And with the danger of wildfires, two suspects, a teenager scared to return home, and someone desperate to retrieve the remains. This really was an enjoyable and engaging read. That had plenty of twists and turns and that felt much longer than it actually was.

The suspense was killing me!! Honestly I don't read this genre but it was perfect. It was short but the detailing was amazing. I can't wait to explore more books of the author.

I loved how Tessa and Logan worked together and understand each other. The wedding was amazing. Also I feel sorry for Chandler.

This is the tenth novella in the Widow's Island series of novellas. Book 10, by Melinda Leigh is a good addition to the murder mystery series. It moves quickly and has plenty of side plot to keep it interesting.

The last of this ten part, two author, novella series. We follow Logan and Tessa. I love this series and you definitely want to read in order. A nice wrapup from this couple and to the series

A fast paced novella. A jam packed story with a twist at the end. Definitely one to read if you like detective novels

Widow’s Island Novella is all you hope it will be. The dynamic between Deputy Tessa Black and her fiancê park ranger Logan Wilde is really special. The previous books go into the depth of their relationship so go read them too. However, this book can be read stand-alone. They work together to solve the minimal but deadly crime that happens on Widow’s Island. They plan to marry very soon. with her mom's dementia, Tessa needs to have her able to be at the wedding. Tessa’s younger sister, Patience, Logan plus the strong family-orientated townswomen help take care of her mom. When someone gets caught trying to bury bones in a cemetery it brings up a lot of questions but the culprit evaded capture. Tessa and Logan learn the bones are from a missing girl and they must unravel the truth and catch the person responsible. This is a fast-paced story with characters you can certainly love. It keeps you wondering who did what but I bet you won't guess. A final twist wraps up a great book. Thank you, NetGalley, and publishers Montlake for this eARC I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Melinda Leigh never disappoints. This is my honest opinion, I enjoyed it I think you will too if this is your genre.

This series of novellas is always intriguing. The remote Widow’s Island is a perfect setting for these unsettling mysteries. In this installment Tessa is looking for a person who was try to bury a box of bones. As her investigation unfolds the story gets more tangled. I am always impressed with how Melinda Leigh’s stories take unexpected twists and turns. This was a satisfying conclusion to the series and I hope there will be a new series to follow!

The Wrong Bones is the tenth novella in Widow Island series written by Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. If you have been following the series, you are surely going to enjoy this instalment and the happy event at the end of it. It was great to see how the stories from the two authors (Melinda Leigh wrote books 2,3, 6,7, and 10, Kendra Elliot -1,4,5,8, and 9) merge seemlessly. Melinda Leigh's novella are written from the point of view of Deputy Tessa Black, while Kendra Elliot's ones focus on Tessa's best friend Cate, a former FBI agent, who also happens to be Tessa's fiance's sister.

Tessa Black has a complicated family life. Her mother has been diagnosed with an early onset dementia and Tessa is taking care of both her and Tessa's much younger half-sister Patience. While Tessa knows nothing is going to change the course of her mother's dementia, she tries to help Patience have as normal and stable life as possible in the circumstances. Luckily, Logan Wilde, Tessa's fiance and the only park ranger on the island, is her rock of strength, and the whole island community pulls together to take care of Tessa's mother.

Tessa responds to frantic calls of three kids who have spotted a stranger digging a grave at the island's cemetary. Although the chase Tessa gives the stranger isn't successful, the man drops a box he was trying to bury in the grave and the box is full of human bones. The remains belong to a teenage girl who was clearly murdered, but who is she and who is the monster behind the crime? Suspects abound and Tessa and Logan have to move fast to make sure the killer doesn't get away with the crime.

The pace was excellent and there was a lot of action packed into the story which culminated in a nail-biting finish that would have made Hollywood action movie writers proud. Fans of Melinda Leigh know she has a very engaging writing style that compels her readers to keep turning pages until the small hours.

Novella 10 in the series of 'Widow's Island' and a person in the cemetery burying bones from a missing girl. These are quick reads and a refreshing difference from a typical mystery. I truly enjoyed this book, it's always a treat to 'see' the characters. I love the killer hen lol.

It is full of suspense and left me begging for more. I never read the previous books in the series before but everything is easy to follow. I'm looking forward to reading the series soon!!

Brilliant short story from this fantastic author. Surprisingly I haven’t read the preveious short stories but the characters and development was easy to follow. Great story, great read looking forward to going back and reading the rest!!

This was another excellent addition to the Window's Island series. This novella has it all. It was creepy, fast paced, and kept you guessing until the end. When Tessa finds someone trying to bury box of bones in the cemetery at night , she is drawn into a mystery with many twists and a surprising ending. And of course we cannot forget about the wedding of Tessa and Logan.

I love these novellas, nearly as much as I love the author. A small tidbit from Widow’s Island that you can read in a couple of hours is a great way to spend some time.

Melinda Leigh and her sometime writing partner, Kendra Elliott, are good at taking you away from where you are and what you’re doing.

The Wrong Bones was a short trip to Widow’s Island to solve a murder mystery with Tessa and Logan. Also, to attend their wedding. I was glad to be there. Thank you #NetGalley for an enjoyable read.

A gripping, fast thriller featuring deputy Tessa Black, working closely with fiancée park ranger Logan Wilde, “The Wrong Bones” (Montlake) is again an exploration of the balance between a demanding job in law enforcement and an also challenging family life.
The novella, apparently the last in the series, shows how Tessa and Logan are reaching that hard and fleeting balance while dealing with a new case that put their lives in danger.
There’s sadness in the case because of the victim’s young age, and a sudden cruelty when the identity of the villain is revealed.
The main and secondary characters are likable and well developed and their interactions realistic, making the story enjoyable and engaging.
I liked seeing the web of family, friends and community rallying when needed. The easy, sweet relationship between Tessa and Logan is also interesting.
Tessa’s issues with her ageing, dementia-affected mother and Logan’s war trauma are also addressed, and I liked Melinda Leigh’s sensitivity about it.
I loved how the author tackles, even if briefly, matters like wildfires or domestic violence, sometimes showcasing the stupidity or lack of social conscience associated. It’s amazing that in such a short work, Leigh manages to raise awareness of such issues.

First off, I’m a huge Melinda Leigh fan but somehow had missed this series of novellas and didn’t realize this was number 10. Even though, I haven’t read the others, the story was easy to follow and I fell in love with the characters. I’m going to go back and read the first nine now.

It takes some kind of talent to write a novella that pulls you in, develops characters and tells a complete story. I had no idea this was a short novel before I started reading. Add that to the fact that this is book #10 in a series I’ve never read, and Melinda Leigh has my complete admiration. This was a fast paced, interesting book with likeable characters that I was able to finish in a few hours.

This is part of an ongoing series and should be read in order. Set in the San Juan Oslabds of Washington, deputy Tessa Black and her park ranger fiancé Logan are getting ready to be married. But first they need to solve a murder and help a victim of abuse. Before long, the cases intersect. I’m in love with this whole series and cannot recommend this book enough.

The Wrong Bones is a novella that is part of a series of books by Melinda Leigh. Although it is a part of a series it is easily read as a stand alone book without any difficulty. The main character Tessa Black is attempting to solve a crime/mystery and still live her life and deal with all the craziness that family can bring. to the picture. I have enjoyed all the books of Melinda Leigh's I have read so far and this one does not disappoint either. There are a few twists and turns along the way to keep you guessing who is the main suspect.
