Well a cross with Vanity Fair and Déjà vu from a more recent past.

Becky had a rough start to life but rises well above expectations of others probably not her own, she's grafted done the work and well you can read the rest. This I full of intrigue not identical to history so unexpected twists and yes great characters the good the bad and the doppy.

So why would I give this 5stars to start with I didn't want to put it down so that's a great start I liked the main character you may or may not it's for you to choose but I did. I feel that is always a bonus not going to to get far if you hate the main character. But I accept that's not always the case but for me it's important, the others are a mix bag some I felt sorry for others I liked but not sure why just like real life at times. They all have important roles even if you don't find it why to later on or at the end yes it's one you have to see through which I didn't have a problem with, just didn't want it to end but desperately wanted to know the end. Its addictive what can I say.

I'm glad I got to read this book 📖 I was given it for free in return for a honest review but works be very happy to pay to read something of this quality it's a worthy purchase. That's my honest opinion. Love to know what you think?

Sharp and uncomfortable at times, Becky is a hell of a read.

Documenting her early life and it’s traumas to her new career at a newspaper this is a dark, yet funny at times, book with a mystery.

I liked the character detail and I found her ambition to get to the top really well written.

Becky’s Tale..
Becky’s tale, from her sometime difficult and challenging childhood onwards, her struggles and determinations growing up and to adulthood set against a 90’s London backdrop. Becky is single mindedly determined to make a success of her own life - the Mercury newspaper is calling - and nothing and nobody will stand in her way. The rise of this contemporary heroine will see her trample and manipulate for her eventual success and ultimately play her own part in her utterly devastating downfall. Darkly humorous, scathingly edgy and oft emotional.

Wow what a book.
We are taken back and forth to her childhood which was grim to say the least.
She becomes a strong woman and will do what she has to to get to the top.
Gradually we are given more details of her younger years and things become clearer.
Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for my copy.
I loved this book and although quite long i ended up reading it far to quickly.

Becky by Sarah May is a wonderfully intriguing, dark story of a young girl brought up by her single mother who is battling her own demons. Becky's mother works as a cleaner at the nearby boarding school for girls. Becky accompanies her mother every Saturday and plays the piano whilst her mother cleans the school. Becky finds herself receiving piano lessons whilst her mother embarks on an affair with the piano teacher
The book begins with Becky elaborating on her CV to land herself a job with the editor of The Mercury newspaper. - as the story unfolds, it moves quite rapidly through Becky's life where she meets Amelia - and her group of friends who all resided at same the boarding school.
reminiscent of Vanity Fair - Becky is a climber - she has set her sights on working for The Mercury - and that she does with lots of mishaps along the way.

The story was enjoyable although the tranisition from one period of Becky's life to another was at times confusing as there was no indication that there had been a change.
