ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher for my honest review and opinion. Cam and Faith's story is a story about working hard to find acceptance in their family. It is also about fixing past mistakes made in a moment of despair. Faith must learn to trust while Cameron must learn to move past the pain that Faith put him through when they lost their baby.
I totally adored this book. As a heavy romance reader, I always look for stories that are a little different, otherwise there is too much of the same. This book was beautiful and the storyline was so on point.
I love the cop and stuntman combination. I love the fact that the FMC was the hardcore cop. I loved how the characters were together, lost each other and then found each other again. And most of all, I love that it started off with the males perspective, but still also switched between them.
I don't read alot of books in third person, I prefer a first person narrative but this book had me hardly noticing it at all.
I loved this couple - Cameron(Cam) and Faith both touched my heart - even if I wanted to kick them both a few times. Their story has angst, misunderstanding, secrets, wonderful friends and family and some awful family too, laughter, tears, and plenty of steam to get us to a fantastic HEA.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Great world building Entertaining Action-packed Unpredictable Funny Steamy Tear-jerker Page-turner Informative Easy-to-read Romantic Wonderful characters Happily Ever After. I enjoyed reading and reviewing this book.
Skye Jordan is a talented author
Cam and Faith story was a angst and bitter sweet story
There is back and forward between them and drama serious life wrecking issues
She is dramatically immature
He is too good to be true
There is a cute HEA
Nice not life changing but nice
3 stars thanks NetGalley galley for the ARC
Loved!
4/5 stars!
A second chance romance, 3rd person pov, each paragraph does alternate between following the fmc and the mmc.
What they go through from the start absolutely broke my heart. From being apart to 'bumping' into each other through work set up by a mutual was just needed. Neither of them dealt with their past and they finally had to face it head on. I'm so glad they actually worked through their problems unlike some second chance romances.
This book had me believing in soul mates and right person wrong time. They both worked on themselves to be together and it was just amazing!
Spice was 2.5/5 which I wasn't expecting. Now to read the other books in the series!
I have to admit that I did not enjoy this, to the point where I skim read quite a bit. It really is a matter of personal preferences, so I'll just explain what didn't work for me.
In terms of characterisation, Faith and Cam felt very one-dimensional. They were stock, cardboard characters to me, and I couldn't connect with them on any kind of basic level. There were certain scenarios where they did things I would never have done, which I think put a larger distance between me and trying to understand them. I wish there was more about their time together beforehand, more showing rather than telling.
I also feel I was supposed to feel a lot more of the emotion and tension between them, but the chemistry just didn't exist - again, perhaps because I didn't see more of their time together beforehand. Had I seen the way they were together instead of everyone just saying they were great, I think I could've gotten more on board. It was almost like I was being told: "here's a moment with a lot of tension, you're meant to feel emotion", but the tension just wasn't jumping out of the page for me.
Conceptually, I think this had a lot more to offer in terms of the danger and the angst and the high stakes but, for me, it just didn't deliver in its execution.
Jordan has done it again. Ruin is an overwhelming mixture of heartache, romance and courage. Cameron and Faith give emotions quite the beating. With unpredictable chemistry, irresistible romance and a heart tingling story, Skye Jordan takes heart breaker to the next level.
I absolutely loved this book and quickly bought into the characters. I will definitely be reading as many Skye Jordan novels as I can. I loved everything about the storyline and the way it was written pulled my minds eye into it as if I was watching a film.
A really well written romance full of brilliant characters and a great storyline. It was a little slow to fully grab my attention but the story developed really well and the author delivered yet another great emotional story. I loved the epilogue! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for giving me access to this great read.
Loved Faith and Cameron.....What a perfect romance with twist and turns. My heart was in knots throughout and I loved every second of it. Can't wait to read more!!
I have heard such good things about this series, and I know it is well loved. For me, perhaps the major struggle/conflict between these two is a topic that I find difficult, and I suppose that foundation running through made this book not great for me personally. It is clear that Cam and Faith have not gotten over each other, and there is a lot of lusting internally after one another. Lots of discussion of small (female) waists and chiseled (male) muscles. I guess I have moved on from this type of romance stereotype, although I understand the appeal. It's a second chance romance, but really, they are still growing together and haven't done that much growing separately before coming back together. I really did not enjoy how this book wrapped up, but won't say more as to not spoil it! For me their conflict just needed adult talking and discussion, instead of how they have dealt with the issue. Cam is sweet, caring, protective, but also quite temperamental. Faith is strong and stubborn but also hurt and working through some issues. If you like second chance romance and the exciting story of the stuntmen Renegades, this may be the book for you. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to give my honest review.
