This is the first book in the Charassi’s Fae Queen series, surrounding a strong female character Ophelia who believes everyone is equal and takes that with her as she discovers that there are other realms. She accidentally and humorously bonds a snarky, angry dragon who grew on me the more I discovered. It is exciting to watch the characters grow, learn, and make mistakes along the way. Ava Richardson does a great job world building and providing detail within the flow of the plot and storyline.

This is a multi-POV novel, which normally I am not a fan of however in this instance it works well, keeping my interest as it transitions and shows the various motivations for the characters. If you are looking for romance, this appears to be a slow burn and will have to wait for follow on in the series to see where it develops in future books.

Overall, I really enjoyed the overall story and I can’t wait for the next book. There were times that the punctuation usage was distracting, but the use of dashes lessened after the first few chapters and started to flow much better as I read it. There were great descriptions the majority of the time, although there were a few instances where I could have used more detail to fully understand the character responses or scenes.

I was sent this advanced copy to read in exchange for a honest review eiw. A fantastic read, full of unexpected twists and turns. If you’re a fan of the Crave series or An Enchantment of Ravens, you’ll enjoy this story. While there is an undertone of romance it’s all quite chaste and innocent- hopefully it develops more in the latter books. But the world building is good- detailed but not drawn out, a really enjoyable story, looking forward to the next book already!

This was highly enjoyable! I was able to sit back and let myself be lost in the words without thinking much. I loved the chemistry between the two main leads as well.

Overall: 5 out of 5
While the title sounds ominous, the book is a wonderful journey. I quickly fell in love with Ophelia, our FMC. Her compassion allows her to be an amazing person, who stands up for herself and others, even though it tends to cause trouble for her.

Corrin, our MMC, is just as compassionate as Ophelia, a trait I rarely see in MMC’s. He was likable from the beginning and believed in Ophelia rather than being rude.

The dragons? LOVE THEM. I’ll literally read a book just because it has dragons in it. I enjoyed the plot and found myself immersed in the story quite easily.

I’m looking forward to reading the sequel when it comes out!

An ARC was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Okay,, THIS BOOK WAS JUST AWESOME. i enjoyed so much even though i generally don’t enjoy and like young adult books. it was good.

The plot was so enough for a fantasy. it was incredible. But you know what’s more good than the plot: OPHELIA AND CORRIN’S CHEMISTRY. Their dynamic was so good!
