reading!

I’ve really enjoyed reading this book. It’s the first book in a new series. This is a charming and heartwarming story that is really well written. The cast of characters are great and well developed, I especially loved Phoebe and Maggie. Phoebe is a really likeable and relatable character who you can’t help feeling sorry for. Maggie, phoebe’s gran is stubbornly independent and a real animal lover. I adored the setting of the New Forest and I loved the descriptions of Puddleduck Farm. Overall an enjoyable read with an open ending that will leave you wanting more. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will definitely be reading more by her.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Della Galton is back with a magical new tale of love, friendship and family that is simply irresistible: Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm.
Vet Phoebe Dashwood loves her life in London. She has a gorgeous fiancé, a job she adores and a thriving career. Everything seems to be going swimmingly for Phoebe – until she catches the man she had hoped to spend the rest of her life with locked in a passionate clinch with their boss. Heartbroken, betrayed and devastated, Phoebe cannot stomach the thought of spending even another minute in London, so she packs her bags and flees to the New Forest to regroup and figure out what she is going to be doing next now that all of her hopes and dreams for the future have been smashed to smithereens.
The New Forest holds a very special place in Phoebe’s heart. She has many happy childhood memories of this majestic place and her fiercely independent gran still lives there on Puddleduck Farm where she also runs a makeshift animal shelter called New Forest Neddies. Maggie is swamped with all the work she has to do both at the farm and the shelter, so Phoebe doesn’t hesitate to roll up her sleeves and muck in. But will Maggie be glad of her granddaughter’s help? Or will she see it as an imposition?
The more time Phoebe spends at Puddleduck Farm, the more she realizes that she has at long found somewhere to belong. As she renews old friendships and makes new ones, she also finds herself drawn to a figure from her past who makes her come alive all over again. Will Phoebe put down roots in Puddleduck Farm? Or does destiny have other plans for her?
Written with plenty of humour and heart, Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm is a joyous, emotional and uplifting tale about starting over, second chances and finding your place in the world that ticks every single box. Witty, compelling and hard to put down, Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm is set in a wonderful part of the world and it is full of warm, kind and colourful characters it is impossible not to care about.
A gorgeous page-turner perfect for curling up with, Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm is the latest delightful treat by Della Galton.
Phoebe a veterinarian catches her partner kissing there boss needless to say she is not happy and leaves to return home. She returns and helps her grandmother out on Puddle Duck Farm. This is the start of a promising series which I can't wait to read more of. I feel like I already know the characters and I love the authors writing style. It was a joy to read.
When Phoebe finds her boyfriend and their boss snogging at the office Christmas party, she swiftly gets in her car and returns to the family home in the New Forest.
While there she discovers that her feisty Grandma needs help running her animal rescue centre.
Is this the start of a new life for Phoebe?
This is the first in a new series and I can't wait to read the next instalment.
Phoebe move back home in the New Forest after she breakup with her boyfriend leaving behind her job as a vet. Maggie is Phoebe’a grandmother, is a feisty and tough lady who loves her animal . With Phoebe back home, she trying to find ways to help her grandmother but Maggie is just too stubborn she need help to run her farm. Phoebe also reconnect with Sam, her childhood friend and who always been around, caring and supportive.
It is a sweet story with fierce and independent female character. As the story develops, the author dabble some potential love interest along the way. The story have a wonderful setting with a smooth and engaging storyline.

I really enjoyed getting to know Phoebe and her family and friends. The characters were all believable and I am looking forward to seeing how they will develop over the next books.
For me I found it to be a wonderful introduction to this author's writing style, and I have a real sense of place, and of what I presume will be recurring characters within the series. I think it has set up future books incredibly well, and is enjoyable within its own right.
Although this book was classified as a general fiction/romance on NetGalley, I’d call it just women’s fiction. There wasn’t actually any romance in this book This book was just okay. The writing wasn’t exactly bad, but for most of the story, I was just kind of bored and wanted to skim. The beginning was interesting and the main character’s heartbreak was moving, but there was just so much description of animals, scenery, etc. Also, because this is the first book in a series, there’s no resolution. Almost nothing happens. I have a feeling this entire series could be condensed into one more interesting book.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It was a pleasant, cozy Christmas novel that put me in the Christmas spirit.
I have got great hopes for this series as it has established some interesting characters which I found to be totally credible. Phoebe has returned to her childhood village in the New Forest and has some long term decisions to make. Having lost her job as a vet due to the situation with her ex-boyfriend, Phoebe finds her views on her future have changed and re-discovers her love for her grandmother's small holding which is being run as a refuge for waifs and strays.
Phoebe meets up again with friends from her childhood who are full of fun and genuine feelings. Like Phoebe, you feel they are at a crossroads in their lives. Also, I loved her family who were warm and affectionate but also full of humour. Her grandmother stole the show for me, with her fierce independent streak and determination to not be a burden on her family. You are left, like Phoebe, looking to the future, full of anticipation as to how the series is going to develop.
In short: The first in a new series full of potential

