This is a fantastic book. Lili and Ben have a chance meeting in London, where over the course of 36 hours they fall in love, but due to Ben's travel arrangements agree they will meet in one year's time at the spot they first met. Fate means that the meeting does not happen.
Five years later, Lili ends up in Ben's home village in Scotland with no memory of who she is or why she is there. Ben tries to help her piece her life back together.
The book flits from present day to the past and what brought Lili up to Scotland. With themes of coercive control and emotional abuse, this has a really compelling storyline and I couldn't put it down. Brilliant writing.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed Never Forget You.
Main characters Lili and Ben meet by chance in a small hidden garden in London and spend two glorious days and one night together.
Ben is a travel photographer, who jet sets across the world capturing captivating photos.
Lili is a violinist, attending the prestigious Conservatory, but her insecurities and doubts about her abilities, coupled with bullying from classmates, has caused her to question her career path.
With Ben’s globetrotting adventures awaiting they bid their farewell and plan to meet in the same garden in one year.
But the next year, only one of them shows up.
Fast forward five years, and Ben is living in Scotland and is the guardian to his young niece after the untimely death of his sister.
A young woman shows up in town with no memory of who she is and how she got there and Ben thinks this she looks like Lili. Is it her? What is she doing here?
The story goes between the past and present and is told from their different perspectives.
Without giving spoilers, this book deals with abuse and the subtle way that it can develop.
This isn't your typical amnesia storyline, everything about it felt authentic and the progression made it clear that the author had done some research into how this could actually happen.
This is a really moving contemporary romance novel with a hint of mystery.
I was rooting for both Lili and Ben and I enjoyed their journey from Scotland to the wedding and unveiling the truth behind this mystery woman.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book gave me absolute goosebumps, it was tense, but also sweet.
Loved the mystery and fast pace, it was such a wonderful read and I absolutely adored jt
Beautifully written. This book was an emotional roller-coaster and it was heartbreaking. However I enjoyed every bit of it!
Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for a copy of this e-book in exchange for an honest review.
'Never Forget You' is an emotionally charged and beautifully crafted story that explores the complexities of love, memory, and the power of second chances. Lucas weaves a narrative that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you deeply moved.
Fiona Lucas masterfully explores the themes of love, forgiveness, and second chances in a way that is both poignant and relatable. The characters are beautifully developed, and their emotions are vividly portrayed, making it impossible not to become emotionally invested in their journeys. The story's emotional depth and intricately woven plot keep readers engaged and eager to uncover the secrets of the past.
This is a story that will make your heart ache and your soul soar. Fiona Lucas has created a narrative that resonates with authenticity and vulnerability. Her writing is both lyrical and evocative, creating a powerful atmosphere that envelops the reader. Fiona's storytelling prowess shines brightly in this unforgettable tale of lost love and the hope of second chances.
This is a fantastic read, A beautiful love story but also heartbreaking. You will not want to put it down.
Thanks NetGalley
I loved the storyline so much, I just couldn't put this one down.
It was both beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time!
A brilliant read
One of my favourite books for quite a while
A beautiful love story but also heartbreaking
You will not want to put it down
Thanks NetGalley
Never forget you by Fiona Lucas
This was a great story with somewhat of a dual timeline. Lili & Ben’s love story gets sadly interrupted. Along the way we are taken on a journey of coincidence where uncomfortable themes are explored Abusive, controlling relationships and the impact on previously socially engaged people. This is definitely one worth the read. Four stars
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
A romantic boy meets girl story with a difference. The whirlwind romance the reader is set up for doesn’t materialise and events turn in a different direction until a woman with amnesia turns up in a Scottish village five years later and the truth starts to emerge. An emotionally compelling read which fails to stand out in its genre.
With thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an opportunity to read and review an advance copy.
I really enjoyed reading Never Forget You, I've read a few books by this author before and I can't wait to read more.
This beautiful, heartbreaking, second chance romance takes us on a soul consuming journey. It isn’t always pleasant, the opening couple of chapters are just a smoke screen, lulling you into a false sense of security before you’re dropped back down to earth and taken on a 400 page rollercoaster filled with every range of emotion you can think of. But hey, isn’t that a what a good book is all about it? ❤️🔥
I went into this book completely blind, the blurb the only thing that I read before diving in. I’m now surprised it hasn’t been shown more on here. It gave definite CoHo/TJR vibes (although this is a clean romance, so much is going on that you don’t even care).👩❤️💋👨
I wasn’t bored once (which I’ve started to find with my much beloved smut w minimal plot) – I don’t know what has become of me but the plot in this was SO. BLOODY. GOOD. 🤌🏼
I read this cover to cover in half a day – it broke me and then healed me and I cried happy tears at the end (HEA).❣️
🎻Lili has a tough journey after initially meeting Ben, paved with turmoil and trauma, watching her arc was so satisfying – pls read the triggers, as Lili’s experiences are not for the faint hearted. The portrayal of emotional/mental abuse by Fiona are done very well, they are sensitive yet completely honest. ⚠️
👰♀The mystery surrounding Alice, the runaway with amnesia, and the struggles she encounters are interesting and emotional, she really helps Ben with his own journey and the issues he has encountered.
📸Speaking of, the man is LITERAL GOLD, a beautifully well written character, he was my favourite.
🕴🏼I won’t say much about Justin, only that him and people like him should rot in hell xoxo
The dual timelines and ‘multiple’ POVs work so well, taking away some of the heaviness that can come with this type of story – all in all it was extremely well written with dynamic and interesting characters, a well thought out plot and structure, it gave me all the feels and I highly recommend it! 🥲💖
The good side of love and the dark side of love. How does a person react and learn to survive in an uncompromising position, put up with it or lose her mind? An unforgettable love story.
Lili and Ben - they first meet in a secret London garden and have an instant attraction. Five years on Alice appears in a Scottish village having lost her memory to meet Ben again. Together they then have to piece her together with a wedding invitation the only clue to her identity,
The events of the last 5 years are slowly divulged and you see her as a victim of an abusive relationship and the impact this has had on her.
Hard to read at times but ultimately uplifting.
One to be recommended.
This was the best book I've read in a LONG time. it was perfection. it was such an emotional rollercoaster I continuously got Goosebumps and felt so many emotions. This is the kind of book that you absolutely have to set time aside for before you begin to read it as you won’t be able to put it down. It is a beautiful, and yet also heart-breaking, story of finding yourself when you’ve been through the very worst that life throws at you. I love when a book is a total surprise like this. I didn't expect to love it so much. I'll be recommending it to all of my friends.
I was drawn to this book by the front cover and it didn't disappont. It is well written with a compelling storyline and well developed characters that I loved. I really enjoyed it. The storyline was engaging and really pulls you in!
An emotional rollercoaster but I loved it! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me an advance copy, I will definitely be recommending.
Lovely! A book with lots of warm, fuzzy moments, as well as some which make you feel rather uncomfortable. Likeable (mostly!) characters that you root for from the beginning and nicely-described locations too. I enjoyed this story from day one, intrigued as to what was going to happen. There were a few unexpected twists along the way, but a satisfactory ending. I particularly enjoyed the "then" and "now" aspect of alternative chapters as we learned about Lili's story. Would definitely recommend this!
A chance meeting of Lili and Ben, for one day only. They agreed to meet a year later but, circumstances got in the way.
Five years later and Alice, a stranger, turns up in Ben's hometown. Who is this woman? With no memory of how she got there or why she went there. Can Ben help her to remember?
