Sarah Adams is a new to me author this month and I was taken by surprise quite how much I enjoyed this one!

Amelia Rae Rose needs a break from her successful pop career to get her head back on straight, so sets off for Rome. That’s Rome, Kentucky - not Rome, Italy. There she meats Noah (swoon worthy book boyfriend name) and his three sisters. The town of Rome keep her secret for as long as they can but she soon becomes suspicious of those closest to her in her old life.

Usually when I start with a new to me author it takes me quite a while to get into their writing but the wait was worth it here and the story turned out an easy to enjoy read with lovable characters and a dual POV which I love in a romance!

I loved this small town, not quite enemies to lovers, forced proximity romance hit. I definitely think I’ll keep this one to reread in the future and I’m looking forward to reading The Cheat Sheet next.

This was such an adorable read,I love a good slow burn romance and this is so much more, the romance between Amelia and Noah is just perfect, they had such satisfying chemistry. This would make a great Hallmark movie, sometimes could be a bit cheesy but that’s what I loved, it adds to the humour.

Very much what some would consider a guilty pleasure, but I never hold with that view, why would you feel bad about something you love so this is just a pleasure to me. This is such a cute read and this book had such a satisfying ending

I definitely recommend this to romcom lovers, celebrity romance lovers and just anyone who loves a Heartwarming romance. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I've been so behind with my reading this week so literally started reading this one earlier this morning, and couldn't put it down it was so good.

I love Audrey Hepburn and her films are all classics, so knowing this was a modern take on Roman Holiday I couldn't resist.

Engaging, entertaining and an absolute delight to read. The perfect small town romance, peppered throughout with Hepburn references.

Our main characters Amelia and Noah were so cute together and you just wanted them to hurry up and get it on! The supporting cast of characters were great and all made for a great story.

Many thanks to Headline Eternal for my tour spot.

Rae Rose is running away from her life, while Adam Walker is trying to hide from his past and his very nosey town. But when the celebrity singer ends up broken down on his front lawn soon too worlds will collide and Adam and Rae will be the ones to save each other.

This is the second book I have read but this author and I are still just as obsessed. This very feel-good romance novel will leave you laughing, cringing and warm inside.
I loved the opposite persona of the main characters but also loved how the minor characters of each brought mischief and nosiness; although meaning well to the book.

This is an effortless read and I found myself flying through it and engaged from the first page.

Adams does not disappoint and I look forward to more from them.

“It’s like the game I used to play as a kid, the Floor Is Lava, except this time the game is called the Woman Is Lava. I can’t touch her or i’ll burn.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read The Cheat Sheet earlier this year after hearing all of the hype surrounding it and thought it was such a super cute romance, so I was so excited to get my hands on When in Rome, and I actually loved this one more!

In When in Rome we follow Amelia, also known as pop sensation Rae Rose, who is going through a bit of a crises, so she takes a trip to Rome, Kentucky for a break from her superstar life. Though when she gets there, her car breaks down in the local pie shop owners front yard. With no way to get back, she’s invited to stay in his home for a few days. With her going back to her pop star life, and him unable to do long distance relationships, nothing could possibly go wrong…

I’ve mentioned a few times that reading about famous people is one of my favourite things to do, and Sarah Adams did it so well. Amelia and Noah had such amazing chemistry from the get go, and had me laughing out loud and “awww”ing constantly. 🥹

Read this if you love:

💙 Grumpy/sunshine
💙 Dual POV
💙 Closed door
💙 Pining

My oh pie (sorry again, bad pun), Sarah Adams has done it once again 👏🏽 This is a celebrity romance like no other, it’s got all the right ingredients for an incredible read and I promise you… it’s perfectly baked 🥧 🍒 This book gave me sore cheeks, I was smiling so much whilst reading this.

