What was delightful and unexpected about this collection was that it was stitching focused more on who Bob Ross was. It's full of some of his signature phrases/philosophies. I'm a fan of a pattern that isn't too much from a size perspective, and I thought these were a very manageable commitment for a project. I cross-stitch a lot, so the instructions aren't necessarily for me, but with that, I'm appreciative of instructions done really well. And y'all, these were a solid set of instructions. All-around, this is just a solid collection of patterns that I loved. Thanks to NetGalley for the look at this one - It's taken me a minute to browse through, but now that I have, I'm happy trees level happy to know what's here.

.This is a fun little book using quotes made by the famous painter, Bob Ross, in a variety of cross stitch patterns. The patterns are not the cross stitch of any of the actual paintings Ross has painted, but these are simple sampler designs that would be fun projects for young learners and beginning cross stitchers alike. The patterns are simple enough they could be finished in an afternoon, and would make very nice gifts for Bob Ross fans.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book.

Bob Ross has become so ubiquitous that the existence of this book is absolutely no surprise. It's exactly what you would expect from a cross stitch book - easy to follow charts for the patterns and directions for the stitches.

This cross stitch book definitely hits the nostalgia mark, but the patterns are a little weak. The author focused on the popular sayings by Bob Ross, instead of the familiar pictures that he made each week. The best pattern in the bunch is the a monochromatic Bob Ross, as it is instantly recognizable. Some of the patterns use colorations that are off and, though that can be fixed by those experienced cross stitchers, this book is more designed for the beginner.

Overall, Bob Ross Cross Stitch: 12 Happy Little Cross Stitch Patterns brings to mind the phrases of the man, but little of the art for which he is most known. For that reason, I would not recommend this craft book to other readers.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Readers Copy by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to read and review this craft book was mine alone.

The patterns and layout of this book were pretty straight-forward and easy to follow. While there wasn't anything that I think I'd actually stitch, it was kind of fun hearing Ross's voice in my head as I read each quote 😉.

Lots of brilliant designs which take the sayings of Bain Ross and make them into a great little art piece - perfect talking point to have on a shelf or mantle! However, would have been nice to see more of his landscapes incorporated into designs.

I've adored Haley's previous cross-stitch work, and this was just as amazing! As someone that grew up watching Bob Ross with my grandparents, I loved the patterns and appreciate being able to make such beautiful gifts that will be cherished by fans.

This is great fun! The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and even a beginner would be able to complete any of the patterns in this book. Rather than being stitched recreations of Ross's work, the patterns are inspirational quotes by Bob Ross set into original patterns by the author, my favorite being "You have to have dark in order to show light." And of course, there are happy little trees!

I found this to be missold and immensely disappointing as a result. Bob Ross was an incredible artist, I took these patterns as a chance to stitch version of his art - not twee takes of 'inspirational' quotes. Of the patterns, there's only a few I would actually stitch for my Bob Ross-superfan brother, otherwise I would not recommend this book at all.

A reference book for Bob Ross inspired patterns, this guide doesn't waste time with all the extra fluff many craft books do. It has a short section in the beginning of the book dedicated to getting started. Spanning only 5 pages, this section goes over supplies, making a cross stitch, and even washing your hands among other topics.

After that, it immediately jumps into the patterns. A quick scroll through them shows many themes and quotes related to the late painter. While they are all simple and cute, it's here we see where some could have issues with them. Firstly, the patterns are done in colors only, no symbols. While this isn't an issue for some, the decision excludes notable demographics. Secondly, others may be disappointed by the level of complexity and variety. All the patterns are beginner level. While this doesn't take away from their aesthetic appeal, some crafters may be let down that there aren't more complex ones. They are also all the same size regardless of the actual design.

Overall, this a perfect book for the stitcher wanting an easy yet adorable project. Even if you don't know who Bob Ross is, the author chose the most relatable and touching quotes that appeal to a wide variety of people beyond Ross's fans.

Bob Ross Cross Stitch is a sweet collection of 12 small patterns by Haley Pierson-Cox for cross stitch bundled with enough fabric and floss to complete two projects from the book. Released 30th Aug 2022 by Quarto on their becker&mayer! imprint, it's 48 pages and is available in kit form. The ebook format is also available without supplies included for a reduced price.

It's nice to see cross stitch getting some attention and this is an attractive, albeit short, collection of Bob Ross' perennial encouraging advice. The designs are very simple and graphically bold. There are no partial stitches, very little shading, and no backstitching or outlining. The designs are all square, and about 70x70 stitches, so they can be completed in a weekend or a few short stitching sessions. They would make great encouragement gifts for a friend, or as a positive reminder in our own home/studio.

The arc provided for review was in electronic format, so this review lacks any evaluation of the included kit materials. The fabric as pictured looks like 14ct white aida cloth (good for even new beginners), embroidery floss, a wooden circular tension hoop, and a needle.

The included designs are -not- landscapes; they're simple and encouraging sayings from Mr. Ross such as "Sometimes you learn more from your mistakes than from your masterpieces", "Anything we don't like, we'll turn into a happy little tree", and "We don't make mistakes, just happy accidents".

Four stars, with the codicil that this isn't a book of landscapes at all.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Do you like Bob Ross? Do you cross stitch or know someone who does? If the answer to either is yes, then you should definitely buy this book! It is a wonderful way for those who don't paint to still make his designs. I LOVE this book!

If you’re a fan of Bob Ross and either interested in cross stitching or already a cross stitcher, this is a must have! It has 12 wonderful Bob Ross inspired patterns that include some of his inspirational wisdom. Each pattern is simple and easy to follow in addition to including some project prepping tips for beginner cross stitchers next to each pattern. Speaking of new cross stitchers, the opening is full of easy to follow instructions on how to cross stitch ranging from tips and tricks on how to prepare to great finishing instructions. There are also a few graphs on the basics of stitching, but I think some people may do well with looking up a video as well since the graphs are limited.

All in all, this is a great book that is a must have for any crafty fan of Bob Ross, whether you’re new to cross stitching or a seasoned stitcher.

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH i got so into cross stitching during COVID and I loved the have these adorable patterns. It's so hard to find patterns that aren't made for the "grandma" aesthetic and this one was so much fun. They were beautiful but extremely modern!

I was super excited about a Bob Ross cross stitch book, as he produced so many beautiful images in his career. However, this was not what I was expecting. It was a "Bob Ross quotes" cross-stitch book.

I felt a bit misled by the image on the cover which incorporates a bit of one of his landscape images, but found the patterns inside to be a bit lack-luster and I sadly wasn't inspired to try any of them. However, the book does provide a nice introduction to cross-stitch and some tips for those new to it.

Sorry to say that this book wasn't what I was expecting and if I had been able to flip through the pages in a store, I likely wouldn't have bought it.

Thank you regardless for this opportunity to review and advanced copy.

I reviewed "Bob Ross Cross Stitch" by Haley Pierson-Cox on NetGalley. I have been cross-stitching off and on for over 25 years. And I loved this book! You can't go wrong with Bob Ross wisdom. I plan on making at least one for a Christmas present, if not more.

I don’t know how to cross stitch but I may learn just so that I can give my hand at some of these Bob Ross patterns, ranging from: “Just let your imagination go” to “Let’s Get Crazy, What the Heck”, to Trees Cover Up a Multitude of Sins.” Absolutely love to see it! If you’re going to learn how to cross stitch… Might as well do it with Bob!
