Crafting your Own Cosy Scandi Christmas is a look into what a Scandinavian Christmas would be like.. This is a craft and recipe oriented book. The book has beautiful photos and step-by-step instructions. The author includes family and background information.

Many of the crafts are made from natural or recycled materials.. Including US measurements in the recipes would be a great addition.

I liked the information on candles and taking care of them. There are many cute things to make, but I could use more photos showing some of the steps. I thought the walnut pixies and gnomes were really cute. The moss candle wreath with the dried oranges was neat. The Nordic village made out of wood looks really good and is made from wood scrapes. I think a picture to go with every craft would be awesome.

I love crafting so this was an auto request book for me, I love the Scandi style too very pure and simple but still warm and homely. This book is full of wonderful crafts, recipes all types of things and different levels of skill (but all achievable) to being that Scandi touch to your Christmas. Perfect gift for a crafting friend or yourself

A beautifully illustrated book whose projects don’t seem overwhelming to the novice crafter/decorator. Loved that it incorporated the use of found materials like greens and branches and old sweaters. The recipes look good too! A lovely book to help you create a magical and relaxing Christmas vibe.

Hygge is about a sense of connection: warmth, family, and friendship – and what could possibly be more hygge than Christmas?

This lovely book is full of crafts, recipes, and fun to give your Christmas holidays a Scandinavian twist. These minimalist but stylish decorations and food are giving an environmentally-friendly Martha Stewart, with an emphasis on upcycled materials – old sweaters and gloves – or found items from nature.

You’ll need to have some basic crafting abilities and know your way around a kitchen to tackle many of these projects, but some are accessible for even the most novice of crafters, like the decoupaged candle that’s similar to a craft I learned as a child. Likewise, the clay ornaments are simple enough to make with your little ones but will also be simply elegant hanging on your tree. And don’t forget the coffee liquer that’s a breeze to whip up but fancy enough for gift giving.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Pen & Sword for providing me an advance copy of this book.

What a fun book! I love the mix of crafts and recipes and multiple ideas using one item (very environmentally friendly!) I am now on the lookout for a fun sweater with which to make various items from this book. I also hope to try out some of the recipes!
I think it would be a lot of fun to use this book as a family to create some memories together, whether it be baking, crafting or playing games. Super fun!!!
Thank you to Becci Coombes, Pen & Sword, and NetGalley for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have been slowly falling in love with Scandian Christmas for the past couple of years, and this book is outstanding. If you have ever had even just the tiniest interest in Scandi holidays this book is a must.

I enjoyed how it was broken down into sections, and the directions for each craft, recipe, etc. were very clear and simple to understand. I already have a list going for what we are going to try this holiday season, including the Candy Cane Game, Overnight Kanelsnegle, the Advent Candle, and making Julehjerter hearts.

Ok… your probably thinking what a grinch !! How can you not love a bit of Christmas crafting.
But Christmas is a huge deal in my house, by the 1st November I have decked the halls and am posting my Christmas cards with bing Crosby crooning in the background but this book is a book of two halves for me.
One half has some scrummy recipes , great craft suggestions and will make all your friends super jealous with your creations !
The other half … well unless you have nigella lawsons pantry and a hobby craft store in your back garden it’s going to cost you a small fortune to buy the ingredients and crafting tools to create everything in this book.

It is a lovely coffee table book and would make a very cute gift but I can’t see the majority of people being able to create everything this book contains

There are so many inspirational ideas in this book. It makes me wish my kids were young again so I could make traditions doing these activities.
I wish there were more pictures, especially in the craft section of the book.
I want to live inside this book.
I won a copy via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

I loved this. It basically has everything you need for Christmas, from craft ideas to gift ideas to recipe ideas and even ideas for games that the whole family can play.
In particular I loved the marzipan recipe and I can see myself getting plenty of use out of it.

