Firstly, I would like to thank NetGalley & Canelo Escape for the opportunity to receive a complimentary copy of [book: The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop|61782617]. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. I also apologize for reading and writing the book review after publication.
I wanted to read a holiday book as we headed into the holiday season. I picked it up while browsing my long TBR because [book: The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop|61782617] fits some reading challenges.
[book: The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop|61782617] is a tale of a small-town charm and festive atmosphere, with a dash of romance and British humor. I appreciated the feel-good, uplifting spirit of Seren's journey as she brought joy and festive cheer to the residents of Tinstone. On the other hand, I had some trouble with Daniel's grumpiness and his feelings that the world was against him. The only ray of sunshine that manages to get in his life is Serene. Or the star of his eyes, as the meaning of Serene's name in Welsh is a star.
I get tired of the miscommunication trope for the third-act breakup; there are other ways to do it. This is also why I love Aunt Nelly, Serene's aunt, and Daniel's grandpa, Edwin. I like the wisdom they give to the young couple in life. I like how the author, [author: Lilac Mills|16766459], brings three generations together with a happy message about the holiday season.
[book: The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop|61782617] is a sweet, cozy Christmas romance fitting for this Holiday season.

My ideal feel-good story is one I can connect with and enjoy getting to know the characters and their emotional journey. Lilac Mills has perfectly captured the love story between Seren Fletcher and Daniel managing to wrap it up in a magical Christmas story. Well written and paced just right, a real page-turner that put a smile on my face and a warm Christmas glow in my heart.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Seren and Daniel. Seren works in a grocery store and Daniel is an independent gardener. There is an instant attraction when the y meet. Seren doesn’t like working at the grocery store, so her father buys an ice cream truck to turn into a mobile shopping van. She gets it set up and goes to Christmas markets. They start dating. They each have issue but together they work them out and fall in love.

The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop - Lilac Mills

A very warm hearted read, with plenty of festive cheer and romance. Lovely characters and settings, I very much enjoyed the Christmas fayres and Santa's grottos. I sped through this book as it kept me nicely gripped. Overall it is a very good hallmark style book, that is perfect to read at this time of year. Thank you very much Netgalley and Canelo for the e-arc in return for my thoughts, I can only apologise for the delay.

The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop by Lilac Mills another NetGalley and the last book and book review of 2022. Seren visits her great aunt who lives in a care home, her great aunt Nelly is cantankerous but has the kindest heart especially towards Seren. Nelly can’t get out to the shops and buy Xmas gifts for family and doesn’t like shopping via the internet, so she comes up with the idea of a travelling shop and this is where this story begins. SadlyI didn’t enjoy this book and out of the Christmas books I’ve already read this is the worst. Its predictable from the beginning, its slow and is just missing some strength behind the story. The cosy travelling shop kind of felt like it slipped into the background a lot, while there romantic side of the book took over. It felt like the cosy travelling shop took a step into the background as there maybe more to follow from these books and Serens story and although the romantic side of the story was ok, it was just that ok and I wanted the shop to take more of a frontline. The travelling shop and the reason it began was a great idea and I really think there could have been more written about it, in my opinion it would have given the story more layers especially going forward if there was to be a series of books. I think i would have also have liked to seen more of Aunt Nell’s character, the parts that she was in she came across as interesting, feisty and quite formidable but sadly her appearances were few and far between. The other thing that kind of put me off, if that’s the best way to describe it is that this travelling gift shop idea has kind of been done before with Flora’s Travelling Christmas Shop by Rebecca Raisin and I think the travelling gift shops concept is done better in Rebecca books. I hate putting it perhaps so bluntly and comparing the two books because as I always say the author has worked hard to write a successful book but in this instance the idea between the two books is very similar and one just does it better. Although I wasn’t a fan the book has good reviews and at the moment is 99p on Amazon. I don’t recommend this book and sadly give it ⭐️⭐️

Looking for a sweet Christmas romance to close out the Christmas season? Look no further.

Another little quaint shop story, except this one is on wheels! An ice cream truck is turned into a mobile gift store and had me thinking throughout the whole book what a great idea this is and why don't we have things like this in the US?

The side characters were fun, the story was short and the romance was clean. A great read for moms and teenage daughters to read together if you are looking for a little Hallmark style love story. In fact, this would be a great story for Hallmark to pick up!

Seren's great nan hates being stuck in her care home, especially around Christmas when there's lot of shopping to be done, and after finding out the residents can't go out to enjoy buying gifts, she comes up with an idea, a travelling gift shop.
And after bumping into fellow residents grandson, she begins to wonder if the travelling shop is proving to be too much or if it's providing much needed festive cheer to the residents

I loved every minute of this festive read, with all the sweetness off having a grandparent who needs some extra help with getting in the festive cheer and the aspect of romance with Christmas cheer getting involved.

This is a great festive read for anyone who loves Christmas and wants to spread some Christmas cheer.

Oh, do I know someone who could use this shop right about now. Wonderful story line with likeable character, you couldn't help routing for Seren to succeed and Nelly's quite the trip. I would love to read more of the traveling shop's adventures in the future.

The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop by Lilac Mills

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Canelo and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

Seren’s great aunt Nelly hates being in a care home, especially around Christmas when Seren learns that Nelly and the other residents can’t enjoy the simple pleasure of browsing for gifts in the shops. So what if Seren brings the shops to them?

Converting an ice cream van into a gift shop, Seren travels around Tinstone to help out the less mobile. On her journeys, she keeps bumping into a reluctant – and handsome – Father Christmas, who has been roped into helping out this festive season.

But running her own business comes with risks and surprises that Seren's not sure she's able to tackle. Has she bitten off more than she can chew, or will her travelling Christmas shop provide some much-needed festive cheer for the residents of Tinstone?

My Opinion

This is such a lovely book with a really festive feeling. I'd recommend reading this with a nice festive drink and maybe a nice cosy fire. This will definitely put you in a festive mood. A lovely plot idea with some great characters.
