The Ex-Wives describes one of the most horrifying psychological thrilling scenarios that I've read in recent times. Draw to a man who seems like her Prince Charming, Elana soon realizes that Jackson is not all he appears to be. In this fast-paced novel of obsession, power, and manipulation, Jenna Kernan lays the roadmap for a suspenseful ride. This thriller had me hooked from the very beginning, and I became passionate in my desire to read to the end. Kernan writes a tearful tale of how the life we pursue is not always the life we are given.

I really couldn’t put this down! After finding her husband had two previous wives, she contacts the ex wives. They both had daughters go missing after they left their husband. Now, she needs to protect her daughter at all costs!

I loved this book! It was super suspenseful and I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it :). I was very pleased with ending and was definitely left wanting more at the end.

I do not know where to start with this book. It was fantastic! I was literally hooked and could not put it down! It was suspenseful, thrilling, and enjoyable. The publisher of this book seems to know how to pick them. I have not been disappointed in any of theirs so far. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to review this book. My vote is 5 stars!

The ex wives was an exhilarating and totally satisfying read. A breakneck fast, brutally good page-turner. Yet another fine outing from the master of thrillers Jenna Keenan. Hits the ground running and the pace never misses a beat.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.
I enjoyed this read by Jenna Kernan, I just wish it had the thrill and wow factor for me. I thought it was written well, it flowed well and I liked the past and present time lines that set the story up nicely. At times I did think the writing was a little too overly descriptive and I skimmed the pages a bit more then. But, if you want to hate a character, have absolute loathing for one, then Jenna Kernan did that job really, really well in creating the main male character who I absolutely hated with a passion. When Elana meets Jackson, she thinks she has found Mr Perfect and goes ahead and marries him despite being warned off the day before her wedding. I thought Elana was a brave, determined and likeable character who is prepared to do anything and everything to protect her daughter. Without giving too much away the plot line is good, showing how appearances can be so very, very deceptive to the reality of what really happens and goes on behind closed doors. I loved the increase in tension and suspense in the last quarter of the book, I was very absorbed in the story by this point and eager to know what would happen next. I thought the first half of the story didn’t have the menace, atmosphere, tension and suspense that was in the last part of this book, and mainly why this read didn’t quite wow or thrill me. This was still a good read though and I’d look to reading the authors other books.

I got this one as an ARC from NetGalley and I am so glad. This was one of the most intense books I read all year. I couldn't stop for even a minute once I started it. I was cooking while reading, brushing teeth while reading, and trying to clean house while reading. I was completely hooked.
Our protagonist is a young widow with a little girl who falls hard and fast for Mr. Perfect. At the wedding a strange woman warns her to run - but she doesn't. Her husband keeps her on a short leash. She is monitored every second of the day while she tries to find a way to escape and save her daughter. For a bit about 30% through I thought she had figured it out and I was holding my breath for 50 or 60 pages. I could have died!
Anyway, the whole things gets getting stranger and more terrifying. Close to the end there is a huge reveal.
All I am saying is if a man decides I need to wear pastels I will run in about 5 seconds. I would literally rather die.
My girls and I are not pastel people.
This book made me glad for my large extended family and 1000 friends. Plus I am not above making new friends as a means to escape a man with bad taste in clothes.
I highly reccomend this one. Read it for sure!

This book was a intense read.. very gripping and a heavy read if you don't like books like this.
I did like it though

The ex-wives by Jenna Kernan releasing October 2022. This book needs a trigger warning! It was so intense that it was difficult for me to read. What if you marry a man whose two ex wives little girls disappear when they divorced him. Now you must escape his control but you have a daughter you must protect

I read this book in a few hours so it was interesting enough to keep my attention! It wasn’t a gripping, nail biting thriller but more of a quick, mystery where the ending is tidied up into a neat little bow. There were some bits of mystery that made you wonder what was up until nearly the end. And there was one part that upset me, but even that was rectified in the end. If you want to enjoy a book on a lazy afternoon then this book might just be the ticket!

Innovative...suspenseful...surprising...family and friends, enemies, who cares? Love and romance...separation...mystery and intrigue...this book has it all. This is a talented and gifted author who has woven a story that is a cannot put down. Red herrings abound. Don't try to discern the ending too early...don't read the last pages first. That is what this book is about...surprise ending...this is a character driven book with likable characters, some of them...This book was sent to me by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher for the electronic copy. Although the story moves slowly, at times, it is still a great read. Don't miss this.

