This novella was a delight! Set before book 2 of the Wild Wynchesters series, it's a caper involving a rake and a lost hairpin with the Wynchesters on the case and Phillipa joining in. If you've read The Perks of Loving A Wallflower it's especially fun to see some of these early interactions. And the Wynchester siblings are all a joy to read. I love the idea of these mini-adventures set with the same characters and can't wait for more in the series! Rompy historical romance with a diverse cast of characters is at its best in this series. I received a copy for review via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.
This book was okay. When I began reading it, I enjoyed it but once I got further along I had to force myself to sit down and continue. I never gravitated towards it, I didn’t care for the storyline or the characters that much that I needed to know what happened immediately. I’m not sure if it was the characters or the writing that made it hard for me to want to read. I just don’t see this book as necessary.
This was a entertaining novella. Quirky and spunky characters. I laughed out loud. . Just what I needed
Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion
Wonderfully quirky, witty and laugh out loud fun adventure. This romantic journey is filled with sweetly endearing charters, picturesque countryside and undeniable passion.... really enjoyed reading this!
New Friendships and a Fun Adventure
What a fun hilarious story, an action packed regency adventure with lots of twists and turns. I loved the characters of the Wild Wynchesters and that as a family they all stood together to solve any mystery and problems that came their way.
This story introduces Thomasina Wynchester and Philippa York, there is no specific romance apart from the one that needed fixing.
Philippa’s mother is unhappy she ended her relationship with a Duke and wants her to find a husband but Philippa only wants to read her precious collection of books and have her Thursday ladies meeting. Meanwhile she and the ladies who attend her meeting get involved in the latest Wynchester mystery and try to help out.
I loved the character of Great Aunt Wynchester and how she and Philippa got on famously. I cannot wait for Philippa and Tommy’s story. The story left me wanting more and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Whilst I enjoyed this book and the premise behind it I struggled to follow the plot, maybe because it wasn’t sufficiently in-depth being a short story
3 Stars
For me, this wasn't nearly as good as the full books so far in this series. I didn't feel as gripped or as excited by it and got a little bored at times which is a shame as I love the full length books. I think I will stick to the full novels and leave the novellas from now on.
Another enjoyable regency caper by Erica Ridley! This book is the first in a series able the heist club, yet can be read as a stand alone, as there isn’t much general progression with the characters apart from the mystery. I enjoyed the mystery side of things, and was only disappointed that there wasn’t more development of our characters lives like romance etc
Philippa lives for her Thursday book group, the only real freedom she feels in her life. The group is already in place when Gracie arrives with the news that instead of getting a kiss from the rake, some jewellery was stolen. Here starts a madcap tale of the group's efforts to recover the jewellery, with the help of the Wild Wynchesters. This is a short book, taking only a couple of hours to read and it moves so fast that you almost forget where you are at times. I've not read any of the Wild Wynchesters before but it's not really necessary. To top it off, it's both funny and fun.
Overall I give this 3.5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and Webmotion for the advanced reader copy. I am providing this review voluntarily.
