Dracus is book 4 of the Lunar Uprising series featuring Addison and Dracus. We met Addison in Leko as she is Julia’s best friend. Now Addison has been brought up to the moon for her own safety. She wants to return to her life on earth but when her bar is destroyed by fire and Dracus asks her to give them a chance at a life together as she is his mate. Addison has watched her friend find happiness, but she is still skeptical about his mating between herself and commander Dracus though the attraction is undeniably there. Just as in the previous installments the action is plenty, the plot thickens as the Morax continue their lies and trickery and alliances are being explored as the newly freed Lunar raiders continue to seek true freedom from the Pylorians. The Dox Tory are turning out to be more involved and shady themselves and so how can one have a nice peaceful courtship. So, it’s not surprising that when Addison and Dracus give bonding a go, Earth is savagely attacked and she almost loses Dracus. This shows one that its important to grab happiness by both hands when its available and time is always of the essence. The Lunar raiders angst continue as Addison's mole arrives on Lunar Prime needing asylum as the war continues to heat up leaving us all impatiently waiting for the next story that will hopefully bring them closer to freedom. My review was given on the ARC copy received from the Publisher via NetGalley in return for my honest opinion, happy reading!

This was a wonderful science fiction / romance.

It was very steamy in places, but the characters were intriguing with the story line flowing at a really good pace.

A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Note: I received this book as an ARC from the publisher.

As a fan of sci-fi romance, this book was a fantastic read. Friberg is a new-to-me author, and this is the fourth installment in the series, but I felt like this book could easily be read as a standalone. Things were explained as they were happening to help provide context, and I really appreciated that.

If you enjoy sci-fi, romance, fated mates, and feisty heroines--this is the book for you! I look forward to reading the first three installments in order to meet the other characters!

Not really my cup of tea. I don't usually go for romances but this seemed like a different angle so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm still not into romances, but not because the book was bad. Just not my thing!

Life on the moon, political intrigue, warring aliens - is this so far in the future? Plausible alien interaction with Earth, including suspicions on both sides. And what fun would it be without the search tor true mates. A fun Sci Fi adventure.

DRACUS is the fourth instalment in Cyndi Friberg’s adult LUNAR UPRISING sci-fi, romance series. This is lunar raider Commander Dracus Soons, and human female/podcaster/bar owner Addison Doherty’s story line. DRACUS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately eight years earlier, six Pylorian spaceships arrived on Earth asking for asylum claiming they were fleeing their immortal enemy, the wolf-like Morax, but in the ensuing years, the Pylorian began to take control, using their considerable powers to force the governments of Earth to do their bidding. In an effort to protect Earth, the Pylorian’s claim to have cultivated aka created the lunar raiders, a hybrid of three alien species (Morax, Pylorian, Dox Tory) one of which reacts instantly when their destined mate is near.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dracus and Addison) DRACUS follows two pathways: the building romance and relationship between Addison and Dracus, and the ongoing war between the Morax, the Pylorians, the Lunar Raiders, the rebels, several outlying species, and the humans of Earth. The Pylorians have begun inhabiting Earth making humans dependant upon Pylorian technology but a new face has arrived in the war between worlds, a species offering hybrid weaponry capable of destroying warships and cities. When close to forty percent of the Guardians have deactivated from the Lunar Raider ‘collective’, Dracus and the his team must uncover the truth, leaving his mate behind.

Meanwhile, Addison Doherty struggles in the face of ‘abandoning’ her life on Earth for a romance and relationship with a hybrid male but Addison’s ‘choice’ is taken away when the Rebels target everything she left behind, taking our heroine prisoner in an attempt to take down the people in charge. Distraught and disheartened, Addison returns to Lunar Prime where she will fall in love with the mate of her heart but an attack leaves Dracus fighting for his life, as the Lunar Raiders must consider from whom and where the betrayal began.

