Lately, I am not reading too much romance novels anymore but I figured I'd try 'Into the Storm' because the synopsis kind of reminded me of the Rock Chick series which I did really enjoy.

I did quite like Audrey and the fact that her job was something quite unusual (at least in my world it is). However, even though I did enjoy this, I think this is also the reason why a good junk of the story went over my head. I just couldn't really grasp what she would actually be doing every day. Also, I didn't really understand what the SEALs were really trying to do there for the first half of the book. Hence, I guess this framework for the story just didn't really work for me.

However, I can definitely see that other readers will enjoy this. After all, it is exactly what the synopsis promises - a romantic suspense involving Navy Seals and a few lovable (and hateable) characters. So, if you are looking for a story like that (and know a little more than I do about Navy Seals and archeology), I would definitely recommend picking this up!

I received an ARC copy from Netgalley for an honest review. A new series from Rachel Grant and a spin off of her Evidence series. This book gave me the exact adrenaline shot I needed. A successful combination of SEALs, high skilled and mind setted heroines, and vicious villains to purchase. This is an authentic very well written Rachel Grant. I highly recommend it if you like both suspense and military romance.

I completely enjoyed this book! From the start Rachel Grant had you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out who was the bad guy. Audrey was great she was willing to go the distance no matter what Xavier said she was going to do what she came to lodge to do. Xavier was interesting a man in conflict on something he did even though he felt it was his on choice and he would do it again if he had to. Great suspense to the very end.

Really wanted to enjoy this story, and I did in parts but found it very difficult to get into it. The second half is definitely better

A Five-star read that will set your heart pounding like a tremulous storm. This is number one in the Evidence: Under fire series, and I am so excited to see who we will hear from next, as this author has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat. Into the storm was so gripping that I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it and had to read a couple of chapters before I could go back to sleep. I just had to know if the helper was friend or foe. Then I had to find out what happened next, I only gave up when I feel asleep, and my kindle nearly gave me a black eye. But the next morning I found myself sneaking peeks at work, reading a couple of pages while on hold, then taking a very early lunch so I could read in peace. I had to know what would happen to Audrey and Xavier, would they survive? Would they be captured? Would they all make it out alive? The story telling and planning that went into this book was second to none, the research and history made it a much deeper book, it makes you see the town of Forks in a new light.

A group of elite Navy Seals is parachuting into a remote location for a training mission. Unknown to them there is a group of mercenaries waiting for them. The Seals have no real weapons and will be at a disadvantage against the highly trained mercenaries. Ranger Audrey has unknowing stepped into the middle of the operation when she is checking why cameras at a historical site have gone down. Navy seal Xavier Rivera finds her and immediately jumps to the conclusion she is there to stop the mission, until they find a dead body and her vehicle sabotaged. They are in a battle for their lives with no means to defend themselves. This book has action, adventure, betrayal and a romance all rolled into one. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

New series, with strong characters, an action packed to the end. The mission has been compromised and they are in the wilderness. They are battling the odds of coming out of this alive.
A good thrilling story once again by this author. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

4.5 stars

At first, I didn't realize that I'd read this author before. It wasn't until I looked up other books by her (specifically to see--out of curiosity--if secondary character Undine was a main character in another novel) that she authored the two-book Fiona Carver series. It made sense though because Audrey's story has a similar feel to Fiona's. That is, if SEAL stories are your jam and the lost-in-the-wild trope your kryptonite, you'll really like Into the Storm

Fortunately for me, I enjoy this type of story immensely. If the adventure and suspense is written well enough, like it is here, I don't mind the absence of physical intimacy; sexy times would be a little weird and totally unrealistic for people literally in danger of encountering armed mercenaries at any moment. Instead, the intimacy forged between two people whose very lives depend on trusting each other and working together is a thousand times more romantic than a night in bed (or in the shower or on the kitchen table) could ever be.

Archaeologist Audrey and SEAL trainer Xavier are both competent and compassionate people, though Xavier throwing Aud under the bus (which took place before the start of this book) to protect his training mission was pretty sucky. It helps that Xave realizes the shattiness of his behavior and admits to it early on.

Mercifully, Audrey is extremely strong and confident and not once strays into TSTL territory. I somewhat misrepresented the trope earlier by referring to it as a lost-in-the-wild novel. Thanks to Audrey, she and Xave are never once lost in the national park; she knows every nook and cranny, and her knowledge saves the day over and over again as they work to avoid the mercenaries and find a resolution to the clusterfluff they find themselves in. Xave respects and frequently defers to Aud's knowledge, and Aud recognizes when it's more appropriate to follow Xave's lead.

What would I change? I wish the one-night stand shared by Audrey and Xavier had been a prologue rather than something recalled in the characters' present-day thoughts and conversations. I suspect it might have been originally part of the book but cut for some reason because a note at the end says there will be a free prequel describing how they met available upon request. At this point, I don't really need to read it and probably won't bother tracking it down. I also felt the ending was a little uneven. Everything works out, but it felt a bit rushed or easily explained away, especially since the rest of the book was so meticulous in it's details.

All that aside, this book is totally worth the ride!

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review honestly and voluntarily. Thanks!

As always this author melds beautifully romance and action. I love military action but I also love the women to be just as strong and Grant has really done a wonderful job in this book with that. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After a one night stand, Audrey, an archeologist, finds out she is pregnant. The father, Xavier, is a former SEAL but after a mission went sideways, he is now a trainer. He puts in a request to have a training mission at the lodge. Audrey vetoes it but Xavier tells everyone she is just mad because he no longer wants to see her. No one is supposed to be at the lodge but Audrey’s goes when one of her cameras go down. When Xavier sees her he thinks she’s come to sabotage the mission. But then they run into Russians and it’s a race to find the SEAL team and let them know what’s going on. Can Xavier get Audrey’s forgiveness and be a part of his unborn child’s life? So very good. Fast paced Action. Suspense. A little sex. Lovers to enemies to lovers. You will not be disappointed with this story. The first in a new series. I’m sorry if this makes no sense but with a story like this it’s hard for me to write a review without giving anything away. * Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *

I received an advanced reader's copy of Into the Storm by Rachel Grant from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this novel!

The main characters, archaeologist Audrey Kendrick and Navy SEAL Xavier Rivera, were kind of awesome together. I liked their witty banter, sizzling chemistry, and their story arc. This was a solid romance novel and I found it to be well written. The plot was engaging and the pacing moved swiftly.

Definitely worth a read.

As a storm rolls in, a team of elite Navy SEALs arrives at a remote lodge for a wilderness training exercise that becomes terrifyingly real...

Xavier Rivera planned the exercise down to the smallest detail, but he didn't plan the arrival of archaeologist Audrey Kendrick—a woman he shared a passionate night with before betraying her in the worst way.

As the storm is unleashed on the historic lodge it becomes clear the training has been compromised. Trapped by weather, isolated by the remote wilderness, and silenced as communication with the world has been severed, unarmed SEALs face an unexpected and deadly foe.

Audrey and Xavier must set aside their distrust and desire and work together to save a team under fire and survive in a battle against the wild.

Really enjoyable read totally recommend
