I love Ghost books anyway, but this was an informative and interesting read. Loved the illustrations, really dun read.
What an incredible little book! I was so excited to read this as I adore all things spooky. It traces all things ghostly, from historic ghosts, haunted buildings and fictional spooks.
This is a really interesting little history, full of facts and quips - I definitely feel that I have learnt a lot just from spending a couple of hours flicking through the pages.
The illustrations are wonderful - I especially enjoyed some of the little hidden messages. They really added to this book and it made it so much nicer to learn more about culture and history.
If you like ghosts, then you should definitely read this book. Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy.
A cute and informative read on ghosts! I was pleasantly surprised by how much information was in here and the illustrations really made it fun to read. It was only a basic over view so good for a coffee table or someone that would like to learn something new but not for seasoned ghost lovers.
I love books about ghosts and unexplained things so I am really happy to get a copy of this through netgalley.
However this wasn't what I was expecting at all so sadly didn't think it was one for me.
The descriptions in the book are rather brief and I feel like they could have been more detailed in places.
A jumped at the chance when I saw this on NetGalley but it wasn’t what I expected.
The book was mostly set out with brief explanations or lists, it needed to be a lot more in depth!
It did touch upon a lot of different subjects such as haunted locations, ghost legends and the media etc… but again it was too brief.
The book in general needed to either be a lot longer or to narrow down its contents and focus on giving details as it felt like something you could just read off a website.
A lovely book. My only criticism is with some of the lists, I feel like the items need more explanation than just a name. I'd like to know the stories of things featured in these lists.
Also how can you omit the Winchester brothers in the media section of ghost hunters? A dagger to my heart!
I think this will make a great gift book over the Halloween and Christmas period. Really beautiful illustrations and lots of interesting information!
Charming beyond belief - I used to love books like this when I was growimg up (Usbourne, DK etc.). The illustrations are so cute, and clear, and the information is very well researched. I love this, and I want some of the author's artwork! Gorge!
I'm not too sure what I was expecting here, but certainly not what I got.
This is nicely formatted and illustrated, and it's a nice light read-it-in-one-sitting sort of book. Having said that, I wanted more. This is very 'light touch' and I had expected more depth. I didn't learn much I didn't already know, it's just rehashing some basics in a pretty format. Overall sadly, not for me.
My thanks to NetGalley and Nobrow for a copy of “An Illustrated History Of Ghosts” for an honest review.
Unfortunately this wasn’t the sort of book I had expected it to be.It was a very short , light book ,containing lots of basic lists and explanations about ghosts , that could be found from an internet search.
Other reviews seem mostly positive , but I must admit I’d have felt cheated if I’d had to pay for this book.
Any lover of all things spooky of any age would probably find this to be a lovely present.Thorough and gorgeously illustrated, this is a delight of a book
Thank you for the advanced copy of this.
Fantastic book about all things to do with Ghosts.
What a light hearted and entertaining read, well written, well put together, quirky and finished in one sitting as could not put it down.
The illustrations are beautiful.
Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed reading this quick and entertaining guide to ghosts and the paranormal phenomena. It touches many different topics, such as the different types of ghosts within different cultures and their influence on films and literature. It is not really a book for somebody who has a deep knowledge on the topic already, more of a general overview, but it is still, in my opinion, worth picking up, especially for Halloween time. I liked the illustrations of this book too, I think they went well with the overall presentation of the book.
This is an informative yet really fun at the same time! And the illustrations are super cute and quirky!