If you love animals, you'll love this story. It's warm and uplifting, but it's not a romance. Not yet. However, as this is going to be the first in a series, it has the potential to become one. The question for the next instalment is... which man will she fall for, because there are two possibilities, each of them gorgeous in their own way.
Romance aspect aside, it's still a warm and fuzzy read, with a glorious setting and well-drawn characters. My particular favourite was Maggie (I want to be like her when I get to her age) and a despicably ferocious cat called Saddam.
This is a story about new beginnings and finding yourself, about family and friendship, and most impotently above love, even without the romance.
An excellent start for a new series: it kept me hooked, made me rooted for the characters, laugh and moved to tears.
It's recommended as it's compelling and heartwarming.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I am so excited to be starting this new series! Della Galton has a real gift for story telling in an atmospheric setting where you end up caring about the characters and what they are going through.
At the start of the book I was immediately on Phoebe's side, disgusted by Hugh and I completely understood the pull of going home, especially when home is such a wonderful place. At home Phoebe has her friends Tori and Sam, her parents and her very special grandma Maggie with her animal shelter. I could easily picture the shelter and the various animals and would like to meet them all, with the exception of Saddam. The place sounded perfect for Phoebe, a vet. I can't wait to continue this series and see what is next for Phoebe and the Holts.
What to expect:
- start of a new series
- lots of animals and a shelter/sanctuary
- multiple story lines
- an ex (Hugh) and a not so secret admirer (Sam)
- a rich but rude neighbor (Rufus Holt)
- a hint of romance
- a feisty grandma (Maggie)
- a bit of a wild best friend (Tori)
- a wholesome story, no cringeworthy moments
What a wonderful way to start a new series! I laughed and cried in equal measures and felt that I was being taken along on the journey from the beginning. My first Della Galton novel and I'm sure it won't be the last. Phoebe finds herself back in her home village after seeing her boyfriend in a full-on snog at the works Christmas party in the City. I think you should join me in reading what promises to be a great series.
Oh to be home on Puddleduck Farm! Filled it all kinds of stray animals that people can’t take care of anymore like donkeys, cats, dogs, and the like, Maggie is taking care of them all because she can’t bear to think of what will happen to them if she doesn’t. When Phoebe finds out her boyfriend has been cheating, she packs her things and heads straight to her grandmother’s place, Puddleduck Farm. She hasn’t visited in a while, though she has kept up with her by phone. She knows the farm is in need of help, and being a veterinarian, she should be able to offer some assistance while she figures out what she wants to do next.
This was a cute little way to escape for an afternoon or two and I enjoyed my time on the farm. My only criticism would be if the storyline of The Holt family would have been resolved a little bit neater. Other than that an enjoyable read.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.
I loved this book and hope to read more in this series.
Phoebe flees home to Puddleduck Farm when she finds her boyfriend in a 'clinch'. Her nan runs a rescue centre and she hopes to help out by looking after the animals there to reduce overheads. You get a real sense of the farmwork and the issues concerning her nan. It was lovely to be in the middle of a warming story.
This is a sweet read that is pure Escapism. You can lose yourself in the beautifully written narrative. I also love the fact that she describes the scenery in detail so that you can picture yourself there as you read. I am glad this is the start of a new series because I am looking forward to reading more of Phoebe's adventures and the refurbishment of the farm. I am also hoping she gets a happy ending in future novels.
If you want a sweet easy read that feels relatable and genuine then this is perfect.
