Something about Mazey's writing style always has me sucked in, and this was no different. It was chaos in all the best ways.
I will read anything this author writes, I love her work. I really resonated with the main character as I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD.
Lizzie really reminded me of myself, which made the book more enjoyable.
I fell so hard for Rake and loved the whole concept of the story.
I loved them as a couple in all their imperfect glory!
I don’t find it often in romantic comedies, but I love the trope boy-meets-girl, they have a one-night stand (with the intention of never seeing each other again), and suddenly they are expecting a baby and falling for each other. It’s entertaining and fun. Add the opposite-attract trope and you have an immersive, witty, and spicy novel that I enjoyed very much.
The two protagonists of this novel, Lizzie and Rake, are indeed different. She is chaotic, disorganized, and loud. He is quiet, neat, and tidy. They meet one night at a bar and they are instantly attracted to each other. After a weekend spent together, Lizzie goes back to her life and Rake goes home to Sidney, expecting never to meet again, until the lines on multiple pregnancy tests turn pink and Rake uproots his life to move to Philadelphia and be close to Lizzie and their future baby. Things will be far from easy as they adjust to living together, family and work drama, and, most importantly, trying to follow their rule of having a platonic, absolutely-no-sex, relationship.
What I love most about Mazey Eddings’s novels is her cast of fantastic characters that feel authentic and relatable. While Harper, from her debut novel A Brush with Love, remains my favorite of her characters, I loved Lizzie. Dealing with her ADHD, she feels too much, she says too much, and she uses baking (and sex) to filter her energy. She runs away from attachment and relationships (except for her three best friends), she changes jobs continuously, and she’s been told she is a disaster from a young age. And then she meets Rake, stable and workaholic, who didn’t expect to have his life completely changed by a woman he barely knows. Despite their differences, Rake and Lizzie are adorable as they get to know each other and pretend that they are not attracted to each other.
If you are looking for a fun, romantic, and well-written novel with fantastic characters and lots of spice then Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is the one for you!
This was my first Mazey Eddings book and i really enjoyed it. Lots of laughs along with some serious parts too that really hit me in the feels. It started off strong and hot and kept up the momentum as the story went on. I adored Lizzie she would be an amazing friend and Rake was sooo swoony worthy. I cant wait to read more by this author
Lizzie’s ADHD has caused her to make plenty of mistakes in her time, so she has learned to keep men at a distance and not let anyone get too close. Rake was burned horribly by his last relationship and is reluctant to get into anything serious ever again. When Lizzie and Rake meet in a Philadelphia bar one night, things get steamy and although there’s a great connection, they both know that it can only be a one time thing. So when Lizzie calls Rake with some big unexpected news, they both realise that their lives will never be the same again. This cute rom-com manages to be light-hearted while tackling some very serious issues and tricky family dynamics. I really enjoyed the ADHD representation because it showed how it affects Lizzie’s daily life and the struggles that many people with the condition suffer from. After the bombshell is dropped, it is quite a predictable story but this made it a lovely easy read. It’s ultimately about accepting who you are and focusing on the people who love the real version of you. Sweet, sexy and funny, Lizzie Blake is a character I won’t forget easily.

I know how many people absolutely adore this book and I felt that this was going to be the case for me too.
I really enjoyed how it started and could immediately empathise with our main character.
There were also some seriously steamy scenes early on, which is always a nice surprise.
However and this is partly my own fault, I didn't realise the turn that this book was going to take.
The 'unexpected pregnancy' trope is one of my least favourite and immediately puts me off even the best books.
So sadly, I had to DNF this, which pained me as I was enjoying the writing and characterisation that I'd seen up to then.
Had I known that this was the main theme of the romance, I would not have actively sought it out, which is a shame.
But I will certainly be keeping an eye out for other books from Mazey Eddings.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adored this book! Lizzie is a chaotic fun force of nature, and the way she completely upends Rake's life was absolutely delightful! A romance novel is all about the journey, and this was an inspired one!
The way Lizzie and Rake dealt with the biggest and best surprise was messy, fun, quite sexy, and heartwarming. Mazey Eddings has definitely earned her place on my auto-buys in the future.
This is a MUST READ! Fantastic, excellent… Incredible… I could not put this one down for the life of me… Loved, loved, loved this book… Wow, what a rollercoaster ride of an ending that was…
Let's meet Lizzie the star and leading character of the book. Lizzie has been a little bit unlucky in life and is a little bit clumsy and a little bit gullable too. Falling for pyramid schemes, scams, accidently started a kitchen fire, gets herself locked out of her house, anything embarrassing Lizzie has done it. Lizzie might be unlucky in most aspects of life and sure has gone through life making plenty of mistakes. But Lizzie's heart is another matter. Lizzie is a little bit of a commitment phobe and never gives her heart away to anyone. Preferring to have one night stands instead. However when her last mistake with her uncontrolled ADHD leads to her loosing yet another job. Lizzie decides that it might just be time to start getting a little bit more control of her life and even decides to break her own rules and have a two night stand.
