I really enjoyed this charming book and how refreshing that the story centred around an animal loving, professional, young woman and her journey moving back home to the New Forest. Although there were potential love interests, three of them to be exact, the driven Phoebe is more interested in forging a new veterinary career, outside London and helping her Grandmother Maggie with her animal rescue centre based at the family farm. The animals are definitely the stars of this delightful story, but the supporting cast of human characters also supplied plenty of interest. Especially Rufus Holt and his terrible PTSD. A salutary reminder that we don't always know what is behind a person's behaviour and that we should be more tolerant and not so quick to judge. Can't wait for the next instalment.

Filled with animals and interesting characters, both winners for me, the overly expository writing and the jolt of an ending fell flat. There seemed like there was both too much and too little. Unfortunately I don't believe I will read more by this author.

I was hoping for a bit more from this book but sadly it didn’t deliver. The various plots going on were left wide open and the book itself ended so abruptly I thought I’d missed something. I’m guessing this is going to be a series but I don’t enjoy books that leave things so messy with so many loose ends regardless of the possibility of a sequel or not. It wasn’t even that plus we’re left as cliff hangers, they just stopped. And the individual plot lines never came together in a solid way which just felt disjointed.

This is the start to a brand new series and what a great start it is. Everything about it makes you feel as though you could be there with everyone and the animals. Can't wait for the next book, 5 stars

This is a great start to a new series! I loved everything about this book, the setting, the characters, the sweet romance and especially the animals. It's a heartwarming story that you hate to see end. It's the perfect book to curl up with to escape life for a little while. Highly recommend it and look forward to the next book in this series. Deserves more than 5 stars.

I loved this sweet book, it was such a pleasure to read. A cozy, sitting in the sun type of book which you can get lost in very quickly. I loved the characters and the animals on the farm as well as the love interest. This was a good one! Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm is a must-read first book in a new series by Della Galton, and my first book by this author. The story introduces an endearing cast of characters, both human and animal, a charming small town setting, and gives a glimpse into the joys and hardships of running an animal sanctuary.

When Phoebe, a 34 year-old London veterinarian, discovers her boyfriend of six years not-so-innocently kissing their boss under the mistletoe, her life comes crashing down. As she returns home to New Forest to spend the Christmas holidays with her family and begins to sort out her future. Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm focuses on Phoebe's healing from Hugh's betrayal, reconnecting with her best friends, Tori and Sam, after years of drifting apart due to distance and work demands, and sorting out Puddleduck Farm where her grandmother cares for abandoned animals.

I adored Maggie, Phoebe's feisty, independent grandmother, and sympathized with the family's frustration with Maggie's distain for technology. The Neddies (donkeys) and other animals often stole the scene with their humorous antics.

The character development of the secondary characters is one of the reasons that I gave this book five stars. The character of Rufus Holt started out as rude, disagreeable, and above the law, but as his background and trauma were revealed, my opinion of him dramatically changed. I can't wait to see what is in store for him in this series. Sam and Tori were also well developed characters that not only added to the enjoyment of this book, but also have me curious about what will happen further on in the series.

The author also touches on the pitfalls of modern dating, issues of class separation still existing, and changing relationships. The resolution leaves the reader with a hopeful vision of the future for the farm, but also with questions regarding potential romantic relationships, which left me eager to read future books in the series.

If you enjoy a book with a strong willed female main character, a supportive close-knit family, loyal and generous friendships, and adorable animals, this book is for you!

This is the first in a new series of books - a fact which escaped me before I started reading. There were lots of threads of stories which never really went anywhere and then the book ended abruptly - that's when I realised that it was the start of a series.

An easy, light read but be aware this isn't a complete story.

This is a fabulous start to a new series by Della Galton, who’s books are a joy to read.

I absolutely loved the setting, the New Forest, and Maggie, who is Phoebe’s gran runs Puddleduck Farm. Maggie loves the animals and has different ones at the shelter.

Anyone who loves animals will love reading this book. The scene with Saddam, the cat was funny.

Phoebe and her family were lovely characters and I enjoyed getting to know them.

I am really looking forward to finding out how the other characters will evolve throughout the series.

I highly recommend this book.

Phoebe runs back home, back to the New Forest, when she discovers her long-term boyfriend kissing someone else. This other person happens to be their BOSS, so she is really lost as to what to do next. In one foul swoop, she has lost her partner, her job and her accommodation.

The New Forest is an area which not only contains Phoebe's parents, but also her best friend and her gran, Maggie. Maggie runs a rescue at Puddleduck Farm. Now, Maggie is getting on a little bit and she is finding things a bit tougher than she used to. Luckily, Phoebe is a vet so she can quite happily lend a hand. Loving ALL the animals in this book, even the evils ones (yes, we are looking at you, Saddam!).

Between an ex boyfriend, a friend who would like to be more and a man whom she is attracted to but has mixed feelings about, Phoebe has her hands full. And that is without worrying about Maggie, who is as stubborn as she is!

A really lovely story. I so appreciate the fact that the rescue was at the centre of this book, not just a bit of a background for a possible romance, etc, like most books of this kind.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series - this IS the first book of a series, right?? Otherwise, I might have to deduct a star for the ending of this book ;)

A lovely read about going home to family when things go wrong. Vet Phoebe witnesses her boyfriend Hugh and boss Melissa , nicknamed Cruella, sharing an intimate kiss under the mistletoe and returns home to find comfort with her family and to decide what to do. Her grandmother Maggie runs Puddleduck Farm which has turned into a rehoming centre but it is obvious that Maggie, although reluctant to accept it, needs help. The story follows Phoebe through her decision making about her future, her encounters with moody lord of the manor Rufus Holt and her interactions with all the other characters. I thought that the characters, including the various animals, were great and that this was a steady, easy going read. I do hope that there is a another one though as there wasn’t a definitive ending. I really want to find out what happens next!

A lovely warming book to read on holiday or relaxing at home. Feel good factor of country views and ways, animal on the tip of your fingers with romance in the air. Homely chatter with the characters, loved it, but an abrupt ending, which I assume is to be continued?

This is the first in a new series. This book will warm your heart as you realize there is no place like home.

An ok read for a lazy afternoon. The ending was a very strange cut off of the story. And it doesn’t seem like the author will write more to tidy up the ending. Lots of loose plot strings. No romance at all so if you are expecting that look elsewhere. Cute bit of escapism.
