This was a wonderful book. That was packed full of beautiful cat pictures. I am more a dog girl as I used to be scared of cats due to an auntie scary cat. I'm definitely over that now. After reading this book I wish I was a crazy cat lady. As they are gorgeous and reading about how lovely they are I want a hairless cat. I didn't know there was so many breeds. I found it fascinating looking at the pictures from wild cats to domesticated breeds. It was definitely a wonderful journey of discovery for me. I loved learning about their characteristics and behaviour. I really found the bits of text accompanying the pictures fascinating. I loved the head shape of the text cat breeds. I do like the unique looking cats. I loved learning about new things and this book certainly didn't disappoint.

I really can't recommend this book enough especially if you are a cat lover. Or want to learn more about them. This book would make a great family read or coffee table book just to sit and enjoy over and over again. Out of all the brilliant pictures in this book I was surprised they chose a black cat for the front cover. I might of picked a grey one or the gorgeous maine coon. My dog would also like me to note he was very interested in reading this book too as he stared excitedly at the pictures while perching on my shoulder. I actually think he is either part cat or part mountain goat.

Only the highest of praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this fantastic book that I just couldn't put down I just had to read it all in one sitting. I will definitely be looking out for more books by this fantastic author.

Cats: A Celebration of Our Feline Friends has a collection of stunning photographs of every breed of cat, wild and domesticated, along with information about each one. It also includes information that relates to all cats, such as why cats purr and what it looks like when they are aggressive versus scared.

This book would make an excellent coffee table book! This is a quick read that can easily be picked up when you just have a minute or when you want to find the answer to a question about various cats. This book is a must-have for any cat lover. Did I mention how beautiful the pictures are? Just when I thought the book couldn’t get any cuter, it ended with a collection of kitten pictures!

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this book.

I requested this thinking it would give me an insight into my.crazy cat's mind! It didn't....it had some intetesting tidbits if information and the pictures were stunning but the majority was just explaining the different breeds and types of cats. Worth it just for the pictures though :)

Princess Fuzzypants here: Are you a cat lover? Do you know a cat lover? Are you, like me, a cat? If you replied yes to any one of those questions, you are going to love- and I mean LOVE- this book. It is not because my own breed, Maine Coon, is given lots of space. No. This covers cats of all shapes, sizes and colours from the magnificent wild cats to the short haired puds to the long and luxurious haired breeds like myself. I truly cannot think of any type of cat that was left out. I think they got them all. Plus it includes some great general information so our human minions can better serve us.

And the photos? OMC! They are spectacular. I read this book as a Kindle ARC in return for an honest review. I wish I had this in hardcover because it would have a place of honour. I was really blown away by it. We are magnificent creatures and the author, in her wisdom, has honoured us as we deserve to be honoured.

If I could give more than five purrs and two paws up, I would. This will make an ideal gift to someone you love… even if it is yourself.

3.5 out of 5 stars.
Thank you to the publisher for sending me a NetGalley arc of this book.
Overall, I loved the pictures in this book. As a cat lover and owner myself, I was gushing over these images and wanting more cats in my life.
However, I wish that there was more detail in the behaviours of cats and that the author allowed us as readers to gain a better insight into the mannerisms and behaviours of felines. I felt as though this element was lacking.
I still believe that this would be a great book to gift a cat lover for an occasion as it is a stunning book with beautiful images throughout.

I have acquired many cat books throughout my life as a cat lover. The cover on this one is mesmerizing and said "try me!" I was not disappointed. This book contains stunning photos of cats--I could stare at them for hours and feel like I could almost reach out and touch their fur. I was also surprised to find a significant section on wild cats that contained several I'd never heard of before (e.g.,. Andean mountain cat, Chinese steppe cat). The cats are often photographed in action (leaping or even swimming as with the fishing cat). The domestic cat section is divided into short- and long-haired chapters. Again, there were breeds I'd not heard of before, such as Aphrodite or Kanaani, and each contains a short description that helps to inform. The book concludes with sections on Cat Behaviour and Kittens, each with lavish photography. This would be a great coffee-table book or a gift for a cat lover. Exceptional!

Thank you NetGalley and Amber Books Ltd for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

The book starts out with a section and beautiful photos of non-domestic cats of all sizes and continents. Then there’s the biggest part with photos and small titbits of information about a lot of different cat breeds before there is the section on cat behaviour. That chapter actually mostly describinges a cat’s senses and physical specialities as well as some behaviour before there is a section with kitten photos of different breeds and one to two-sentence texts about these breed’s characteristics.
The publisher’s text makes this out to be like an amazing encyclopaedia of cat behaviour and portraits of different breeds. While the book does cover a lot of breeds, it excels in pictures but not in detailed descriptions of the breeds or behaviour. I had expected much more going by the publisher’s description of the book.
My biggest grievance, however, is that I did not like how many cat breeds were featured that – at least in Germany – are considered damaging, unhealthy and cruel for the animal such as Munchkin, Curly breeds* and Scottish Fold. There is scientific research showing that these animals suffer from many illnesses and genetic defects. This should not be promoted.
*interesting enough, in the behaviour part the author herself explains how important the whiskers are. That this sense is stinted for cats with curly whiskers is, however, not addressed.
In conclusion: gorgeous photos but nothing I would buy or gift.

