Perfect little book to dip in and out of; great aid for language learning. Might not be the best for complete beginners.
If you've studied the Spanish language in school and regretted not carrying on with it then this is the b{ok for you. Because I already knew all the idiosyncracies of the Spanish language I was able to pick up the phrases etc. Having said that if you are new to the language and just want to pick up phrases you can use on holiday then this book will help you too. I have found when abroad that the local people really appreciate it if you try to speak their language even if you make a couple of mistakes. It shows that we don't all expect everyone to speak English.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book
As a Spanish learner I found "50 Spanish Coffee Breaks" a valuable and fun tool to repeat and expand the vocabulary and grammar between lessons. Examples are relevant to the everyday use of the language, nothing too far-fetched.
However, I don't think this book will be as useful as a self-learning aid. I simply think it won't be enough. So 4 stars are for "50 Spanish Coffee Breaks" as a book that supports learning the language with a tutor, not a stand-alone learning tool.
This book provides a nice way to consolidate any language learning that undertaking. There are a number of 5, 10 and 15 minute activities that build your skills. 5 minute section includes vocabulary building, mini grammar challenges and guided translations. My favourite is the guided translations.
10 minute sections include: jumbled letters- word recognition, number focus and reading. Whilst the 15 minute section includes, reading, guided writing and grammar.
All in all the books will help improve any learning that you undertake during your breaks. Well worth the investment.
The activities in here are great for short exercises to practise vocabulary. They were fun to complete too.
After spending an interesting lunch with a Spanish friend and her mother who spoke no English I realised I really needed to learn some Spanish.
Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me who needs to build on my basics. Personally I think this is more suited to the GSVExplorer student learning the language. I don’t want to be able to write in Spanish I Want to speak and understand it.
Sorry but I didn’t get on with this at all, this didn’t feel like it made learning Spanish easy.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

A most interesting read, easy to understand, plenty of tips, now to put it all into practice.
I have used this book alongside my other Spanish language learning and found it a real help. The short tasks are perfect for recapping words and phrases. Brilliant for any Spanish language learner
Coffee Break Spanish has been providing coffee break length Spanish podcasts since 2006. I have been a fan for most of that time as the lessons are about the same length as my commute into work. The only problem so far has been that the free lessons are totally aural, learning by listening and repeating. The new book of 15 minute exercises fills the gap. I have found they fit easily into my lunchbreak, replacing 15 minutes of scrolling online. The podcasts and the paper exercises complement each other, but are not linked. I have just started at the beginning of the book, though I am on season 3 of the podcast.
II was disappointed with this book. The premise was great but unfortunately the write up led me to believe that this was a beginner book and as I did not know Spanish I found that it missed the point for me. The premise was great separating it into the three distinct sections according to the time that the reader could allocate daily. I am sorry to say that this missed the opportunity for me to learn Spanish as I was frustrated at not knowing the language first so that I could use this as a refresher and improve conjugation and rules.
As I received a digital e-copy of this book, it was quite difficult to go through the exercises but I was very impressed with the idea and. I will definitely buy the physical copy so I can go through it more carefully.
A nifty little book. I bought a physical copy of this book as reading it on a kindle was frustrating - I wanted to get into the book and have a go.
The blurb gives a great description of what you get.
This is definitely not a book for beginners, more for confident learners.
The contents page lists lessons on 5-minute breaks. 10-minute breaks and 15-minute breaks. If you have listened to Coffee Break Spanish Podcasts, these exercises seem to be based around the end of Season 1 onwards, with most of it being based around Season 2/3 level.
The exercises are varied, from word builder to mini-grammar & idiomatically speaking as well as a lot more. Really pushed my knowledge to the edge but also rewarding when I got through some sections relatively ok!
There are banks of vocabulary and phrases to help you throughout. The answers are easier to find in a physical book, being on grey paper at the end of each section. On a kindle that part was a nightmare!
Overall an enjoyably challenging book which fits easily into my bag. It will get a lot of use!
These books that offer various exercises, constructed in different ways and aimed at making us remember the words of the foreign language and its grammatical construction, are designed for those who already know the language and want to improve or brush up on it, but are not suitable for those who want to learn it from scratch.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
