This was a really solid and enjoyable follow up to All Of Us Villains!

I really appreciated the continued character development from the first book, as that was definitely something that I appreciated in book one and was excited to see in this sequel.

At times I felt that the writing was pretty slow, and considering the length of this book, I would have appreciated the story being more streamlined so that the momentum of the plot would have been stronger. However, I did appreciate the different perspectives and side stories we got to experience as it did give a fuller experience to the book.

Many thanks to the publisher, authors and NetGalley for sending me an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this one, but not as much as the first book.

With this first book ending on a cliffhanger, I was dying to see what happened next. I felt like I was trudging through the first half of the book, but then flew through the second.

“Grins like goblins. Pale as plague and silent as spirits”

This brought alllllll the pining, in-denial slow-burn and I was so here for it! So much action, betrayals and insanely cool magic, this second installment did not disappoint! I do however think this series would have been better as a standalone. A chunk of it did feel like filler, and unless you adore these characters right off the bat, you may find sections a little tedious. Nevertheless I still enjoyed the book and I think the characters are great. I loved the different relationships that blossomed, especially the queer one which was so unexpected 🥺

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I simply adored the first book in this series, it is dark and tricksy, and just generally great fun to read. This finale to the duology is no different, I am happy to say! I'm honestly already tempted to reread them both :D

I love a tournament setting, especially when there is so much between the characters already and they have to deal with their history, as well as the competition. I love the thought that went into the magic set-up and backstory because it helped lean into the character development and interactions. The idea behind winning it all versus destroying it all worked well for me, and watching the characters battle it out and figure out their loyalties was a lot of fun.

Honestly I already adored Foody's work and this collab with Herman is no different. 4 stars.

I sadly had to DNF the first book, I was hoping to binge these together but I could not get into one of the pov's which is a shame as this was a duology I was super excited to read.

Good ending to a duology, not as good as the first but enjoyed the further development of the characters. The story/conclusion wasn’t anything special unlike the first book, part of me feels it could have worked better as just one whole book rather then splitting it.

It has a really slow start and while it had a lot of action it wasn’t nearly as good as the first book to me. I feel it would have been better as a standalone rather than a series

Whilst I enjoyed this series as a whole I just didn’t find myself as gripped with this as the first in the series. I enjoyed the characters and the writing but still felt somewhat disappointed. It just lacked some of the excitement of the first book.

Having loved the first book and giving it 5 stars - I was super excited going into the sequel/finale. Unfortunately, I have been picking this book up and putting it down for months hoping it will grab me and it just did not. So I have to DNF.

ALL OF OUR DEMISE finishes this duology in style.

It has been over a year since this book came out and I have been putting off reading it because, while I enjoyed ALL OF US VILLAINS, it didn't leave enough of a "must know more" impression to make me pick up the sequel in a timely manner. I'll be honest, I went in expecting to find it a bit of a drag, but I really enjoyed it. I made an effort to find time to keep reading.

The thing I liked the most were the trials involved with destroying the landmarks to break the curse. They were nice and varied. Some were pretty gory/horror-esque while others were trials of strength or character. The variety really helped it feel less repetitive (given there are a lot of them to destroy!)

The characters also keep up their bickering, tension-filled relationships but in a way that felt realistic. The drama between them didn't feel like it was there for drama's sake, but instead as the natural result of history and clashing goals. The dynamics kept me engaged, wanting to know if they could find enough common ground to end the tournament - or die trying.

I received an e-copy of All of Our Demise (All of Us Villains #2) by Amanda Foody and C.L. Herman from Orion Publishing Group and Netgalley. Even though I have been gifted this book for review, all opinions are my own.

I am really enjoyed the conclusion to the ending of this duology. The romances where great and the dark fantasy elements were highly enjoyable. This book was full of action-packed drama and the storyline wrapped up well.

Highly recommend it if you enjoy YA dark fantasy novels.

Thank you to the publishers for gifting me this novel to read and review.

WHAT A BOOK! i cant write much without fangirling and ruining it for everyone else. Epic battles, deals made, promises broken. it has everything you want in a book with characters you will love and hate. the character growth and development is amazing and drags you along for an amazing ride.

I was on the edge of my seat through most of the book and the ending. left me broken but in the best way. if you want two books to read in a week i would suggest these bad boys

a good conclusion, left feeling unsatisfied. Fairly predictable for the storyline, however the character development is encouraging. If you enjoy morally grey characters go for it. I think, you care so much about a couple of characters you keep reading, but then the story itself is a bit too predictable.

The surviving champions have to come together, if they are going to destroy the High Magic curse, before it destroys them all.

I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Like the first installment, this book is narrated by four of our champions - Alistair, Isobel, Gavin and Briony.
It follows on from the the shocking ending of the first book, All of Us Villains. Each of our champions has their own problems, caused by their own actions.

Once again, they split into two teams - one that doesn't want to destroy the curse - Alistair, who is afraid he might lose his brother; and Gavin, who sees this as his only chance to win High Magic for his family.
The other team does want to destroy the curse, to save future generations from this horror. Briony and Finley trying to be heroes; and Isobel trying to be a survivor.

I enjoyed this book - I thought most of it was a lot stronger than the first in the series. It had resolved some of the issues I had with All of Us Villains.
The changes between chapters and characters was a lot smoother; and having logical, group objectives, made the plot feel more focused.

I really liked the addition of Reid McTavish - another villain coming to terms with what he's done to the champions, and what he's still willing to do.
We got an overall deeper look at all of our characters, and watch as they all realise that none of them are heroes or villains. At heart, they're all scared teens, trying to work out what the right thing to do is, and if they'll survive.

