I love the then and now perspectives and style of writing and this novel does it particularly well. It puts you right in the action from the moment you start the novel-FBI, allegations of kidnappings, an abusive marriage that seems perfect on the outside…with plenty of twists on the way. A must read!!!
I enjoy these types of thrillers! Hooks you from the beginning and plenty of twists along the way. Not always a fan of then and now writing, but the story was well written and the twists were unpredictable. Thank you for the digital copy!
Wow what an amazing tense , suspenseful read this was . I loved the main character and was convinced there was something fishy about her lol , she was a very brave lady . It would be a hard read for anyone that had been in a controlling relationship., this was taking controlling to the extreme. Brilliant book I would recommend to anybody, definitely 5 star from me
Oh boy! What a read this one was. The Ex Wives had me hooked from the beginning. I did not expect how much this book could shock me when I started it.
Following Elana and Jackson in ‘Then’ and ‘Now’ style chapters. Then – the loved up couple before the marriage and the Now – Elana unhappy in her abusive marriage, trying anything she can to get away. But she has to be careful. Her husband is ruthless and very dangerous.
This book took so many turns along the way. I couldn’t believe why I was reading, it had me turning page after page. Needing to know what happened next. This was definitely a ‘just one more chapter’ kind of read.
Filled to the brim with a mix of lovely and evil characters. The type you feel connected to so much you just want to scream at them from the outside and warn them. The sneaky sly characters that are just told what to do that make you feel quesy and then there is Jackson the one you feel pure hatred for.
A solid 5⭐️ read that I will definitely be recommending. Out on the 10th of October and 💯 worthy of your preorder.
Thank you to both the publisher Bookouture and Netgalley for my review copy in exchange for my honest review.
Kernan has done it again. Bringing us a fresh new exciting thriller.
The Ex-Wives by Jenna Kernan intrigued me from the beginning.
I had no idea the outcome would be what it was!
Her characters kept me reading for hours on end.
And the tension written within this story was wild.
I love this authors writing. She knows I how to hook, grab and pull a reader in, in a matter of minute's.
A tense, wild, interesting read and I can't wait to share it with other's.

Dark and chilling I read this book in one sitting it was well written with a compelling storyline that had me gripped right from the start. it was twisty and unpredictable and kept me guessing.
Secrets Will Out…
Twists aplenty in this dark, domestic suspense with a menacing undercurrent. Elana seems to have an idyllic life with too good to be true husband Jackson and her little girl Phoebe. Everything is perfect isn’t it? It’s all about to come crashing down. Secrets will out and when they do, Elana must act. Told through a dual timeline with well crafted characters and an edgy narrative, this is an immersive and tension fuelled read.
Jenna Kernan's writing snagged me from the first page. I loved the story of a young widow, Elana, finding love again with the mayor of a small Florida town. Jackson was good-looking, powerful, and wealthy. He made Elana and her daughter, Phoebe, feel loved again. Elana lost her first husband, Gavin, early in their marriage. She was lost without her husband and left with little income and a very young child.
Jackson, handsome and charismatic, swept in and changed Elana's life. She went from poor to wealthy in short order. One problem popped up. While getting dressed for her wedding rehearsal dinner, one of Jackson's former wives, Shantel, came to her room and warned Elana that she shouldn't marry Jackson. Elana fled the room and Shantel was removed by Jackson and his brothers. The wedding festivities began with a huge ruckus and the Cinderella life Elana thought she had began to unravel when they returned from their honeymoon. Jackson controlled all aspects of Elana's life. She began to feel that Shantel may have given her good advice.
I enjoyed this cat and mouse thriller rooting for Elana with every page. Lessons can be learned from a novel such as this one. Make sure you truly know the man who appears as a prince in your life. Always make sure you have a backup plan for yourself. Read this book - it's a good one!
Thank you, NetGalley, and the publisher for this e-ARC.
I absolutely loved this book! It kept me hooked from start to finish and I was desperate to continue reading it to find out what happened. I was incredibly relieved that it finished the way that it did and audibly let out a sigh of relief when I got to the end. Would love to read more by Jenna.
Unfortunately this one was a bit of a miss for me. I found it to be kinda slow, with the exciting parts only at the end. Elena’s character was good, she was smart & strong. But the rest of it I just felt made me angry more than anything. The ending was good & it was good writing.
To the outside world, Jackson seems like the perfect man: handsome, charming, and rich. But after widowed mother Elana marries him, she quickly learns that he’s not who he pretends to be. He’s controlling, demanding, and abusive, all the things Elana was warned about by his supposedly “crazy” ex-wife when she crashed their wedding rehearsal. Elana now has reason to believe that her daughter Phoebe will be in danger if she runs— she’s learned from the FBI that his two ex-wives both had daughters who disappeared after they left Jackson. Realizing that she and Phoebe’s lives are both at stake, Elana begins plotting her escape.
