In this riveting thriller, a year ago Isabelle's life fell apart when her infant son Mason disappeared from his bedroom. Obsessed with uncovering the truth she teams up with a true crime podcaster. The twists keep coming right up to the shocking conclusion.

One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her—literally.

Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year.

Isabelle's entire existence now revolves around finding him, but she knows she can’t go on this way forever. In hopes of jarring loose a new witness or buried clue, she agrees to be interviewed by a true-crime podcaster—but his interest in Isabelle's past makes her nervous. His incessant questioning paired with her severe insomnia has brought up uncomfortable memories from her own childhood, making Isabelle start to doubt her recollection of the night of Mason’s disappearance, as well as second-guess who she can trust... including herself. But she is determined to figure out the truth no matter where it leads.

It took me forever to read Stacy Willingham's debut novel, A Flicker in the Dark, but as soon as I got my hands on All the Dangerous Things I knew that I needed to eat it right up. Willingham has such a way of drawing you into a story and getting you to care about her characters - which I think is a rare gift for a lot of thriller books!

The missing child storyline is what really drew me to this book, and then when I also saw this features a podcaster I wanted to know more. I've been really enjoying that trope lately, as someone who listens to a lot of podcasts!

All the Dangerous Things drew me in immediately and the pacing kept up the entire way through. I really enjoyed the darker ending, which I only started to expect partway through. I love it when thrillers throw in a dark twist!

This story proves that I get on really well with Willingham's writing and I'm pleased that her sophomore book was just as good as her debut. I don't think the characters are as memorable, but their actions certainly were. I'm really looking forward to seeing what she comes out with next!

The writing in this was outstanding. It pulled me in and didn’t let go. It fitted the atmosphere and had my heart racing.

I loved the plot. The mystery of what happened to Mason, coupled with the protagonists’ lack of sleep, was different and intriguing. It also left us with an unreliable narrator, which made me question literally everything. I found it slow, though. It felt like during the middle of the book, nothing was really happening. It also dragged towards the end and I found the last 20% of the book tedious. It wrapped up nicely though, I just felt they could have dealt it with it in fewer pages. I was, however, intrigued by trying to figure out if what the protagonist was seeing and believing was real or not. The component of the sleepwalking was also interesting.

The two time periods were done well. I loved getting to know the protagonists past through her own eyes instead of just being told about it (which lets face it gets very annoying!). Overall, although I had some problems with this book, it was a decent read and I’m glad I took the time to read it!

Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher, for a chance to read and review this book.

I wasn't crazy about this book. I didn't think Isabelle was a very sympathetic character and found it hard to get to know her. Although I thought that anyone who thought she should start to move on was callous to say the least. I like this author but the book just wasn't one for me.

The first 50% of this book was okay and I did struggle to keep wanting to pick it up, it was giving me 3 star vibes however the last 30% bumped this up to a 4 star. The pacing got quicker and I really liked the plot twist

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this arc for me to review

Thanks to NetGalley for my review copy of 'All the Dangerous Things' in exchange for an honest review. I liked Willingham's first book ('A Flicker in the Dark') so was very intrigued to see what would follow...

This book is told from the point of view of Isabelle Drake, a mother trying to make sense of her young son's disappearance from his bedroom a year before. As she tells her story at true crime conventions, she attracts the attention of many people who all have their own theories about what happened to the toddler - including podcaster Waylon Spencer who convinces Isabelle to collaborate on his show. As Isabelle's past is raked over, some unexpected and disturbing truths come to light.

I'll admit that I came to this book with a little trepidation as I find things about missing children upsetting, but Willingham has handled it well and gives us a nuanced and realistic portrait of a grieving mother who is seeking the truth, no matter how painful that could prove to be, Isabelle is an interesting character as she is plagued with insomnia - something that renders her narrative a little fragmented, incomplete and unreliable at times. The reader is left to question what can be believed - while also feeling desperately sorry for Isabelle.

There were so many points in the story where I thought I'd figured it out - and I really hadn't. The story continues twisting and revealing surprises right to the end. This makes for a compelling read and a mostly satisfying conclusion, although I did have a few question marks over the forensics of part of the ending. I blame myself for reading too many police procedurals!