Crafting your Own Cosy Scandi Christmas by Becci Coombs is a delightful look into what a Scandinavian Christmas would encompass. This is a craft/recipe/family oriented book influenced by the author’s Scandinavian background. The book is full of beautiful photos and easy step-by-step instructions. The author includes family antidotes and background information on many of the recipes and crafts.

Many of the crafts are natural materials which are found in nature. She also relies on recycled materials for many of the craft items. The book is family friendly and would be a wonderful way to incorporate a few new traditions to your repertoire. The Scandinavian treats could be made any time of the year. My only suggestion would have been to include US measurements in the recipes.

This is a delightful book.

I would like to thank Pen & Sword, White Owl, the author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Craft Your Own Cosy Scandi Christmas
4 Stars

This book is packed full of crafts, recipes and homemade gift ideas. My favorite part about Christmas is the traditions we have as a family. I like how most activities suggested are great ways to spend quality time together and make memories as a family. In my opinion, Christmas has been over commercialized in the US. Learning a new skill or experience is also a meaningful gift.

I was so delighted by a recipe for dough ornaments. I remember cute dough ornaments hanging on my grandparents' Christmas tree and look forward to making some for our tree this year. I also made a bath exfoliant recipe, and it's very hydrating.

I learned so much; the history behind the crafts and cooking recipes that I've been missing over the years. Thanks, NetGalley and White Owl, for an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A lovely book filled with Christmas memories along with crafts, food, and other traditions celebrated in Scandinavia. I remember a number of these recipes and crafts from own childhood in a Danish home. Easy to understand instructions, and realistic crafts and recipes. The only reason I wouldn't add it into the library's collection is simply the poor formatting (i.e. font, photo placement, etc...).

Craft your own cosy Scandi Christmas - Becci Coombes.

Loved it! Read it once and will read it again and take some notes the second time around. As I’ve gotten older I appreciate things like this more and I can’t wait to try most of these projects out.

I’d happily recommend this book to any Christmas crafter.

This is a comprehensive book with many ideas for Christmas decoration. It includes recipes, home decoration ideas and simple crafts to help make your Christmas celebrations stand out. The recipes are fairly easy to understand and follow, and the yarn crafts are displayed clearly in photographs with clear directions. There is even a section on games that can be played at gatherings, and simple gifts you can make for others. Definitely worth a look if you need inspiration for any aspect of your Christmas gatherings.

"Craft Your Own Cosy Scandi Christmas" by Becci Coombes is a collection of craft instructions, recipes, and family games centered around the Christmas season. Readers will find instructions for making felted coasters, macrame keyrings, scented bath salts, lotion candles, mulled wine, and a number of Scandinavian holiday dishes. The book is aimed more at a British audience than an American one, based on the measures in the recipes and the URLs for recommended vendors.

I suspect that my reading it on a Kindle was to the detriment of the book. Color photos of the gifts and holiday treats will add to its appeal. It's a fairly short book, with no pretenses to being a comprehensive collection, but that will likely work in its favor. Overall, a sweet distillation of crafts and recipes for the holiday season.

There’s always been something so magical to me about learning about Christmas traditions from around the world, so I was super excited to have the chance to read “Craft Your Own Cosy Scandi Christmas”.

This book of recipes and crafts is written in such a warm way that you don’t feel like an outside observer of all of this fun— you feel like an old friend has whisked you away to Christmastime in Denmark!

From a colorful wooden Nordic Christmas village to grace your windowsill or chocolate salami to give as a gift (or to eat all by yourself!), this will give you all the inspiration you need to add a touch of hygge to your household this Christmas.

The instructions are easy to understand and follow, but written with an extra level of care that is not often seen— the author really takes the time to dive into the technique. And I love that the ingredients/supplies are used across multiple projects, so that nothing goes to waste.

I know this book will keep me occupied all holiday season, and now I am definitely eager to check out other books from Becci Coombes!

Thank you so much to White Owl / Pen & Sword publishing for kindly providing me with an advance reader copy of this book!