Wow! This book was awesome! It had high suspense, intrigue, action, and was sad at times and triumphant at others! The storyline was very interesting and had me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book! It was a great read! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

The Ex-Wives is a fast-paced read that kept me turning the pages. Author Jenna Kernan does a commendable job of sustaining a simmering tension that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Elana is alone with a young daughter when she meets Jackson, who is everything she could have hoped for and more. Yes, Elana admits, he is a bit controlling, but that is only because he loves her so much and wants to keep her and young Phoebe safe. But upon learning that Jackson has not one but two ex-wives, each who had their own young daughter, Elana begins to wonder just what danger she has allowed to enter the life that she and her daughter share. Has the perfect Jackson been deceiving her from the very start?
This exciting new to me author is one I will be watching.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

“The Ex-Wives” is a domestic thriller by Jenna Kernan. This book initially caught my attention by the very striking cover. While parts of this book were rather predictable (a wife trying to escape an unhappy marriage), Ms. Kernan added in a few extra bits to make this book a good read. At times the writing was repetitive, but overall the book was a good read, especially toward the end.

The book cover for this is what caught my eye initially, simple but a bold and striking colour. Already created that air of mystery, so we’ll done there.
This story itself is a good one, easy writing style, good quick read. Vividly written characters that really come to life with the skill of this author.
Really got carried away with this one, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for my arc.

Unfortunately I had to DNF. I couldn't connect with the writing style and I found what I did read of the book to be boring. I'm clearly not the intended audience and I wish the author all the best in reaching that audience.

The Ex Wives by Jenna Kernan kept me up reading way past my bedtime that’s for sure. I had to make sure our main antagonist - Jackson- got what he deserved. Jenna managed to keep the reader interested from page one, which I loved. I appreciate the meat coming right off the bone in the very beginning.
Would definitely recommend to my thriller lovers and book club!
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to receive an arc in exchange for an honest review- all thoughts and opinions are my own!

Spoiler alert.
Thank you to NetGally, Bookouture, and Jenna Kernan for this ARC.
This was a page-flipping domestic thriller.
The writing seemed clunky to me at points (too many adverbs and similes, overly-descriptive), yet I still found the story compulsively readable.
The narrative was predictable in its genre format of trapped, hapless wife and abusive, powerful husband, but Jenna Kernan drew out the suspense with enough tension to keep me rooted to the book, wanting to see what would happen. The ending did not disappoint (especially about Chase).
Three stars, and I would read other books by this author.

The Ex-Wives is a fast paced page turner.. The author, Jenna Kernan, cleverly weaves and twists tidbits of information into the story. Elana should’ve seen what was ahead of her but she didn’t until it was too late. Intrigued as to how things would play out, I read it in a day.
Thank You to Bookouture, NetGalley, and Jenna Kernan for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Jenna Kernan for letting me read “The Ex Wives”.
“Their daughter’s went missing. Is yours next?”
I love myself a read cover. I can’t say really what this he is. A chip in some kind of pottery? A gaping black whole? Three wedding bars for the ex wives and the current one? Attention grabbing yes, understanding it? Nope?! 🤔oh well…
Elana is a widow with a young daughter, Phoebe. She thought she found love (or rather security ) again with wealthy Mayor of a small town, Jackson. But Jackson is not what he seems to be. Two times divorced at age 35. The mysterious thing is, the fighters of the ex wives disappeared after they divorced him. Elana does not believe in rumours, even after being warned by an ex wife. After the wedding Jackson changes. Narcissistic behaviour, controlling. But at first Elana does not dare to disappear because of fear for her daughters safety. Until an accident on sea changes everything…
I came to the conclusion that this book is average. It got better towards the end.
The book is divided into now and then, third person narrating. Slow domestic suspense, not very thrilling and slightly boring at times. Halfway through I got really bored with the story and Elana. The writing is ok, bland at times. I found the characters a bit flat to be honest. Though, good that Elana got her act together and stood up for herself. That was such an toxic relationship already without the missing girls.
I did not find the “big twist” at the end very impressive.