However Rake who Lizzie decides could be worth the two night stand. Has also decided to give up on relationships, he has no time for love and for feelings, and he is moving to Australia soon so doesn't want any ties holding him back. But then the two night stand leads to Lizzie becoming pregnant and Rake realises that he needs to make sure that he is in his unborn Childs life.
Soon both of them find themselves in a sticky situation that neither of them bargained for are they able to let down their guards and let love in. Well you will have to read the book and find out.
This is a good read, the two main characters are good and you want them to be able toet go of their pasts and let love in.
It took a little while for me to settle in to the characters and plot but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed this romcom with such added depth.
Firstly, if you like sizzling hot sex scenes this certainly delivers, equally if you really aren't a fan, be aware it's packed with them.
Secondly, the female neurodivergent character, written by a neurodivergent author, was so accurate and authentic as you'd expect it to be, I felt it delivered such a powerful punch of reality about how traumatic it can be to be misjudged and misunderstood when you have ADHD.
Such a good read
“Lizzie had wanted her brain to be desired. For someone to see her as she was and think she was enough.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I haven’t read many books with the pregnancy trope, I can only think of two off the top of my head, and I know that it gets hated on a lot by booktok so wasn’t sure what to expect, but OH MY GOD. I ADORED this book.
Lizzie Blake feels like a disappointment, the “family clown” is what she calls herself. She has trouble keeping a job and knows that her ADHD makes her far from perfect in her mothers eyes. After having a two night stand with Rake; a tall, blonde, Australian who she will never see again, Lizzie falls pregnant. Will they be able to coparent and make it work, or will this all be one big mistake?
Lizzie and Rake had such incredible chemistry, the banter between them both made me laugh out loud so often, and the way that Rake helped Lizzie with her ADHD made my heart so happy. 🥹
Read this if you love:

💙 Spice
💙 Strong female friendships
This was a lovely, hilarious companion to A Brush With Love, which I absolutely loved, so I was super excited to read Lizzie Blake, and I loved this one MORE. I will read everything that Mazey Eddings writes and I am so excited to see what she comes out with next!
(Thank you to Headline Eternal for gifting me a copy of this wonderful book!)

I totally loved this book. As a fan of ‘A Brush with Love’ I had high hopes but I think this may have been even better than expected! I loved the representation of ADHD in a main character as there are so many misconceptions. Also, completely obsessed with the spice in this book! 5/5 from me.
This was a lovely rom con you love does deal with certain topics you might want to be careful of. I loved this book. Great writing style. With amazing characters you love.
Mazey Eddings has well and truly earned a spot as one of my new favourite authors. Her storytelling is so enjoyable and she creates such brilliant characters.
I really love the way you can learn something about the world / people through NA romance and in this case it was learning about ADHD in women.
I loved Lizzie and Rake and even enjoyed the surprise pregnancy trope, which is sometimes a bit hit or miss for me.
I’ll definitely be reading everything Mazey writes! Loved this one!
I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to NetGalley, who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review.
This book is actually the second book in the ‘A Brush With Love’ series but can very easily be read as a stand alone, with no problems whatsoever.
Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake was a wonderful, fun, emotional read and once I started to read it I just couldn’t stop! It was so easy to read and kept me turning the pages.
Both of the two main characters were down-to-earth and believable and I really enjoyed getting to know them.
I really enjoyed this book, the main characters had great chemistry and I warmed to them instantly.
A great opposites attract story with lots of humour and a sprinkling of sauciness…..
THIS. WAS. BEAUTIFUL.

I thought I was going to be reading a chilled, fluffy romance...what I got was two horny people's stunning love story!! Seriously, the sex and smut took me by surprise, but in the BEST WAY!!!
Some authors don't know how to write a good accidental pregnancy plot BUT MAZEY EDDINGS CAN!!! From the initial lust between Lizzie and Rake to the way they learned about each other for each other and grew together for themselves and their baby rather than just because of an accidental baby was BEAUTIFUL!!!
Mazey made their love a heart-warming process to watch!! Plus it was funny - I snorted sooo many times - and so perfectly awkward and cute and I just couldn't get enough of either character or the plot!!
Rake was the perfect MMC - sexy, caring, a little traumatised but he was real and clumsy and you could feel his struggle but the way he was there for Lizzie was just so so so so perfect!! He wasn't the arrogant, never-makes-a-mistake kind of guy, he was a real man with real worries with a huge heart and I fell in love with him!!
