Just an Ordinary Love Story
by Jane Colt

A shortish read about Melissa and Richard who have been partners to work together when Richard returns after receiving a severe sports injury and has to pass science to graduate so begins relying on studious Melissa. But he hasn’t got to work hard to prove he is not still a former sports jerk but Melissa isn’t really staid as she is perceived to be and has a secret and who is Sam?

A light racy erotic story though not what I thought. A very light hearted read.

This book felt biphobic, I think that it very much infers that bisexual people must also have sexual partners of multiple genders in order to be satisfied. Moreover, the tone of this book made it feel like it was written for men, as I believe it catered to the male gaze. I think this because the sex scenes with two women and a man show the women performing for the man in a way which made me uncomfortable.

Thanks for this cover! It caught my eye and drew me into the story. Richard and Melissa have a history, of sorts, through Melissa's first year roommate. So when they ended up as lab partners in Chemistry, there was tension. Had Richard really changed? Jane Colt built in a very nice relationship dynamic between those two, but then she added in Samantha, Melissa's wife. So does Richard and Melissa and Samantha have a chance to work out their group dynamics or will someone be disappointed? Definitely not Just an Ordinary Love Story!

Thanks Netgalley for the chance to read this tale.

My Review
I received a copy of the book from NetGalley. The book is now out.

This was out of my wheelhouse. I usually shy away from anything that mentions a Sapphic couple, although I have no problem reading books where the main couple are guys, one of my quirks, I guess, but I was in the mood to try something different. The description of this book caught my eye, so I took a chance on it. I’m truly glad I did.
This book was a fun, sweet, sexy romp. As the story went on, I was able to hear both Richard’s and Melissa’s thoughts. I did have to suspend my disbelief for the book because I don’t think a married couple would really accept another into their dynamic, but that aside; I loved how the Melissa and Sam talked everything out and how they talked with Richard. This book was enjoyable.

Melissa is a college Coed who everyone thinks is pure as new snow. She picks up a new Chem Lab partner and it is not by choice and to make matters worse he is or was the star quarterback who had NFL aspirations, who has his pick of women and definitely arrogant and disrespectful to all. But due to an injury his life and viewpoint has changed. Richard finds he has started to develop feelings for Melissa, but can he tell her and how would he do it considering his past. Melissa has some secrets of her own she just happens to be Bisexual and married to a lifelong friend. They may just have a devious plan for Richard but you will have to read the story to find out. This is a quick and steamy read and at times really hot.

This was a fun upbeat read that is definitely NOT about an ordinary love story! It's got a "fairy tale" vibe though in a very untraditional sense. Everyone is happy and just wants love, and it's nice to read a story without drama and angst. I just wish the story was a little longer! I'll be looking for more from this author!
