For me, this wasn't nearly as good as the full books so far in this series. I didn't feel as gripped or as excited by it and got a little bored at times which is a shame as I love the full length books. I think I will stick to the full novels and leave the novellas from now on.
This was a fun, almost cozy mystery, short story that features Ms. Ridley’s Wynchester series family (if you’re reading the series - although Nobody’s Princess published first, this one takes place directly before).
I always enjoy Erica’s new releases and am so pleased to have had the opportunity to read an early copy and I am absolutely looking forward to reading more of this Wynchester-adjacent series in the future!
Recommended for Wynchester fans and cozy heist fans (is cozy heist a thing?).

Another awesome Erica Ridley book. It didn’t disappoint
Another enjoyable regency caper by Erica Ridley! This one picks up where things left off with the heist club, yet can be read as a stand alone, as there isn’t much general progression with the characters apart from the mystery. I enjoyed the mystery side of things, and was only disappointed that there wasn’t more development of our characters lives like romance etc
This novella of the Heist club -which is definitely not called The Heist Club, but definitely is- is set between the Erica Ridley's The Perks of Loving a Wallflower and Nobody's Princess within the Wild Wynchesters Universe, but can be read without having read either of these novels.
Sibyl Stamper is a list-o-holic; she loves making lists about everything. She's also not very well off and hence loves to help people with low finances by curating small libraries housed in London shops. On one of her restocking missions to such a library she meets the modiste about town whose services she cannot afford. Still, they bond over books. When shortly after their meeting the whole collection of original dresses of this modiste is stolen, Sibyl wows she'll find the culprit and the gowns in time for the next big ball.
Having a few possible suspects in mind, Sibyl and the Heist Club try their very best at finding the gowns, which proves more difficult than they thought.
Can't wait to find out what the club gets up to next.
Thank you NetGalley for providing this ARC
Sybil Stamper is the least fortunate member of The Heist Club, a book club that occasionally endulges in righting wrongs with the help of the Wynchesters.
Sybil, Queen of Lists, dreams of fitting into London society. She wants to be the Belle of the Ball instead of a wallflower, at least for one night. But when the 25 newest designs of the most renowned Modiste are stolen, she sets out to find the dresses and return them, even if it might mean she will not be the diamond of the next ball.
I enjoyed Sybil as MC, she is smart, compassionate and has a good sense for justice. Wanting to fit into a world that she isn't really a part of makes her relatable for a lot of readers.
The other characters were less fleshed out in this one, but I assume that is because this is "The Wild Wynchesters 2.5", of which I have not read any books yet except this one. But even without prior knowledge, this book was a delight to read.
My only (small) critique would be that the character of Elizabeth seemed a little overdone to me.
Overall this was a very enjoyable quick read that I would recommend to anyone who likes books set in the regency period.
This is a very funny story that begins with a mystery.
Miss Sybil Stamper is the least fancy member of the reading circle known as The Heist Club. To her friends, bespectacled Sybil is the Queen of Lists, but she’d rather be belle of the ball. When she finally acquires an evening gown, her life looks like it’s falling into place. But when a client’s valuable objects go missing, not only is Sybil’s happy ending in jeopardy—so are the futures of other young ladies just like her!
With the help of the Wild Wynchesters—a uniquely talented family of caper-committing siblings who don’t let “laws” stop them from righting wrongs—Sybil and her club of delightfully bookish spinsters take on the heist of the Season.
The Heist Club is a club that solves mysteries.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
