Thieves by Lucie Bryon first caught my eye with its art. Bryon's style is both cute and original with some quirky touches in some scenes (my favourite being one where Ella is imagining herself underwater.) The story itself of starts out fairly simple with Ella finding herself hungover and surrounded by her crush's things, but develops real depth over the course of the story. Madeleine in particular goes from being the illusive "dream girl" to a fully drawn character with flaws and you get a much better sense of her. Unfortunately I think this is less true for Ella, but the story still works with less of a focus for her particularly in context. Also my favourite was Ella's friend Leslie who is the rock that underpins a lot of the couple's shenanigans. A very cute and insightful graphic novel and one I'm happy to recommend.

Gorgeous graphic novel.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this book in exchange for my review.

Where to start?! This was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! A super cute sapphic romance that I completely fell head over heels for. The art was beyond gorgeous and I loved the colour palette and art style. This just made me FEEL! I feel so warm and cosy after reading it. I also really appreciate that the characters aren’t ‘perfect’ and that gives them more relatability. Overall this book was such a joy to read.

If you were a fan of Alice Oseman's Heartstopper this book is definitely worth a read!
I loved the concept for this book, a highschool WLW graphic novel with two imperfect kleptomaniac protagonists trying to fix their past mistakes. The illustrations were amazing, the use of limiting the colour palette really effective in terms of conveying emotions and plot points. I loved the french setting as it felt new and exciting as usually high school fiction is primarily based in the UK or US. My only negative about this book was the ending felt rushed, I'd have liked to have seen more romantic development in the aftermath of the books events.

Firstly, I absolutely loved the art style of this, you can see the time and effort that’s gone into every image and they’re very easy to follow. The story itself is a sapphic high school romance that also delves into wider darker themes such as bullying, anxiety, kleptomania and also making things right again after doing wrong. It’s a very heartwarming and easy read that would be great on a cosy autumn afternoon and I can’t wait to see what Lucie creates next!

I really enjoyed this; it was so cute and unique with the premise quite like a reverse heist which was fun to read. The art was simple yet emotive with beautiful use of colour. The characters were complex and loveable; a difficult feat in a standalone graphic novel so kudos to Bryon for managing that.
4.5
Thank you NetGalley and Nobrow Ltd. for the e-ARC

I actually really adored this graphic novel!
A sapphic romance about two kleptomainiacs who make mistakes and together decides to rectify their mistakes.
I loved the art style in this book and the romance and friendships were so cute!
It was a quick and easy queer read for lovers of Heartstopper and Kim Reaper!

This light-hearted read about queer kleptomaniacs was exactly as fun to read as it sounds! Beautiful illustration style as well.
I did have an issue with the pacing - not of the plot, but of the relationships. It felt like the romantic leads went from never speaking to girlfriends instantly, and any conflicts that arose lasted one page max (which is nothing in a graphic novel).
Despite this, I really would recommend!! You know the saying - I support women's rights but, more importantly, I support women's wrongs.
Thanks to Net Galley, Nobrow and Lucie Bryon for the free arc in exchange for an honest review. Release date is 6th October - check it out!

I loved this! What a treat, realistic teens going off to parties, making mistakes and hoping not to mess things up too much. Great story for our seniors.

Gorgeous little graphic novel ARC titled #Thieves from #netgalley by #luciebyron. 5/5 absolutely loved it
A cute little LGBTQIA+ graphic novel about 2 girls crushing on each other across a classroom until they meet at a party.
The graphic design is gorgeously simple yet emotive, and is a lovely little quick feel good read.

