This is a wonderful, heartwarming collection of short stories. Each story had a different flare to it but my favourite would be the boxing story by Faridah Abíké-íyímídé. I just wished I have read this as a child because it centers and highlights black and black muslim joy, I also adored the variety in the different writers voices. I loved that there was representation of different black identities even muslim!

A NetGalley ARC. A great collection of short stories, would love to go back to this as an audio book. Such a rich set of writers and it was interesting for many of them to write in a different context. Will definitely purchase a physical book.

With contributors including Malorie Blackman, Alex Wheatle, Faridah Abike-Iyimide, Sharna Jackson and Dorothy Koomson, this perfect package curated by British Book Awards Illustrator of the Year Dapo Adeola with a foreword by the award-winning Patrice Lawrence is a book to be treasured. Joyful Joyful sums this book up perfectly. It's such an enjoyable read, bursting with life and vibrancy. I can't wait to hold print copy in my hands to get the full benefit of the expressive illustrations. I loved this book think young readers from upper KS2 onwards will too. Thanks to Netgalley.

Joyful, Joyful is a glorious collection of short stories, poems and illustrations. The variety of writers and illustrators is huge, and there certainly is something for everybody in this beautiful book. There are even a couple of recipes: one for jollof rice and the other for a plantain dish to get your tastebuds going. It was lovely to see so many authors represented, and I’ll be looking out for other work by those authors I was unfamiliar with.
Highly recommended for every classroom!