The relationship between Addison and Dracus is one of fated mates, immediate attraction. Dracus knows Addison is his mate but Addison struggles in the face of her humanity, and leaving everything behind. Initially, a little TSTL, Addison returns to Earth believing all would remain the same but Addison is now a target, taking aim at our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We welcome the return of Leko and Julia, Zorak and Cat, Rogar and Marisol, as well as Leko’s guardian Numid, Commander Vosic, Dr. Benlon and Pylorian whistleblower Olarra Kreth. The requisite evil has many faces.

DRACUS is a story of betrayal and vengeance, discrimination and specieism, secrets and lies, understanding and acceptance, desperation, family, friendships and love. The fast paced premise captivating and entertaining-a combination of Star Wars™ and Star Trek™ technology, AI and sentient ships: the characters are powerful, energetic and strong; the romance is passionate and fated.

Dracus knows what it means to sacrifice and give of himself for others. That inner strength he has is very aptly demonstrated by one action that results in saving many. How his mate (Addison), his friends and his fellow raiders react shows just how much he means to them. Book 4 in the series.

Excellent world building, fated mates, action, mind links, a female main character with a very cool secret, and an alpha hero - Dracus is the fourth installment of Cyndi Friberg's Lunar Uprising series and is a great addition. This can be read as a stand-alone, but I think you'll enjoy it more if you have read some of the prior books. Definitely recommend if you like your Sci Fi romance with a heavy does of political intrigue and action.

Dracus, a Lunar Raider, knows Addison is his fated mate and tells her clearly at the beginning of the book, "You have lived in my dreams... you are my mate, Addison. And I am yours." Addison has her own priorities and life on Earth though, and isn't going to say yes just because of Dracus's proclamation or the panty-melting steam between them. Dracus is persistent, but tells Addison he wants to find a way to mesh their lives together and not take anything away from Addison (swoon). Of course it's not easy to work that out because both Dracus and Addison face adversaries and dangers.

The element that really makes Dracus stand out from the typical Sci Fi Romance is the thoughtful and insightful commentary on social/political topics like you would see in classic Sci Fi. Dracus and the other Lunar Raiders were created (rather than born) and awakened 5-6 years before the action of the book. This drives the external narrative arc and action as well as impacts Dracus's self-image, his relationship with Addison, and their feelings about the future and what their society should look like.

Two elements of the book contributed to my giving it a three star review (rather than higher): First, the writing feels inconsistent because there are scenes where I really get into and believe the relationships, and there are scenes where that emotional element of the dynamic isn't there. Second, the group of Lunar Raider Mates who becomes friends isn't really believable to me - they feel one dimensional as a pro-Lunary Raider Mates advocacy group. They were all characters in earlier books, and so could be more multi-dimensional. As friends, they seem really nosy and not very empathetic toward Addison. Additionally, they discuss and plan the economic development of the Lunar Raider's home, but it's not as thoughtful and well written as the political intrigue that the Lunar Raider's themselves face.

Overall, I love the world building in the Lunar Uprising series, and Dracus is a great visit to that world. The political intrigue and action in Dracus is really good. And the physical chemistry because Dracus and Addison is satisfyingly steamy.

How long can you fight your attraction? Addison knows that she attracted to Darcus but her place is back on Earth. She has important work that she needs to continue. Darcus can’t let Addison walk away as she is his mate but how can he let her go?
Addison is kidnapped & Darcus will do anything to get her back. But why take her?
Now that she is safe they give in to their attraction but danger is all around them. Will they get the happy ending or will it all be taken away from them?
A good read. Great characters.
Addison is very independent as she had to be from a young age and she just wants the truth to get out there even if it means putting herself in danger. Darcus is a strong warrior who just to keep his mate safe.
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review.

Lunar uprising-Dracus by Cyndi Friberg.
Luna uprising book 4.
Can a war-weary commander win the heart of his independent mate before the Pylorians silence her forever?
A brilliant read. I loved Addison and Dracus. Even Julia. Lots of action. The cover drew me in. 5*.