I’m not sure what I expected from Thieves but let's just say what I got was quite a surprise. The synopsis does fit the story but it makes out that Ella wasn’t aware that she was stealing when in the graphic novel it seemed like she knew exactly what she was doing. Content-wise the synopsis makes Thieves sound far more exciting than it is, which seems quite savage to say but to me, it reads like an espionage-style story. Which Thieves definitely was not.
I loved the premise of this storyline, especially with it being a sapphic couple and this type of media never gets another attention. The idea of a teenage couple righting the wrongs of their previous kleptomaniac tendencies is both interesting and hilarious. I never thought I’d ever read a book with this premise, but here we are.
Unfortunately for me, the pacing was very off. It went from Ella and Madeleine having spoken once at a party to them kissing the next morning after exchanging about two words. I get that teenage relationships can be fast-paced and fleeting but it seemed too sudden for me. The story would have worked the same if they knew each other before the party. Madeleine is clearly a very private person so her secrets wouldn’t have been revealed either way. I’m definitely nitpicking there, but it confused me when they claimed to be girlfriends after speaking once.
The actual storyline was really fun and the complexity of the characters that was conveyed in a short format story was quite impressive. Although they have all had their struggles Thieves is genuinely an uplifting story.
Now it seems like I didn’t enjoy Thieves very much, which isn’t entirely true. I adore the art style and monochromatic colouring. I’ve never seen a graphic novel utilise monochrome in such an amazing way. Honestly, I am completely blown away.
The character designs were super cute and I really loved the clothing. Visually Thieves is very beautiful and Lucie Bryon is an incredible artist.

This was the charming and romantic story of Ella and Madeleine who through a series of events find themselves to be thieves.
I loved the illustrations they were vividly expressive and the muted colour palette really suited the story.
Ella and Madeleine were both characters who had their flaws but it was hard not to root for them.
I loved the way they resolved to return their stolen items rather than simply throw them away and watching their relationship grow as the did so was genuinely heartwarming.
Many thanks to the publisher for providing me with a digital ARC through Netgalley for an honest review.

This was a wholesome read with a sweet art style.
The colour palette was soft hues and an inky line style - it was super cute!
The concept of high school sapphics who fall for each other and ‘accidentally’ steal … not what I expected but lovely!
Thank you to the Publisher for the opportunity to read this!

this was honestly so cute. i loved the art style and the range of colours that were associated with the different main characters. the art style was beautiful, funny and emotional.
sapphics who steal is something i didn't know i needed. both ella and madeline are flawed characters but it just made them all the more loveable. and they had such clear, individual personalities. i also really liked the side characters, especially leslie who is the bestest best friend.
amazing representation, wholesome and packs such a great story in so little time! really enjoyed this. did i mention it was cute?

Wholesome sapphic theft!
First of all I need to talk about the art. It is gorgeous and expressive, highly complimented by the limited colour palette and use of texture. And the use of water as a visual metaphor for emotion used throughout completely pulled me into the characters feelings. Completely in awe of Bryon's talent.
All of the characters are super funny and endearingly flawed, with Ella and Madeleine's flaws and strengths complimenting and butting heads with each other enough to understand why the conflicts occur but rooting for them the entire book.

Thieves is an LGBTQ+ graphic novel story about crushes, parties and…thievery!
This was the first graphic novel i’ve read in what feels like forever and I’m so glad I did because this was such an entertaining and heartwarming read. Lucie Byron really encapsulates a queer love story and also the difficulties one may face as a consequence of homophobia. The characters are loveable and relatable and have amazing development throughout. As well as this, the artwork was so gorgeous and I found myself spending ages on each page looking at the minute details!
My only criticism for this read was I wish there was more of it as by the end of this graphic novel it is impossible not to have fallen in love with Ella and Madeleine!

Long story Short, This Graphic Novel Really is The Bees knees.
Thanks to Net Gallery for this Book.

I loved this book! I know a lot of people will compare it to 'Heartstopper' because it is a queer high-school graphic novel (and is quite light-hearted). However, I'd say the more apt comparison would be the film 'Booksmart' - or to just let it stand as its own book. For example, there is much more smoking and drinking and the protagonists are old enough to almost tip over into 'new adult' territory. The art style is more sophisticated, with some excellent visual metaphors and striking panel contrasts. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an uplifting queer read, and to YA fans looking for good sapphic content.

Firstly a big thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this book before it’s released at the beginning of October.
Thieves is a YA LGBTQ+ graphic novel about two teen kleptomaniacs who fall in love.
I was initially attracted to this book by the absolutely gorgeous cover art; I love the colour palette and the characters made me just want to step into the world of the book.
I immediately fell in love with the characters who were supportive, funny and relatable.
I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to dip their toe into graphic novels and can’t wait to read more of Lucie Bryon’s work.

So cute! It was a joy to read. Thank you to the publisher,, for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