This so so far beyond your typical second chance. Trust me. It would appear there’s no real moving on without closure. And there’s no closure because the hearts still beat for just one other person. So when Cam and Faith are face to face again, and WORKING together at that, they have to clear the air and decide what’s worth the risk and what isn’t. She’s got secrets. He’s got one or two himself. She’s got stubborn control issues. He’s got a temper. And yet, maybe they can make it work this time around.
You truly don’t have to read the other books in this series to know what’s going on here, and I truly like that. Witnessing Faith find herself and find her true desires in life is a thing of beauty, especially when it means some epic takedowns of people who deserve all she has to say. And while both she and Cam frustrated me at times, I got it. They’re both working through the past and trying to find their way to a future together, and they learn better methods of working through issues and communicating along the way. I especially loved that we have no truly immature deeds here. Not even when there’s opportunity. We have hearts trying to mend and find their way to the one they love, which makes for an excellent story.
Steamy yet sweet…. Not something you often get together but the romance being rekindled was certainly steamy. The romance that started it all was the sweet. The plot certainly was more serious and of more depth than I expected and certainly more than the cover insinuated.
Cam and Faith were in a relationship and madly in love but a tragedy ripped them apart. Fast forward 18months later, Cam is a stuntman with the Renegades and Faith has been called in as a police consultant for the same movie. They are now stuck working together on the same set-will this 2nd chance bring them together or push them further apart ?
This is a captivating read. The intensity of the emotions just pull you in and keep you hooked. Cam and Faith are perfect together, but there are hurdles they need to overcome to be together. You can feel their love even when they are off, in their on again off again relationship. I also enjoyed catching up with previous renegade characters and meeting new ones.
This book will make you cry because the characters will become part of you. This book had me at the first page and I couldn’t put I down til the end. You will be rooting for so many things to happen in this book, as you get to know the characters. This book is an absolute home run and can’t wait to read the next one! I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review,
I love the Renegade series. !! This story was no exception. Very well written. I love the author and all the books that I read that she writes.
The characters were intriguing and I loved their story The happy ending always makes me smile
Skye Jordan brings us the story of Cam and Faith. Their story begins when Faith is caught in the line of fire and Cam rushes to be by her side only to have tragedy rip them apart. We then find Cam working with the Renegades after leaving the fire department and all that reminded him of his time with Faith. Luck or a good friend find them working together as the Renegades bring Faith in to help with their stunt work. The past comes rushing back with all the hurt and betrayal that came with it and never resolved. Will Cam and Faith be able to put it aside and work together, or will it get in the way of their healing? Will they get the chance to resolve everything they were not able to work through the first time, or will they keep sabotaging their future?
Skye Jordan brings us back into the world of the Renegades and we get to see what the other characters are up to as if we were visiting old friends. As we learn about Cam and Faith and what they have gone through with and without each other, we keep wanting to see what happens next and if they can get past their own hurts and sense of morality to be able to see the other person. I look forward to seeing what else happens with the Renegades and their extended family.
I have read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Author Collective 20 for this privilege.
Fast paced story with great links to the ‘then and now’ part of the story. Both Cam and Faith are strong and endearing characters and the interaction with their families is true and emotional. The backdrop of the police force and what happens on the street as well as the world of stunts is well described and you really see yourself in the middle of this environment,
Cameron and Faith were in relationship and so in love but threw a tragedy Faith broke up with Camern and shattered his heart. Cameron joins the renegades thinking that it will be a pit stop towards his next career not realizing that he loves what he is doing and that these guys have become his family. In the next movie they are in they need a police officer as a consultant and here comes Faith, not realizing that that is where Cameron is working, and she is still in love with him, but as they try very minimally to resist, they are still heartbroken, and have to deal with some issues in order to be able to make it work.
Ruin by Skye Jordan
A second chance romance between Can and Faith he’s former military who now works in the Fire Dept and Faith’s a cop when she is shot on duty she decides when recovering from her surgery she wants to end their year long relationship. Cam is devastated and leaves his job and ends up becoming a stuntman and has discovered he loves the job and being part of the Renegades team. A new film consultant from LAPD arrives and it’s Faith. This is a big shock for Cam after so many months apart he sees Faith teach the female stunt doubles how they should act as a real female law enforcement officer.
A great story following both characters and how they work through their emotions after their abrupt breakup. That neither of them really wanted but have to deal with the injuries Faith has suffered from the gun shot.
A fabulous read from Syke Jordan
