I am reviewing a copy of the Armor of God Part 1 through Bright Light Publishing and Netgalley:
The faith amidst the trials, the hope and ultimately the true love...
In spite of hard times on welfare, Courtney hopes that her rocky relationship with Kevin can be resolved, especially for their two young children.
Their financial situation goes from pitiful to prosperous overnight, which Courtney, the breadwinner, finds impossibly convenient.
What is the source of her boyfriend's income?
Even with abundant funds, Kevin refuses to contribute to household bills, forcing Courtney, Amanda and Josh to move out of their home to a nefarious neighborhood.
Without a job, Courtney is unable to make Kevin into a husband. Suddenly, a good friend from her Christian past returns to her life. Kevin is not Roy, but Roy is everything Kevin is not.
Roy's kindness to Courtney and her children melts Courtney's heart, igniting strong desires... which Kevin's jealousy quickly overshadows.
A suspicious amount of money has been found. Abuse of drugs and alcohol. The aggressiveness of a boyfriend is increasing...
Kevin makes this point clear. No one will be able to have her if he cannot.
In Courtney's mind, a question arises that she believed she would never have to ask. How will she survive this relationship?
Will she be able to find the faith to pray? Is it even possible for God to forgive her?
I give The Armor of God Part One four out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
This is part one of 2 in this book. Courtney wants to marry the father of her children, but he is so irresponsible and not helping with bills. Her family kicked her out when she became pregnant. Before that, she was a Christian and raised that way but now has turned her back on Kevin's family is rich and they gave them a house to live in, but it was too expensive and they moved to a cheaper place.
Now Kevin has decided he needs more money for his new business venture and has rented their house out. He won't discuss what this new business is and it seems to be illegal. She lost her job after they moved because he also sold their second car. She was forced to take public transportation and was late several times. So now she is living in fear with a dangerous neighborhood and shootings every night. She's scared for her children and is not happy with this situation at all. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this story.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary review.
Sadly this story didn't impact me hugely. The description was great but not inspirational for me. I'm sure it will appeal to others as it is well written. .
The Armor of God is a very well written book. A good plot and well developed characters. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook.
The Armor of God intrigued me as soon as I read the blurb and I'm really glad I took a chance on it. This Part 1 is a quick, fast read as it's novella length, but also because the story really moves. It's an interesting concept in that Courtney is going through some really tough times but she won't turn to God even though she was a self-proclaimed Christian in college. I think her journey back to her faith will be a hard-fought one, but an interesting one as well. I look forward to reading more installments. I’m very grateful to have been given the opportunity to read an early copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest opinion.