🥧Forced Proximity
🥧Grumpy X Sunshine
🥧The BEST Secondary Characters (Sisters)
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is a fade-to-black romance, so if you are looking for a slow burn with insane chemistry, some intense smooching and a LOT of sexual tension then definitely give this book a shot!
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rome, Kentucky is the perfect place for someone to live a quiet life for a while. That’s exactly where burnt-out runaway pop sensation Rae Rose (Amelia) is heading when she gets into car trouble. In swoops small town pie shop owner Noah to save the day. After some convincing (that he won’t murder her) he invites her to stay temporarily in his guest room. But the more time they spend together the more attached they come, but what happens when Amelia needs to head back to her life in the public eye?
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The communication was *chefs kiss* they talk to each other like adults and that’s a massive green flag in my book. They play Scrabble like c’mon 🥺 For anyone who needs visuals, when Noah’s description was given I couldn’t stop picturing Liam Hemsworth (swoopy hair and bearded version) 😍

I had heard of Adams' previous work, The Cheat Sheet, because of its popularity on the Booktok side of TikTok, so I was excited to read her newest work! What I didn't realise was that Adams seems like a veteran in the romance novel game, and considering how much I enjoyed When in Rome I definitely want to give her other works a go.

The concept of this book sounded right up my street - I haven't seen Roman Holiday so I didn't feel precious towards this retelling of the story, but I am a fan of Hepburn's films and thought it sounded like a sweet and charming tale. The cheeky play on Rome as a location was great, I thought, especially as it satisfied my love of a small-town setting in a romance novel. The small town itself, as well as getting to see Amelia slowly come out of her shell and integrate herself more in the town, was really nice to read, and I thought all of the secondary characters were great. The little things like this, and the scene where Amelia watches Roman Holiday with Noah's sisters, really made it feel like an homage and a genuine appreciation for the film, which was nice to read.

Dual narratives aren't essential in a romance book in my opinion, but I always appreciate how it allows me to see the pace at which Amelia and Noah fell for each other, or at least allowed themselves to admit it internally, and just how hard they both battled against it. While slow burner romances aren't always my favourite, I really enjoyed the tension that got built up between Amelia and Noah, especially because they fought their feelings for so long. I also liked how it was Amelia who took on the role of the celebrity who crashes into an 'ordinary' person's life - I feel like the trope can easily turn into the 'boring' woman whose maternal instincts kick in to sort out some sort of badboy troublemaker, and while I do enjoy that, it was nice to see a slightly different take on this kind of story.

Noah as the rugged leading man felt like the perfect fit contrasting against Amelia's overwhelmingly sweet nature, especially when he let his jealousy and protectiveness take over! Seeing this side of him come out when Amelia was dealing with that whole twist at the end about her professional life was great, as was that storyline in general - it brought a bit more depth to the story alongside the romance and the more softer plot surrounding small-town life. Overall I really liked this and I will definitely be keeping my eye out for Adams' next work!

I really enjoyed this! A small town romance invaded by a celebrity who just needs to escape her life for a little bit. I loved the banter between the two love interests, both whom felt well developed and quite real. The side characters, while obviously often there for comedic relief, did feel a little bit TOO off at times (who hasn't heard of Audrey Hepburn?) But it was a lovely romance with a clear sense of direction, and a wonderful setting I would hope to see the author return to in the future!

Amelia wanted to escape her life, and as usual turns to Audrey. That is how she ends up in Rome, US, and meeting Noah. She is hiding out from real life and he has been hurt before, so do they have a chance at being together? Loved all Noah's sisters and hope they get their own books next!
A great read. Looking forward to more books from this author.

This small town love story follows a famous pop star who needs an escape and winds up in Rome, Kentucky, after being inspired by Roman Holiday. She winds up on the neighbourhood grump’s porch after her car breaks down and he puts her up. As feelings boil to the surface and a timer is placed on Amelia’s time in Rome, would she have a quick fling before leaving to go on tour or will she stick around to make a change?

The story of Amelia and Noah is the perfect read for autumn, as the cosy atmosphere of small town life and the pie shop make you feel warm and fuzzy. Both our main character and love interest have had their messy pasts and have issues that they needed to overcome. Amelia has been overly accommodating to all the events, appearances and tours her manager signs her up to, while Noah has stayed in this town and taken over his grandmother’s bakery after she could no longer work. They both have hesitations despite the growing attraction and tension between them.

I’ve read Sarah Adams pretty widely, and despite falling in love with The Cheat Sheet earlier this year, When In Rome has coveted its place in my favourites list. It’s such a fun, gentle and soothing story. It pokes fun at the tropes of grumpy/sunshine, and the premise of small-town living, with nosy neighbours, but also helps our main characters work through their issues together and communicate openly about their problems and come to a solution. It’s a pleasant depart from the miscommunication trope all too prevalent in romantic comedies.

