This was a good domestic thriller with Janie struggling with the demands of new parenthood when her partner Max suddenly disappears without a word. His family and friend aren’t concerned by this until the police turn up demanding to know where he is as he’s been linked to a murder. There’s a lot of focus on Janie’s struggles in this which do detract a little from the disappearance, it’s not fast paced but there’s still plenty of suspense and questions and it’s a good writing style storyline which kept me engrossed throughout.
I was a bit disappointed with this book, it took me a while to get into the storyline and the characters lacked something for me. It wasn't an edge of seater read and I was disappointed with the ending.
Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin (M.J.) for this ARC.
A pretty quick and easy read to be honest. There's no real big jaw dropping moments but it's still well written and maybe for someone who hasn't read a lot of domestic noir/ thrillers before then it'd be a bit more appreciated. N although it's not reinventing the wheel it's still an interesting enough story to pass the time
This book was no different from many others in the same category. It had no gripping twists and was rather predictable. It is well written though.
Thanks to netgalley for my arc in exchange for an honest review.
I didnt know what to make of this book as the storyline seemed to be good but the constant breastfeeding seemed unnecessary.
The ending seemed rushed instead of learning some of the twists as the book went along.
3 stars
entertaining but the ending was very meh and rushed
There is no big whodunnit, it is pretty predictable and Janie seems way too naive
