Straightforward survey of the major (and some minor) military aircraft used by the Russians. Good illustrations and excellent drawings.
I received this book through Net Galley. My thanks to NG, the author and publisher for the book.
For a military aircraft buff like me, this book is a real treat. The art work is very clear and precise, and the photos show real time instances. One does not often see , here in the West, anyway, Soviet and Russian camo schemes depicted so well. For a guy who loves making scale model aircraft as close to real as possible, this book is a great one to have and to gift
Far too technical and trainspottery for the layman, this specialist book will be a wonder for those more concerned with what the Ukrainians are having to shoot out the sky here in 2022. Some of this kit is from the real Soviet days, much from the CIS and beyond, but either way, every possible iteration of all the relevant fighters, bombers, choppers and more are on these full-colour pages, crammed with tech, weaponry and equipment, export numbers when notable, and active service history. Having seen several of these books from this publishing house (one I rate very highly for competency, pictorial and otherwise) it's clear this has more dynamic mock-ups in amongst its artwork – certainly we've had fewer belly-up shots of weapons being deployed before now. But there's nothing detracting from the seriousness of these WMDs and neither is there a loss in comparing this to one of those old Jane's publications. If you need this, you need this. If you don't, you won't ever.