I love cats!! I've always (and still)loved them in the abstract and I loved them even more when I had my own big ball of fur. I had a 21 pound orange Maine Coon who was the best cat ever! He died almost 3 years ago and I still miss him every day.

This book is chock full of fun and interesting facts about cats and is filled with wonderful photos. A must for any cat lover. Put this one on your Christmas list!!

My thanks to Amber Books for a temporary digital review copy via NetGalley of ‘Cats A Celebration of our Feline Friends’ by Julianna Photopoulos.

This is a gorgeous coffee table book bursting with colour photographs of cats both large and small, accompanied by short descriptions.

After the Introduction, the main part of the book is divided into Wild Cats, Shorthair Cats, Longhair Cats, Cat Behaviour, and Kittens. With respect to the domestic cat it always amazes me that they are all members of the same species, Felis catus.

This would make a perfect gift for a cat lover.

Thanks to Netgalley and Amber Books for the ARC of this!

I really enjoyed looking at all the different photographs of cats in this very image heavy book. I had no idea there were so many breeds! I feel like it is very informative and enjoyable for cat lovers, even older kids, just be aware there is one “mating” image.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The pictures are stunning and I loved learning new facts about different cats. The book goes through the different species of big cats such as lions and tigers as well as different breeds of house cats and kittens. It also talks about cats abilities and distinct physical traits they have. Although I do have to say my favorite part was looking at the gorgeous pictures and reading cute facts about the cats. It was a quick and fascinating read.

This was another fantastic nonfiction book from Amber Books, full of gorgeous photos of all sorts of cat breeds.
As always there were amazing photos, with clear short text, stopping it from being too heavy on detail and boring. The book is split up into four chapters including an Introduction, Wild Cats, Short Haired Breeds, Long Haired Breeds, Behaviour and Kittens.
I haven’t owned a cat since I was a child, and it was only a moggy, so this was a brilliant book to learn about all the different breeds from around the world. There were lots of gorgeous looking cats, and a few I really didn’t like the look of, especially the ones that look like they only have skin and no fur. Did you know there’s such a thing as a werewolf cat? Or a breed of white cat called the Khao Manee that has odd coloured eyes and was originally bred by the Thai Royal family? I think they should rename it the David Bowie cat on account of the different colour eyes! 😂
My favourite chapter was the short haired breeds, where I found my fantasy cat, a gorgeous British Blue. It was grey and so chubby and cuddly looking with stunning orange eyes! If I could have a cat where I live, that’s the one I would choose, although I suspect my husband and son would want a different breed. 😂
Highly recommended if you love cats, but probably not a good idea if you’re thinking of getting one as you’ll probably want them all! 😂

If like cats even just a little this book is for you. We loved the pictures in this book, they are absolutely gorgeous. My daughter loves cats, and we have spend many days reading over all the different types of cats along with the different breeds. She was actually asking me about this two days before I got this book, so it was perfect timing.

This is an absolutely gorgeous coffee table books containing beautiful pictures of cats of a whole host of breeds, including ones I have never heard of before, and even a moggy or two. Each picture is accompanied by a snippet of information about the breed. From the blurb on the back of the book, I did expect a bit more text about cat behaviours, and it didn't really deliver on that score, but as a visual celebration of the diversity of felines I really loved it.

As a lifetime cat slave owner, there was never any doubt I was going to read this book. Cats zooms in on wild cats and the big cats, takes a look at various breeds of house cats around the world, and some of their origins, discusses feline behaviour and body language and dedicates a whole chapter to kittens with photos that will make you melt if you’re anything like me.
As far as the chapter on behaviour goes, I read multiple books on that topic these last couple of years, and while Cats is not the most comprehensive, I feel it does tackle the things about a cat’s behaviour that are most important to know in order to get a basic understanding of the feline body language.
I learnt quite a few things about wild cats and discovered a few domestic breeds I didn’t know existed. It’s also rather fun to look at the various breeds and try to figure out what heritage your own moggie might have. With its tons of absolutely gorgeous photos and fun facts and titbits, Cats was an absolute pleasure to read and look at and it’s definitely a must-have for any cat lover.

*** I have received and read an e – ARC from NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback. All thoughts and opinions are my own.***

I’ve always loved cats, so I was looking forward to this book.

What I received far outstripped my expectations. The photography was absolutely stunning, and will make an excellent coffee table piece that will be sure to start mini a conversation.

There were not only pictures of domesticated cats, but wildcats as well.