This book was GRIPPING… it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Just when I thought I had something figured out, there would be another twist. If you’re looking for a solid domestic thriller, I highly recommend this one.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advance review copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I wasn't hooked right away--it took me a few chapters to get used to the writing style--but once I did, there was no going back. So much going on, so many pieces at play. Lots of suspense. Gripping. Great characters. So many twists. Action. A great read.
my first book buy this author and I so enjoyed Elana loses her first husband in a car accident and they had a daughter Phoebe .Elana is bringing her up struggling then one day she meets Jackson Belaura and she falls in love with him he rich handsome and very powerful. but before her wedding an ex wife warns her not to marry him she thinks she has a drink problem and takes no notice. but things change once they are married. and you would do anything to protect your daughter i so recommend this book very addictive
If you’re looking for a new domestic thriller look no further than The Ex Wives by Jenna Kernan out October 10th!
Two ex wives, two missing daughter, will Elana’s daughter Phoebe be next? Elana learns her husband may be hiding more than he let on when an FBI agent visits her wonderful home. Elana thought all her problems were solved when she married wealthy Jackson, but she soon learned there’s more than meets the eye. Under the guise of being hurt in the past Elana isn’t allowed to work, or buy anything that hasn’t been pre-approved by Jackson. He also stalks her every move and won’t allow her anywhere he doesn’t know. Elana can’t shake an uneasy feeling after being approached from the FBI, but could her husband really have taken those two girls? When the abuse moves from her to her daughter can Elana come to the rescue and save both of them from her husband?
I really enjoyed this book and was intrigued with the premise. I enjoyed the dual timeline as I thought it was done extremely well. I don’t think this book was predictable per day but it did follow the typical domestic thriller vibe. There was one twist that I suspected, but thoroughly enjoyed the revealing. I gave this book a solid 4 and would highly recommend to anyone looking for their next domestic thriller!
Not a bad read overall although unfortunately it didn't grip me even though there were twists and turns and I was disappointed with the ending.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
Twisty turning a book that drew me right in a book I could not put down.Edge of your seat thriller that keeps you guessing from first page to last.well written tense grab this book follow this author.#netgalley #bookouture
Thank you to NetGalley, Jenna Kernan and Bookouture for letting me read a copy of this book.
A captivating, fast paced and highly engaging read the reader is on the edge of their seat from beginning to end.
A husband who can offer you all you could ever ask for...or can he? Or what is the cost? The narrative follows Elana through past and present moments, thrusting you into the action from the very beginning of her relationship with Jackson, her husband.
Ultimately a story about control, domestic violence, being a victim and survival, I read this in a weekend and enjoyed it. I was rooting for Elana and felt so invested in her journey with her daughter Phoebe. The narrative was easy to follow even with a high number of flashbacks and the twists that came were unpredictable which is always engaging in a thriller novel. An excellent book.
Big thanks to netgalley, Jenna Kernan, and Bookouture for giving me an arc to this one!
I really enjoyed this one, too often with thrillers too much time is spent at the start introducing the characters and setting before we get to any actual plot. Not the case at all here, instead we just jump right in on the first page with the FBI turning up, and Elana being told of her husband's possible involvement in the two missing children of his exwives.
The first half is told in alternate chapters of past and present, giving us insight into how Elana and Jackson worked together as a couple during the start of their relationship, and their abusive, controlling reality present day. There are some especially strong chapters that were impossible to pause, and watching Elana be more and more resourceful was a treat.
There were times when some aspects were a little repetitive (ating which brother was the youngest and oldest in the family several chapters in a row became a little much for me) and towards the middle I found the pacing slower. But, that being said the ending more than made up for it, I won't spoil a thing, but let's just say it solidified my 4 star rating.
Interestingly, the description here doesnt match up to the actual story, almost as if it was written for a very old draft of the book, so it may be updated in the future.
The Ex-Wives describes one of the most horrifying psychological thrilling scenarios that I've read in recent times. Draw to a man who seems like her Prince Charming, Elana soon realizes that Jackson is not all he appears to be. In this fast-paced novel of obsession, power, and manipulation, Jenna Kernan lays the roadmap for a suspenseful ride. This thriller had me hooked from the very beginning, and I became passionate in my desire to read to the end. Kernan writes a tearful tale of how the life we pursue is not always the life we are given.

I really couldn’t put this down! After finding her husband had two previous wives, she contacts the ex wives. They both had daughters go missing after they left their husband. Now, she needs to protect her daughter at all costs!