I thought that the ending went off the boil a bit. All of the plotlines were so strong throughout, and I felt it got to a point and the writing wavered. As if everything had been agreed and achieved, that the characters were just going through the motions.

Overall, I have enjoyed this duology, and I look forward to reading more by the authors.

I liked book 1 very much and devoured it at the time. I also liked book 2 extraordinarily well.
The tension second part of this duology remains expectedly high and even increases steadily as the story progresses. Similar to the first book, the characters are portrayed with complexity, inner conflicts and intense emotions - which I loved at the time. They get into deep trouble through family ties, ruthless competition, twisted magic, and personal weaknesses. But in the midst of it all, they begin to unite and care for each other, which adds to the tension. The world building is excellent, with imaginative magic tightly woven into the characters' warped family histories. Themes of love, trust and sacrifice replace the constant ambivalence in their hearts.
The Diversity also continues to be a plus for me, like in book 1.
Just when the curse seems on the verge of being broken, the story takes an unexpected turn.
I highly recommend this book (or thus two books) to all fantasy fans who crave a compelling and strong story set in a world of intriguing magic and driven by a fast-paced plot.
It should be a no-brained for everyone who liked book 1.

Real Rating: 4
Plot/story: 4
Setting/worldbuilding: 4
Characters: 4
Writing/ prose: 3.5
Unputdownable: 4.5

Short review: Gulp. I knew this one would hurt. The angst, the yearning, the trauma, this did not disappoint.

My advice: best to read this close to the 1st book as a lot of interpersonal conflict is explored further but not reiterated, which made me go back and re-read the final 50 pages of the 1st book.

Long review, no spoilers:
Look this book is like cotton candy, it’s just so bingeable and the over the top highschool drama of these little murderers is just juicy icing. This book won’t be for everyone but if you’re part of that Vampire Diaries crowd, then yea you’ll eat it up.

Plot: The story continues where it left off in book 2, with all our alliances up in the air and 2 huge reveals. The events in this book truly didn’t surprise me, but I still enjoyed the ride and especially watching new relationships build and old ones disintegrate.
The plot is very straightforward: we’re split between the team who wants to destroy the tournament and break the curse, and the team who wants to keep it going. I would have preferred to spend a bit more time with team A and explore a few slice of life scenes because their dynamic was most interesting to me. We did get that with team B so I’m sure we could have had an extra 20 pages :D

Characters: Fantastic character development all round, even in ones we would not expect it.
I struggled a bit with Briony’s arc, maybe because this is meant to be a “villainous” arc and she was such a goody two-shoes. Allistar, Gavin and Isobel’s arcs were much more complex and dramatic.
Without getting into spoilers, there was a moment in Allistair’s story that left me quite underwhelmed which just felt out of character and took something away from the emotional roller coaster. Reid’s involvement was a rogue element that kept me on my toes the entire time and I’m quite satisfied with that resolution.

Writing style / prose: This is where I’m going to rant a bit, because while ultimately we all know this story will have a semi-decent ending because it’s YA, the characters weren’t quite that villainous – don’t get me wrong, some did truly despicable things, but most were actually quite tame.
Which brings me to a gripe I had with book 1 as well: the obnoxious, infuriating, irritating overuse of the words “villain” and “monster” which were used approximately every 3 pages, rendering them pointless, prosaic and, worst of all, taking me out of the story. Let’s be real, no matter how bad someone is, they wouldn’t realistically refer to themselves as such every half hour.
The rest of it was very palatable though, easy to read and creatively executed.

Worldbuilding/ magic system: Look, the execution of this tournament was, while not too confusing, it was imaginative enough to keep me guessing. The addition of the media, of family mythos, of spell craftsmanship made me crave for more stories in this world. Once again the atmosphere was choking with eerie elements, unsettling events and vivid horror moments that seemed plucked from my worst nightmare. This author duo knows how to make my skin crawl.

Overall, a fun, gruesome binge that cemented these authors as faves. Would recommend for fans of gray morality and horrible family dynamics.

I adored the first book. I found this one had a lot of good character development and I was definitely invested in lots of the relationships. But I found myself feeling flat after reading this. The plot was predictable so I didn't really care too much towards the end which was a shame.

I think it being a duology really played into its favour. It ends at a really good point and at no point did it feel like the action didn't drag. I think the writing from Herman and Foody was fantastic and I would love to read more from the duo in future.

A captivating and fast-paced conclusion to this series awaits you. Through the perspectives of Briony, Finley, and Isabel, the story unfolds as they join forces to dismantle their rivals and put an end to the curse once and for all.

As a surprising twist, Alistair's brother, Hendry, makes a miraculous return from the afterlife, compelling Al to go to great lengths to ensure his brother's presence, even if it means forming an unlikely alliance with the rival, Gavin Grieve.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the assortment of curses and magical elements woven into the narrative, I must admit that Isabel occasionally grated on me. She often complained about feeling inferior to Briony without any discernible justification, which became tiresome over time.

One aspect I found particularly engaging was the role played by Reid McTavish, who is eventually exposed as a saboteur. The characters cleverly manipulate him into becoming trapped in the competition alongside them.

To sum it up, this series provided an enjoyable and entertaining experience. It offered a delightful mix of excitement and fun, though it did include a few poignant moments along the way.

A great second part to this duology. All Of Our Demise has a slower start than I was expecting. Given where All Of Us Villains finished, I was expecting this to start at pace & just keep going, but it settles in quite gently & then the action gets started.

With sections told from each characters viewpoint, you really get to know them & what makes them tick. Lots of morally grey characters keep the action moving with their questionable behaviour, but usually all with what they believe is the greater good, as well as their self-preservation, in mind.

It's a little like the hunger games but with magic.
