A gentle slow burn of a story with believable characters that a reader gets to know over the length of the book. Enjoyable read.
A lovely Christmas romance. The descriptions of Lachlan and it’s surrounding areas are beautiful and I really felt I was there. The log cabin and house descriptions were beautiful too.
I sympathised with Bella and the situation she was put in and then the seemingly never ending weight on her shoulders to fix things and continue her pops legacy. I liked how Maverick didn’t jump in and instantly solve all her problems (even though he was the cause if most of them initially!) he listened to her, supported her and worked with her family to help create a solution, which was perfect. I enjoyed their growling friendship and subsequent relationship. Bella is truly a lucky girl.
This was the perfect Christmas rom-com!
I loved Bella and Maverick as main characters - Bella was strong and independent and Maverick, although at first was portrayed not to be liked, was found to be incredibly caring and thoughtful.
This was a perfect wholesome book which I couldn’t put down.
Christmas + Scotland + flowers = it’s a match made in festive heaven.
The extended cast of characters in this book is plentiful and it helps give the story its sense of community. There’s children, parents, grandparents, and you can see the magic of the place through the generations.
I loved the description of the high street, especially near the end of the book when all the Christmas lights get switched on and whatnot, it’s really beautiful.
It starts in September so, apart from the odd mention, it does take a while to feel really festive, but there’s enough build up to get you looking forward to the latter chapters.
I liked the main characters of Bella and her aunt Jane. They’re strong women and they really hold the story up. Then you get the supporting cast. The handsome stranger, the caring colleague - it’s full of loving people, friends, relatives, as well as hard, selfish, serious types, but they all work together to add a sense of realism throughout.
One main plot theme involves a lot of tenancy legalities which I have no understanding of, but it doesn’t overwhelm. It is enough to move the story along and is the right side of mind boggling thankfully.
Everything is about community with this story and it’s lovely to see that. With more and more people moving to big cities for employment opportunities, it’s lovely to read about a smaller area where everyone knows everyone, it just makes the festivities that much richer.
These type of happily-ever-after books are always quite predictable, you know everything will work out in the end and that’s what I wanted from it. It’s the journey to get to happily-ever-after that I’m interested in and it was a very warm and cosy journey. I’d highly recommend it for any time of the year but particularly on a snowy winter night and I’ll definitely be looking out for more of her work.
There’s sadness and loneliness, stress and anger, but there’s also hope and happiness, love and joy. A real festive winner.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
Bella’s aunt leaves the flower shop to her, and this should be a great opportunity for her to continue what her aunt did.
But, what her aunt didn’t realise was that there would be changes in the lease when it changed names. So, Bella is finding it hard to carry on the business where it is based at present, a place that all love.
Overseeing to make changes to the property and look after it is Maverick. The shop has the support of the community and also the charity it supports. Maverick has moved to the country and is get acquainted with his extended family.
A story of family, friendships and romance.
I recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book, I loved the setting, the characters were great and it is full, of love, joy, happiness and Christmas spirit.
Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. Idyllic location that set the tone of the book to perfection. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season. Love this author and once again she pulled a hit out the bag
When Bella's aunt leaves her floristry business to her, it should be a great opportunity. Unfortunately, her aunt didn't account for the change in lease conditions when she signed over the business. Now Bella is struggling to keep her business operating in the location everyone loves. Maverick is assigned to update the property to current codes and manage it. There's plenty of community support for the florist and the charity it supports. Maverick is coming into his own in a new country and getting to know his extended family. It is a lovely story of friendship, family and romance.
Bella and Maverick are a fun couple. This is a story of a women trying to keep her family legacy alive. Maverick is new to town and trying to reconnect with his roots and grandparents. This puts them somewhat at odds, but only briefly. Reads very well.
A very enjoyable Christmas story. As well as the main characters there were others that had their own tale and they fitted in very well. I can highly recommend this and is worth 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
Wow. A great story. One of those books you thought about when you were not reading it. Bella took over her Aunts flower shop and her Christmas charity and lots of problems rose and family secrets came out. She had a lot to deal with. A cheating boyfriend and a best friend struggling . It was a great read and good ending but not what you expected . Loved it.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
This was a very sweet Christmas romance story. I loved the side characters- reading Holly, Nick and Katie’s story was just as heartwarming and lovely as Bella and Maverick’s.
If you’re looking for a cosy, fun, cute, easy read, this one’s for you!
Another winning book from Lucy Coleman, a magical Christmas story that I couldn’t stop reading. The ending was beautiful but I wanted the book to go on and on.
I loved the Christmas sleigh ride with the shrieks and happy laughter of the children. The description of the lochs was amazing and I would love to have had a Christmas holiday in one of the log cabins. In my opinion a book worth more than five stars.and one to recommend to family and friends
A wonderful Christmas story that will keep your interest!
Who doesn't like romance, a bit of turmoil and a happy ending at this beautiful time of the year?
Bella Reed needs help. She has taken on her Aunt Jane's flower shop and now there is some trouble.
Will she be able to move forward or will she have to let this cute, whimsical, shop go?
A mug of hot chocolate and a comfy chair with this book will bring you some holiday cheer!
Thank you to #NetGalley and #EmblaBooks for this ARC and allowing me to provide my own review!
It is time for Christmas!
Set in Scotland, this story follows Bella as she tries to save her flower shop. Finding out that her lease will not be renewed and breaking up with her boyfriend happen back-to-back. But Bella is surrounded by friends and family for support.
Then she meets Maverick, who works for the company that owns her building. It’s nice to see their relationship slowly build, even with all the business stuff still looming. It’s a nice, sweet read.
I think my only real negative is about the formatting of the ebook, but I’m hoping that’s just because it’s an ARC and it will be fixed in the final version.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Christmas at the Highland Flower Shop to come out September 20, 2022.
