Rachel Grant will have you on the edge of your seat when a training exercise turns into a deep and terrifying fight for survival. With romance in the cards . What more could you want?
I was really pleasantly surprised by this book! The plot was something I hadn’t read before for a romantic suspense and it kept me hooked till the end! I was there as much for the plot as well as the relationship.
Our hero and heroine have a one night stand and then the hero almost gets the heroine fired. Fast forward a couple of months and the two are thrown together when a military training exercise goes terribly wrong and there are real life terrorists and casualties and they are both fighting for their lives.
This book really kept you on the edge of your seat waiting for what would happen next and the pacing was excellent. I like the unfolding of what happened previously to tear the two apart as well as them rebuilding the broken trust. Overall a great romantic suspense read.
Rachel Grant is fantastic at combining sweet swoony romance with suspenseful action worthy of a Marvel movie! I loved this book and look forward to reading more from Grant.
I did not like the hero or the progression of the romance. The story didn't really grab or the characters not a goog read for me.
would like to thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this brilliant book
whats not to like about a book that starts as it means to go on.. action from the first page right to the very end
seal team
national park
mercenaries
murder
the training op was underway nobody should have been up at the lodge in the national park looking around but that is just what audrey was doing, her cameras were down and with the storm coming she needed to find out why, what she wasnt expecting was to be thrown on the ground and handcuffed...
and thats when things started to get interesting....
i couldnt put this book down... so different from what i have read recently and will be keeping an eye out for more of this authors books...
INTO THE STORM By Rachel Grant
Xavier Rivera planned the exercise down to the smallest detail, but he didn't plan the arrival of archaeologist Audrey Kendrick—a woman he shared a passionate night with before betraying her in the worst way. As the storm is unleashed on the historic lodge it becomes clear the training has been compromised. Trapped by weather, isolated by the remote wilderness, and silenced as communication with the world has been severed, unarmed SEALs face an unexpected and deadly foe.

P.S- This book will make a fabulous movie provided directed well and if they do not change the story by adding more spice.
Thank you, Rachel Grant (you are a fantastic find for me) and Janus Publishing for a copy.
I’m really torn about how to rate this. Five stars for plot. This is real life type events, non-stop action like Rachel Grant excels in crafting. Characterization is 3.5 stars. There is not much growth. I like the heroine, but I don’t much care for Xavier. Their romance doesn’t come across as real. We all know that having a baby doesn’t make a relationship after especially when the couple literally doesn’t know each other, as in the case of this plot. So- I’ll go for an average and give it a 4. Rachel Grant writes fabulous books, and this one is good. Read it. Enjoy the action.
Oh my what a great read! Hunky SEALs , a strong heroine, and lots of suspense and action. What more can a girl ask for! Can’t wait to read the next book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Absolutely amazing! I loved all the character depth and build of the story. I was kept engaged and intrigued and needing to turn the page.
I really really enjoyed this book a lot. I was hooked from the very beginning all the way until the end. The plot was so interesting it kept me wanting to read more and more. I couldn’t put it down. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley I need to buy this book. I highly recommend this one
This book has so much going on but the author makes it all work. It takes place in Washington at the Olympic National Park, what is supposed to happen is a training exercise for a team of Navy Seals for a mission that they have coming up. Xavier Rivera is the Seal who is in charge and put everything together including destroying the reputation of one Audrey Kendrick the ONP archeologist and also the person Rivera had a one-night stand with, but he still was willing to destroy her for his training.
Now with her cameras going down, she decides to go to find out what is happening with her items. She still has something to tell Xavier and she is wondering if they will ever meet again even after all he did to ruin her, but she cannot help but think about the night that they spent together. Not really want to see him again.
When Rivera and his partner get a notice of an alarm he figures it is her wanting to disrupt the training since she is so upset that he won the approval. Once they are together and then they also begin to look for her friend Geroge it takes a while to realize that there is something else going on and that what is happening is there to take out the Seals since they are unarmed. Now the two of them must work together to fight because he is still recovering from an injury and she begins to help him. This is a good book with different situations and different people to move the story along. A pace and a good story that with all of the characters make for a book that is suspenseful and action-packed, very much worth the read.
CAPTIVATING plot , well written with great characterization & an abundance of intrigue & suspense. Enjoyed immensely & RECOMMEND totally for a very satisfying read. I have to backtrack & catch up with other books of this talented author. Thanks to #Janis Publishing & #NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest review.
I read through the night to finish this thriller that turns into a nightmare. Spooky, tense, richly atmospheric and profoundly moving! This author turns the psychological thumbscrews with relish. This great read spirals towards its dark conclusion, wrong footing the increasingly uneasy reader at every turn.
I have mixed feelings about this book - I liked the writing and the adventure, but I didn't take to the two main characters particularly, but most especially Xavier the hero, which spoilt the read for me.
The romance just didn't work for me on several levels (spoilers ahead here) - I didn't like how quick and intense this all was - pregnant by a one night stand (this is revealed in the first few pages) and then what? trauma bonding during a really intense and stressful if short lived experience facing armed terrorists and suddenly BAM they're in love? I couldn't swallow it. Nor did I like Xavier at all - there had to be a better way to get his project up and running than by completely undermining Audrey professionally, in a completely sexist way, almost losing her her job. How she could forgive him for believing that was an appropriate way to move things ahead when she had a child on the way she anticipated she would be supporting as a single parent, I don't know. He redeemed himself very much later when he put her above his job by resigning from the Navy but frankly, too little too late for me. I just couldn't believe in their romance at all, they didn't seem to have enough in common or know each other well at all.
Disappointing really, because as i say, the adventure was exciting and the writing moved along at a fair old pace.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Janus Publishing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I believe that this is part of a series. I am an archaeologist so this was a fun treat for me! So fun to read how authors think things work in my profession. The characters are interesting but what the heck..why was Xavier such a jerk! wow the way he treated her was horrible. I guess it goes to show, you love who you love. Lots of suspense. This one was a real ride. Loved it super fun read. 4 stars
Rachel Grant returns to the top of her game with INTO THE STORM, the first book in her new Evidence: Under Fire series. This military procedural hits the ground running from the first chapter and doesn’t let up until the very end. There’s little time to draw a breath, and while it’s also a romance, the suspense definitely takes first dibs.
...
I’m looking forward to seeing where this series will go next. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense or, like me, have Rachel Grant on your auto-buy list, you’ll love Into the Storm.

Into the Storm has a good plot, an exercise for a team of SEALs turns out in a real fight for life under strenuous circumstances and quite a few fatalities. However, I did not expect so much emphasis on romance, although playing an interesting part in the plot, sometimes it was just over the top... Entertaining!
Xavier Rivera has planned a training exercise down at the historic park lodge at Olympic National Park. to the last detail but he did not count on the arrival of park archaeologist Audrey Kendrick or a group of Russian mercenaries who are out to extract revenge. The whole operation falls apart and his team of Seals realizes it's not a training op and the ammunition is real. They become trapped by weather in the isolated wilderness and all communication to the team and the rest of the world has been severed. Xavier betrayed Audrey to her boss in the worst way after spending the night with her, but they must set aside their animosity and work together to save a Seal Team under fire and survive the elements.
This is one of Grant's best books to date. It is a suspenseful journey of good guys versus bad guys and the people in between. The writing, the storyline, the suspense and pace were all great. The characters were well developed and the storm and the lodge itself contributed to the atomosphere. Audrey is strong, smart and resourceful and Xavier is not as he first seems. There was also a nice twist at the end.
Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