But Lizzie!! Oh Lizzieee!! MY BABY!! She healed me and broke me and made me laugh and made my heart ache and made me want to hug her and give her all the love in the world!!
As someone who's never really known anyone close to have ADHD, it was really heart-breaking in a good and bad way to see Lizzie's struggle and the way it didn't just affect her concentration but soo many other things!! And the pain she went through and the way she developed and learnt to love her brain with more earnest was wonderful!! You couldn't help but keep cheering her on!!
In conclusion, Mazey Eddings and her imperfectly perfect characters, stunning romances, beautiful plots has just become an instant-purchase author for me!!!!
This was such a sweet read. It is fast paced type of romance. I realy enjoyed reading this book. 4.5 stars
An enjoyable, and fairly fast paced read.
Lizzie and Rake meet when he is in the US for work, but returns when she finds she is pregnant. Will they have a chance at being more than co-parents?
Interesting to read about a character with adhd, something I didn't know much about.
'Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake' is now one of my new all time favourite romance books. After reading 'A Brush With Love' earlier this year, I was a bit hesitant about picking up anything else by Mazey Eddings because whilst I flew threw A Brush With Love, I was not absolutely obsessed with it, but this book was next level.
I will warn that this book is an accidental pregnancy book, which I know a lot of people don't like, but I absolutely love this trope and this book did it exceptionally well.
The spice in this book was next level. It was so well done and I was obsessed.
Lizzie and Rake were so perfect for each other. They complimented each other so well. The banter between them was immaculate and I could not stop laughing at the interactions between them.
I related to Lizzie so much. I loved her character so much and all I wanted was to see her happy and in love with Rake. Lizzie and Rake's relationship was so hard hitting and emotional but also so funny and adorable at the same time. There was just something about this book that felt so new and different from all the other romance books I have read recently and it has sparked my love for reading romance again which I am so grateful for.
I cannot wait to read what Mazie Eddings writes next as I know it is going to be amazing.
I also cannot wait to finally have a finished copy of this book to put on my bookshelf and to reread in the future.
Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake, a companion novel to Mazey Edding’s TikTok sensation A Brush With Love was a wonderfully funny, swoon worthy and emotionally deep rom-com that was just as satisfyingly unputdownable as its predecessor, with two relatable, charming protagonists I absolutely ADORED!
It follows Lizzie (Who we first meet in A Brush With Love) who finds herself once again unemployed after making one too many mistakes at work, mostly due to her ADHD which often makes it difficult to focus on anything. Something her emotionally distant parents spent years blaming her for.
It’s no wonder she breaks her one cardinal rule (never hookup with the same guy twice) to help de-stress. Handsome Aussie, Rake has given up on relationships—or any form of relationship for that matter. But two nights with the chaotic whirlwind that is Lizzie Blake might just have him lowering his guard, fortunately he’s heading back to Australia, FAR AWAY from the feelings she inspires.
But when Lizzie finds out she’s pregnant, Rake will do anything to be in his child’s life—so long as emotions are off the table. Except… everyone makes mistakes , and Lizzie and Rake might have just stumbled upon the best mistake of their lives.
I absolutely loved Eddings’ debut and adored It’s main character Harper, so
I knew Lizzie’s story was gonna be good. I hadn’t anticipated for Lizzie to literally steal my heart and usurp Harper’s spot as my favourite neurodivergent character. Lizzie is such a vibrant ray of sunshine that I can’t imagine anyone not loving!
She definitely goes on a poignant, life changing journey (which is to be expected given she’s about to become a mum) but having had such an awful, upbringing with emotionally neglectful parents it easy to see why Lizzie struggles with intimacy and opening herself up to others. But her relationship with Rake was a soothing and uplifting balm to the struggles and insecurity Lizzie has endured and I loved how protective, caring and supportive Rake was every step of the way.
He’s an absolute cinnamon roll of a character who should be protected at all costs, as despite still dealing with his own emotional baggage surrounding a breakup, moves halfway across the world to support the stranger carrying his child—and to be ready to co-parent alongside them.
Although the chemistry is palpable immediately between these two and the romance is absolutely swoon worthy, I have to admit it’s Mazey Edding’s delicately crafted, sensitive portrayal of neurodivergence and sex positivity was what really made this a standout read, with endaringly relatable characters (main and supporting) that literally leapt off the page—we’re even treated not one but two perfect antagonists in the form of Lizzie’s cold, judgemental mum and Rake’s misogynistic boss (trust me there’s no redeeming either of them) you’re gonna love to hate.
Overall, a uniquely heartwarming and utterly addictive contemporary romance that fans of accidental pregnancy, forced proximity or the grumpy/sunshine trope are bound to enjoy.
Also, thanks to headline eternal and Netgalley for the e-arc.
