Deputy Tessa Black and her fiancé Park Ranger Logan Wilde are together again in this mysterious novella. With just one week from her wedding, Tessa finds herself chasing a suspect through a dark cemetery where they were trying to bury a box of bones in a recent grave. The twists and turns are never ending as they unravel this case! Great addition to the Widow’s Island series.

I struggled with the format, it made it difficult to read because for me it ruined the flow of the writing to the point that I couldn't finish reading it. I felt like I was reading fanfiction

“The Wrong Bones” is Widow’s Island #10 —a series of novellas with five written by Melinda Leigh. This was actually the first book that I read in the series, but now I want to go back and read others!

In this installment, Tessa Black is the Deputy Sheriff on an isolated island that’s part of the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington state and her fiancé is Logan Wilde, the park ranger assigned to Widow’s Island and a default member of Tessa’s law enforcement team. One night, Tessa encounters someone digging up an already occupied fresh grave, trying to bury something. She gives chase; the perpetrator drops the box. Tessa, Logan and the local doctor discover these bones might be of a missing girl and the mystery ensues.

This is an action packed procedural that moves quickly. All of the characters are likeable and help you invest in the plot. with solid and likeable main characters and an original plot. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick and satisfying read!

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC!

What a thrilling ride! From start to finish The Wrong Bones rode a fast ride. This series is like catching up with friends and love reading them each year. The plot was riveting and caught me by surprise. Especially when you remember the character Chandler and how he figured into this box of bones. Outstanding! Thank you Melinda and NetGalley

Number ten, another great novella in the Widow Island series, which I'm assuming is the last in this series, because the two couples the books are centred around both achieve their HEAs. This story can be read as a standalone re the crime and investigation; but why wouldn't you want to read this series from the beginning, as it's very entertaining. I have read all the previous novellas. Side characters are explained briefly as the novella advances, but not in a way that would confuse a new reader.

There's a pinch of romance, because the H/h are engaged, but any sex scenes (etc), are behind closed doors, as this book focuses on the plot and the current murder/crime being investigated. It's well written with a few twists, some action and tense scenes and I read it in one sitting, because I needed to know what happened. My thanks go to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me the eARC in return for my honest opinion. Publication date is 25th October 2022. Loved it!

This is the book we've been waiting on where Tessa and Logan get married.

Tessa finds kids who have seen someone in the cemetery digging up a grave. She checks its out, turns out digging up a grave wasn't exactly what they were doing. Find out what's going on in the cemetery and if Tessa will make it to her wedding without bruises. No kidding.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A very quick read with familiar characters. I've loved everyone on this island and the growth and changes of the characters. This sounds like the last book in this series which is sad, but it's a great story and has been a great ride!

Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this. I was not aware this was number 10 of a novella but please do not let that stop you from reading it. It kept me on my toes, and I knew what happening without reading the others.

Tess and her fiancé Logan are investigating an odd crime as someone was trying to bury bones in a graveyard at night. Killer hen goes missing. The small community is always there to help whenever it is needed. There are twists and turns as they continue to investigate the crime. Suspects come out of the woodwork on this small island and thanks to the ferry not being reliable they may be able to catch their killer.

“The Wrong Bones” is Widow’s Island #10 —a series of novellas: 5 written by Melinda Leigh and 5 written by Kendra Elliot (who are not the same author, just partners in the Widow’s Island series). This book belongs to the prolific and extremely popular Melinda Leigh.

In this installment, Tessa Black is the Deputy Sheriff on this somewhat isolated island that’s part of the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington state (one apparently not-so-reliable ferry services the residents) and her fiancé is Logan Wilde, the park ranger assigned to Widow’s Island and a default member of Tessa’s law enforcement team. One night, alerted by a bunch of trespassing kids having flashlight tag fun, Tessa encounters someone digging up an already occupied fresh grave, where the dirt is looser, and trying to bury something. She gives chase; the perpetrator drops the box. Even with the limited island resources, Tessa, Logan and the local doctor discover these might be the bones of a missing girl. But who tried to bury them and why not just toss them into the strait?

This is an action packed procedural with solid and likeable main characters and an original plot. I had not read any of the previous Widow’s Island books (they’re on my TBR now!), but this novella worked well as a standalone. A great book for the days when you want to finish something fairly quickly and be satisfyingly entertained! 4 stars! I suppose it’s Kendra’s turn next!

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the copy of The Wrong Bones. I had no idea this was book 10 of a novella series! Usually I avoid novellas because I prefer to read longer books, where the story and the characters get really developed. This book might change my mind! The characters and story were fully fleshed out and I loved how strong Tessa was and how she and Logan worked together. The story was intriguing and had a surprising conclusion. Pick up this series if you want some quick, amazing reads.

A box of bones. Why was someone trying to bury them. Who did they belong to. As Deputy Tessa Black and her fiancé, park ranger Logan Wilde start investigating and following the clues which leads to a twist of an ending.

If this is the last book of the series it wraps things up well. Hopefully Kendra and Melinda can continue to write these novella series.

Romantic suspense at its best. There are twists and turns galore. Tessa has a very odd crime on her hands. The more her and Logan investigate the stranger he becomes. The ending is absolutely wonderful. The writing is perfect as always. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Melinda Leigh does it again. The story kept me turning the pages with anticipation to the very end. Sherrif Bree Taggert is a character with heart and I feel like I know her. She has become more real with each book. I suggest reading the series from the beginning but they can stand alone. The murder in this book kept my guessing to the end. I can't wait for the next one in the Bree Taggert saga.

I just finished reading The Wrong Bones by Melinda Leigh. The book/novella is the 10th in the series. Don’t let that stop you from reading it. As this is the first one that I have read and knew what was happening.

The book really keeps you on edge as you read about bones that show up on the island and how they get there and the final twist I did not see coming.

I recommend reading when it comes out in October

Another wonderful addition to the Novella series. I enjoyed the mystery and was left guessing until the end. While this could be read as a stand alone it would be a richer reading experience to be read in order. The relationship between Tessa and Logan is wonderful and to see the cast of background characters was great. The only negative thing about the book was that it is novella length and I would have loved it to have been a full length novel. I usually find novella length books to be unsatisfying but the pacing and plot were very enjoyable in this shorter form. This being the end of the series it had a lovely bookend feeling but I wouldn’t be at all upset if Ms Leigh and Ms Elliot decided to write more. I highly recommend this book to all mystery lovers. Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A box of bones lead Tessa and Logan on a crazy chase to find a killer. With suspects comings out of the woodwork on there tiny island.

“Well, look at that. You have a warrant outstanding, Mr. Dwyer.” “This is my shocked face,” Kurt deadpanned from across the room.

Lots going on in this story. Killer Hen is missing.

A short quick read that has a shocking ending. With a beautiful wedding to remember.

A frantic chase to catch a grave robber reveals a startling discovery in this tenth installment of the Widow’s Island novella series by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh.
Deputy Tessa Black spots a man disturbing a grave in the local cemetery and gives chase. But when Tessa catches him, she learns that the ghoulish trespasser wasn’t robbing graves; he was burying a box of bones.
With the help of her fiancé, park ranger Logan Wilde, Tessa discovers that the remains belong to a missing teenager from a nearby island. After the girl disappeared nine months ago, police labeled her a runaway. Now, though, it’s clear the teenager was murdered.
When the only witness is an uncooperative teenager, Tessa and Logan must find the killer before the boy becomes the next target.
Really enjoyable read totally recommend