This is the perfect autumnal read, I have no doubt I will be revisiting this book on cosy evenings in. I am very much excited about what Sarah Adams has coming up next and you can bet I’ll be first in line to read it!

I wanted to say a massive thank you to Isabelle Wilson and the Headline team for inviting me to get involved with this Blog tour and for sending me a final copy prior to publication. I also want to thank the team for approving me for a digital ARC on NetGalley prior to receiving a physical copy.

My parents introduced me to Roman Holiday when I was in my early teens, and it has remained a favourite movie to this day. So when I saw that Sarah Adams' most recent novel was inspired by this classic film, I couldn't wait to read it. In parallel with the film, burnt-out pop star and die-hard Hepburn fan Amelia runs away to Rome, Kentucky, where her car breaks in Noah's front garden.

I really enjoyed the small-town setting and the banter and chemistry between Amelia and Noah. A fabulous slow-burn romance, with a hilarious grumpy/sunshine dynamic.

Having read and adored The Cheat Sheet from
Sarah Adams I was so excited to be asked to be on Headline Eternal’s blog tour for When in Rome. When in Rome is an utter delight; I absolutely loved it. I’m also now very much looking forward to when Practice Makes Perfect comes out which will follow the MMCs sister Annie.

When in Rome is the story of Amelia Rose who has been left burned out from years of maintaining her career and public image as international pop star Rae Rose. She decides to take a leaf out of Audrey Hepburn’s book and flee to Rome for a break. Only she heads to Rome, Kentucky. Here she meets Noah Walker, a kind but surly local who runs the local pie shop. As Amelia and Noah spend more time together they begin to learn more and more about each other, and their feelings begin to grow, but what happens when Amelia has to return to reality and her world tour?

When in Rome is a pure hug of a book. It’s small town cosy vibes are an absolute delight. You’ve got some grumpy/sunshine going on with wonderful banter. Two adults who actually communicate about their feelings, there’s no pesky miscommunication getting in the way here. Our MCs are also working through their own issues whilst also trying to be there for each other. And finally we have the most wonderful found family situation that goes beyond a few people and extends practically to the whole town! Ahhh I loved it.

Both Amelia and Noah were brilliant MCs. Their evolving friendship and growing feelings for one another was portrayed beautifully. This is a fades to black romance and it worked perfectly here. The chemistry and tension between the pair positively crackled on the pages. I love that Adams writes her romances in a way to be accessible for all.

The small town vibes were perfect as were the inhabitants. This is a town where everyone knows everyone- and their business! I loved Noah’s sisters and especially loved all of Mabel’s meddling.

This is a wonderful read - I can’t recommend it enough.

There’s something about Sarah Adams’ books that makes me never want to put them down, and When in Rome was no different!

Amelia Rose, or more well known as pop Princess Rae Rose, is burned out after years of being in the starlight. So inspired by her her favourite film, Roman Holiday, she drives off to the nearest Rome she can find…Eome, Kentucky. She soon finds herself in her car, broken down in Noah Walker’s front garden. Noah, local pie shop owner kindly offers his guest room as a place to stay on a short term basis, even though he’s super busy and is not looking for anyone new in his life. But as they spend days together, they see a new side of each other, and Amelia finds that she’s falling for this lovely small town that she’s ended up in…and her grumpy tour guide isn’t too bad either!

Oh Amelia and Noah 😍 honestly I just love them. I always fall for Sarah’s characters, there’s something about the way that she writes them that makes them always leave a little footprint in your heart, and Noah definitely did that in this one.

This book has it all, grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, the cutest small town setting, slow burn, celebrity romance, banter, amazing side characters (I mean those Walker sisters? 👏🏼), heartbreaking beautiful back stories, tension, drama, secrets, the lot! I laughed, I cried, I smiled, and I wanted to move to Rome, Kentucky 😂

It’s such a heartwarming, cannot stop reading, romantic story and that will just fill your heart…and add another book boyfriend to your list 😏

Amelia is a pop star on the verge of burning out, so she decides to emulate Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday and run away from everything to spend some time in Rome. Rome, Kentucky. Where she meets handsome-but-closed-off Noah, who might be just what she needed to get herself back on track.

This is definitely a slow burn romance, and unfortunately it was a bit too slow burn for me. I found myself skimming a lot because I was bored and it felt like everything was taking too long. The ending was satisfying, it just took a while to get there!

