I felt this book wasn't sure what it wanted to be, a murder mystery, or a family drama.
After the shock value of opening with a crime, it seemed to be almost forgotten.
It's very female heavy, and lots of mother/daughter relationships.
Then the second timeline brings the reality of unwed mothers in the 40'/50's.
I enjoyed it, but I don't think it's going to be very memorable in a few months time.

I really enjoyed this ARC from Netgalley. It was well written and provided enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I had figured out parts fairly early on but still enjoyed the ride. I found the references to Christianity somewhat one sided however, and perhaps the writer was a little lacking in research, but it was good nonetheless.