This is a compelling and interesting tale - and one I'd recommend. I think Willingham is one to watch - her two books have been quite different, but both packed with an eerie tension and clever ideas. I look forward to whatever she writes next.,

I really struggled with this book very slow moving.
The storyline follows a sleep deprived mum and a missing child, a lot of the story was told by a podcaster.
I ended up dnfing the story so unsure if the ending would have changed my view.
I got bored and did not care about the missing child, maybe I am just not keen on stories with unreliable narrators.
Thank you to the publisher for my advance copy for an honest review.

One year ago Isabelle Drake’s son Mason was taken from his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However Isabella cannot rest until she has answers and her son returned to her.

Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time she hasn’t slept in a year.

In hopes of jarring loose a new witness Isabelle speaks at true crime conventions and agrees to be interviewed by a true crime podcaster.

Her questioning paired with severe insomnia has brought uncomfortable memories from her own childood, making Isabelle second guess her own recollection of the night of Mason’s disappearance, as well as who she can trust. Including herself.

I thought this was a fairly dark and slightly uncomfortable story. Isabelle is the broken woman you would expect her to be after the traumatic taking of her son. She is the classic unreliable narrator. She remembers things and she sees things, but did they really happen and are they really there - or is this the result of zero sleep and the ultimate stress on her mind.

I had a theory at 20% and I was wrong, which I was pleased about - otherwise it would have just been too easy.

The book was very slow-paced. Every time a step forward was taken in the current timeline, we returned to Isabelle’s past. This prolonged the suspense and the quest we were on to get answers.

The ending was very good and the last few chapters I sped through unable to stop, fearing but always hoping yet another twist in the tale would unfold.

Thank you @netgalley and @harpercollinsuk for my copy of this book in return for a review.

This was my first Stacy Willingham and I have A Flicker In The Dark booked in for our book club’s November pick!

Another great offering from Stacy. Atmospheric, unreliable and tense throughout allowed for an enjoyable read. Partly predictable, but still worth a read.
Big thanks to the publisher and netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second Stacy Willingham book I've read and I enjoyed it, especially the last quarter of the book which contained lots of twists and turns. I did find the main character Isabelle slightly annoying at times, especially as there was a lot of unanswered questions from her past but that didn't seem like she had ever actually asked the questions. If she had it might have made her life a bit easier.

I look forward to reading more books from this author in the future.

This is a great read. I love the suspense, the atmosphere, and the characters. This is a really cleverly written story with a good pace that keeps up right to the very end.

This book was an easy 5 star for me. I was sceptical to read this after A Flicker in the Dark as I thought I was just going to be left disappointed, but i was wrong!
I loved everything from the pacing, the characters, and especially the twists. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and was left guessing right up until the last chapter.
If you like physcological thrillers, I definitely recommend this.
Stacey Willingham just secured herself as an auto-buy author for me!

I don’t even know where to start with this book. What an absolute ride. It’s been a while since I started reading a book where I could not move until it was finished. If I were to sum up my feelings in one sentence, it would be to say that Stacy Willingham is now an auto-buy author for me.

The plot twists were amazing in All The Dangerous Things but that’s not what made this an excellent read, it was how the plot was laid out by the author. Something is always happening in this book. It might not be big and in your face but there are always crumbs being dropped that make you want to keep following the path. The author is the best at planting seeds and it means that when there are big reveals, they make perfect sense. How she managed to do that without enabling me to guess what is coming next is outstanding. What I also loved about the plot was the twist it had on a tried and tested story. Chances are you have already read many books about abducted children, but you won’t have read any like this.

The characters were also amazing. While reading the book, I solely saw them for their entertainment value. Isabelle was so intriguing and I knew from the start there would be so much to unpack with her. I felt empathy but also felt like I was being kept at arms length. At the end, I read the author’s note and I had a new level of respect for Isabelle and all the other female characters in the book. The author uses them to touch on very important topics and helps open our mind, while also keeping us hooked on our fictional world.

Overall, I can’t fault this book. It’s already a strong contender for my book of the year.
