Each story unique, each story heart-felt, each story emotionally compelling, parts devastating, part humorous, i loved this collection of stories and really enjoyed dipping into one or two each day. A really important contributor to LGBTQ literature - beautiful!

Ms. Lynch enthralls us with short stories of lesbian relationships and life. Complex and thought provoking. It should be included in all LGBTQ and sexuality course read lists.

Lee Lynch is an icon in lesbian fiction and this collection of short stories covers over 25 years of her writing. I enjoyed the stories mainly because they felt "real". They contain older women, black women, women afraid of being found out, women who bravely stride out.

Ms Lynch is an accomplished writer and beautifully captures the longing, the emotional highs and lows, the fears of love and relationships. I’m glad the stories have been made available in a single edition. I will definitely read these again.

Defiant Hearts is a collection of short stories surrounding the lives of different lesbian women of the 20th century, narrating their experiences of love, queer friendships and obstacles, the fight for queer rights, and the diversity of the lesbian community.
I really enjoyed this book and how different the characters were. I specially loved the stories narrated by old characters, that gave the reader a perspective on the advancement of queer rights movements and the cultural differences.
I loved how flawed some characters were, meaning this book wasn't a collection of romance stories, but of friendship, of hardship, of cheating and struggling, of discovery.
I'd definitely recommend this book.

Lee Lynch is a bit of a legend once one steps into the depths of lesbian canon. I've never read anything by her before these short stories and I have to say, her status is well deserved. There's something for everyone and while these stories pack a punch most of the time, there are beautiful pockets of happiness in between the hard stuff.

If you are fan of Lee Lynch, then this collection of short stories is just right for you. There's something for everyone which will give you hours of great reading.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved how each little story was captivating and unique. I would love to see a few of the short stories expanded into longer stories but great nonetheless. So many interesting stories here I think many people will like. I highly recommend.

I love the stories they’re brutal, tender, loving, funny and interesting. I especially love the first story with Merle Patty Kylie and Fran but all are so good! I think my favorites were either the elderly couple who met in the old folks home or the one with Lillian Lee the fire fighter but I like the one… I love all of them! This book is about women who love women but not in the way you think there’s nothing tawdry about two people connecting and only feeling hole when the other one is around. I loved the stories. as the mother of a queer daughter I can only hope that she finds the kind of love that they had in these stories pure honest and forever. Well not all of them but most of them lol!