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I devoured this book in one day, simply unable to put it down. This was a perfect romance novel in my eyes; loveable main characters, brilliant and charismatic family and friends and a small-town romance.

I really enjoyed the plot and found lots of humorous moments. And of course there is plenty of love and romance!

I received an electronic advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to Sarah Adams and Headline for allowing me to read When in Rome before it’s release!

While this book had an admittedly slow start and I almost gave up on it, I am so glad that I pushed past the initial uncertainty and continued with this!

Noah is your typical grumpy MC; hiding a wealth of development behind his rough exterior.

In comparison, Amelia appears to be the typical Sunshine character, perfect to compliment Noah. A world famous pop sensation, when life gets a bit too much she finds herself in Rome; the quaint town Noah calls home. But beneath her sunny disposition Amelia is struggling; feeling lost and alone in a world full of people who only care about appearances.

I loved the fact Noah works in a pie shop, anything baking related is instantly going to pique my interest and this was no different. I loved Noah’s sisters, and I really resonated with his experiences around his grandmother.

Okay so firstly, LOOK AT THE COVER😍 stunning. This was actually my first book by @authorsarahadams and I really enjoyed it. I sped through it pretty quickly. It's got some of my fave tropes - grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity and small town romance! The story is told from dual POV of Noah and Amelia who I absoloutly love. We all know what they say about fictional men written by women don't we? The best type of men. Point proven in this book. I also love the other characters who pop up in the story such as Mabel and Noah's sisters Emily, Maddison and Annie. One of the things I love most about small town romances is the strong sense of community and this book is a good example of that. Although this comes with the odd nosey meddling neighbour but sometimes people need a bit of a push in the right direction to see what they're choosing to ignore don't they? I could go on about all the things I loved about Amelia and Noah but I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just leave it at - romance lovers, you need this book if not only for the fact it's a good one but again, look at that cover!

I have already posted this review (without the out tomorrow part) to Goodreads and Waterstones, links included below. I will post my review to my Instagram as well as sharing my thoughts on TikTok (both accounts under @happyheartlifestyle) on the 19th as part of my tour stop.

AD/Review: Thank you @headlineeternal for sending me an ARC of When in Rome by @authorsarahadams 📖 Out TOMORROW! (20th September)

When in Rome is the kind of book that feels like a warm hug from a dear friend. I had so much fun reading this book and found myself grinning as I went along, as well as chaotically highlighting all of my favourite lines.

The slow burn was strong with this couple. The relationship between Amelia and Noah gave me Lorelai and Luke from Gilmore Girls energy and it was delightful. This was one of the most playful relationships I’ve read in a while, they were so much fun! There was also no miscommunication to be found! 🎉 While things may have been off to a rocky start with a few mixed signals floating about Noah and Amelia actually talk to each other like the adults they are and I was 100% here for that. Also I could not cope with the adorable nicknames my heart nearly burst.

I am a huge fan of Noah’s sisters! They brought much needed friendship into Amelia’s life and also allowed for us to see Noah being a lot more open even when he’s still guarding his heart from Amelia. A sequel with the youngest sister Annie as the main character has already been announced (complete with the reveal of the adorable cover) and I’m already excited even though it’s not out until May next year. That’s how invested I am in the whole family.

This review wouldn’t be complete without giving side character Mabel an honourable mention. Best friends with Noah’s grandmother Mabel was a large part of Noah’s and his siblings’ childhood and she still takes an active (Noah would say too active) interest in their lives. Mabel is the perfect mix of meddling busy body, loving found family member, and no nonsense taskmaster.

I was nervous about this in the first few pages but it was actually a really fantastic read. Quite a typical premise - celebrity singer falls for local boy - but done in an incredibly enjoyable way. Noah definitely has man written by a woman energy and I'm good with that, total grump with a heart of gold. I found myself properly rooting for these two, against all the odds (and all rationality). A good, read in one sitting kind of romance.

I loved this book! It follows Amelia, a popstar who needs a break, and Noah, a pie shop owner in a small town. The chemistry between Amelia and Noah was so good and the angst and build up was worth it! I loved that Noah helped Amelia to find her voice and stand up for herself, and Amelia helped Noah to open up about his feelings and worries.

The supporting characters were also great and I loved the small town setting and close knit family of the book. I'm definitely looking forward to reading about more of the characters!
