What a fun book. My son loved it. He always loves books about the alphabet and this book got him to try soup, how great!
Buck, Tyliyah and Trynity are sitting down to a delicious bowl of alphabet soup that Buck's mom made when something magical begins to happen within the bowl. Buck shouts out that the letters are moving around all on their own and urges the others to take a look. The three friends watch mesmerized as a word begins to form. The letters morph into the word jump and that's just what the three did. They bravely jumped into their bowls to experience an adventure of a lifetime.
The trio lands in a place that is inhabited by hippos, a rabbit, and a giraffe wearing cool sunglasses, just to name a few. Now that they are in this enchanted place seeing things that would not be possible in their reality they have to discover how they will find their way back home again? They must work as a team to make that happen. Can they do it?
The fun illustrations are vibrant, bold and colourful. I must admit though that the book left me a bit disappointed. I was expecting much more action and intrigue in their adventure. I did like the aspect of everyone having to work together to get back home, that certainly was a big plus. I feel that the book had great potential but not much substance to hold a child's interest or keep them excited to the end. The book is also a great tool to reinforce taking risks and how to problem solve.
Alphabet soup adventure was a cute idea, however I felt it fell short. Not much happened. They took off on a letter adventure but it moved very quickly where not much ended up happening.
I'll be honest I found this book a bit confusing. I enjoyed the premise but why did we go from alphaville to the zoo. Did the giraffe have to be in a zoo? Was the zool in alphaville? It was not a book for me sadly
This book tells the story of some children who read the word "jump" in their alphabet soup and then go on an adventure inside the soup. There are letters all over the place and they end up in a zoo (probably going from A to Z I think?). It is a pretty good story and I think some children would enjoy it, but it is not the most interesting or exciting book I've read. If you're looking for a picture book that brings young children an awareness of letters I think this would be a good book to consider. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book.
Cute children's story that teaches about how teamwork makes the dreamwork! Vivid illustrations, easy language, and a fun short story makes a great resource for any early childhood teacher. Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced readers copy. All opinions are my own.
What a cute book to “slurp” into!
The story is about children getting “slurped” into their soup. What fun filled adventures they are pulled into! Along the way they encounter hippos, giraffe and a rabbit. Andddddd, very angry strawberries!
The theme of the story revolves around working together.
My preschoolers sat and listened intently to the story. They liked the pictures.
We may have reread the story a few times :)
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Alphabet Soup Adventure is a wacky adventure, almost like Alice in Wonderland! Three friends travel to Alphaland by saying a magic word while eating alphabet soup. I would maybe have liked more spelling opportunities, to help kids learn to spell. Very fun.
