This was another fun and educational addition to the series! I loved learning about Mae Jamison who I'd previously not heard of, and found her to be really inspiring. I think this book did a particularly good job of capturing the magic of dreams becoming a reality, and showing young readers how this is absolutely possible. I'd particularly recommend it to read with young girls, although my little brother also really enjoyed this one!

Sanchez Vegara continues to introduce young readers to people who overcome obstacles and believe in themselves and their dreams. From a young age, Mae Jemison wanted to be a scientist. Based on several events, she decided to try for being an astronaut. The illustration showing her inside the Endeavor is a powerful image for this generation. It emphasizes that we can follow dreams and work to achieve them.
I appreciate the vocabulary words shared and defined throughout the story. The timeline at the end offers further information on Jemison's life.

I am such a fan of Little People, BIG DREAMS, I cannot stop raving about it to everyone. Mae Jemison, a perfect time to have received this book for a review from NetGalley since we are getting ready to see the Artemis I. This was a great book I shared with my child in preparation for the launch (although it's been pushed back twice) it was great learning how a little girl, Mae Jemison, knew in her heart what she wanted to do and stuck with it!
Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is a fairy godmother to all young children giving them the tools to believe in themselves to make a profession out of what they truly love and enjoy. Inspiring as always. I cannot wait to see who will be the next Little People, BIG DREAMS we read about.

The best book for my child, who wants to go play on the moon.. Plus, just in time for science class as she use what she learn from reading the best space book, in her 6 years old words.

I have been a long time fan of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series! I’ve bought several already and read them with my nephew. I was thrilled to share this one with him as well.

This particular book details the life of Mae Jemison, the first African American woman in space! While I was aware of Jemison’s remarkable achievement in the NASA astronaut program, I was delighted to learn of her path to becoming an astronaut.

I had had no idea that she had gone to college at 16, and was in medical school by the age of 20. She also worked as a doctor for the Peace Corps traveling to numerous countries.

I absolutely loved the gorgeous and bright colors of the illustrations. And I also greatly appreciated the inclusion of a brief timeline at the end of the book with photos of Mae Jemison over the course of her life.

Jemison’s story of persistence, hard work, and dedication will be inspiring to any child (or adult even) reading this story.

This is another great offering in the 'Little People BIG DREAMS' series! The illustrations are beautifully colored & drawn, & there is quite a story told of Mae Jemison's life to becoming an astronaut. This would be fun to read to/share with a little one, & this adult reading it.....learned something! All presented so that children can understand, have fun & enjoy it. I can recommend this to everyone!

This series of factual picture books about fascinating people throughout history never fails to impress and delight me! The illustrations are always wonderfully engaging and the text is perfectly pictched for shared reading with children aged 6+ These books are an excellent way to introduce young children to important historical figures and inspire them to pursue their own dreams just like the people featured in the collection.
This specifc edition offers a child friendly summary of the life of Mae Jemison, the first black women in space. I knew nothing about this amazing, determined woman before picking up this book and I cannot wait to share this with my pupils!

Another awesome person I’d never heard of before this book - I really do love how they introduce you to people you don’t know. I cannot believe how incredible she is - college at 16! - and how hard working and talented she is; very admirable traits for the children to hear about while reading. I was also glad to see the prejudice of the time was included and not just glossed over as this book is aimed at children.

I've really enjoyed the series "Little People, Big Dreams" in the past, and this new addition telling the story of Mae Jemison is no exception.  I found this book very empowering for young children who have big aspirations (like my own child who wants to be an astronaut).

This book was fun and colorful to read and it told the story of Mae in such a fun and engaging way!  My kids are big fans of space and astronauts, so we were very excited to read this!  We are also Star Trek fans, so seeing a few references to Star Trek was fun!

This is a great children's biography to add to your bookshelf.  I am looking forward to reading more in the series!

A great addition to the brilliant Little People, Big Dreams collection.
Inspiring children (and adults) to follow their dreams even if people tell you they are unachievable.

I absolutely adore the Little People, Big Dreams series and this book, focusing on Mae Jemison, did not disappoint. Filled with glorious illustrations, these texts are a fabulous springboard for classroom discussion. I love how they cover such a broad range of famous faces, from scientists to musicians.

The first thing to strike me about the book on Mae Jemison were the glorious illustrations - the vibrant colours, patterns and images leapt off the page immediately grabbing the readers’ attention. They beautifully reflect Mae’s position as a dreamer who refused to be bound by others’ limitations.

The story itself is an inspirational read. It gives details on Mae’s upbringing and her achievements, whilst also outlining the barriers she faced to become the first woman of colour to travel into space. I love the quote from her on the final page - ‘never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations’.

I will be using this book as part of our Earth & Space topic in Year 5 and think it would be a welcome addition to any school bookshelf. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was the first "Little People, Big Dreams" book I have read, and I thought it was fabulous! Mae Jemison, as a little girl, had a fascination with space, but realised no one that looked like her had ever travelled there. Could she be the first?

Beautiful illustrations, perfect to attract children, with just enough informative text to capture imaginations. I liked the factual section at the end, to give children further research opportunities if they wish. I'll definitely be looking out for more of this series in future!

Mae Jemison is an incredibly talented human! She's not only the first black woman to travel into space but also a physician who served in Thailand, Cuba, Liberia and Sierra Leone as a member of Peace Corps. Since childhood, she dreamed of going to space and worked incessantly to reach her goal. Her determination and dedication paid off as she made history, inspiring thousands of space enthusiasts across the world. Her life was well summarised and the language was easy and captivating. The illustrations were gorgeous as well. Another great work by Maria and her team. Recommended!

I love this series, as soon as I see a new book is released I have to grab a copy!

This is another brilliant addition to this series – even as an adult I look out for the next book in the series being released and now my daughter is 5 and can read herself I love that we can read the books together and she just loves finding out about the people chosen in the series.

The books are an excellent introductions to some of the well-known, and less well-known, characters that have had a great impact in our lives through a variety of subjects such as literature, women’s rights and science.

This book features Mae Jemison who was the first black woman in space. My daughter is space mad by the time this review is published on my blog we will have just come back from another visit to the National Space Centre in the UK - so needless to say and not unexpected she thought this book was brilliant!

Mae is an inspiration to me and her story should be shared with children to show what she managed to achieve - she is a fabulous role model. It is 5 stars from me for this one – a delightful read and one I will be very highly recommending!!

My son loves the little people big World Series so I was excited to read this one. I thought Mae’s story was great and love the representation of a black female astronaut in this collection. The quotes on the last page are always my favorite and this one was a good one!

I'll never stop recommending the Little People, Big Dreams books. I was never really into space when I was younger and had not heard of Mae Jemison prior to reading this book. She is an extraordinary women who literally reached for the stars! Highly recommend this book as well as any of the others from the Little People, Big Dreams series.

I love these books! I've read many of them and the illustrations are always beautiful. The story is to the point but entertaining and I love how there's a timeline at the end in more sophisticated language. There's so much that can be done with these stories in a home and educational setting and the representation is amazing.
