I really tried to like this book but I just couldn't. Main characters were annoying and lacked chemistry. The author tried to be funny, but I just ended up cringing at the attempts at humour. Maybe I've overdone the witchy rom com but it just wasn't cute.

A fab spooky read! This is such a fun book and a highlight for me Is of course Sir Purrcival. He is hilarious and exactly what I would believe a talking cat to be like!
I loved catching up with Rhys and Vivi, and there was a great cast of supporting characters that really added to the story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely adore this series. I picked The Ex Hex up earlier this year and just fell in love with the town and all of the characters so I just had to try this second one.

This is technically a companion book as it follows a different main character but it's till sett after the first so you could do with reading them in order.

The love interest was adorable and I really want more books in this series!

Sometimes competition can be healthy, though it does not seem that way when a rival magic shop opens up across form Gwyn's shop.
A light-hearted fantasy with a good sprinkle of cosy romance. Perfect for darker nights, this witchy read is both enjoyable and fun.

I absolutely loved The Ex Hex so when I saw this one up for grabs I had to get it. This one does not disappoint either. We follow Gwyn and Wells in this funny witchy slightly smutty sequel. And the pair make the story for me! It’s another enemies to lovers but it’s done in such a funny and real way that it keeps you gripped from the start. I love Erin Sterling’s writing style and I can’t wait to read more from her

3.5 stars
Even though the first book in this series has been on my TBR list for a while, I was really excited to give this a read first as it sounded like the perfect book to get me in the Halloween mood this October.
And you can definitely read this as a stand alone, even if you haven't read the first book.
But sadly this was just okay and didn't blow me away or impress me too much.
It really reads like a YA novel, instead of adult fiction, which was a little bit off putting for me. It felt very Sabrina The Teenage Witch, in a way, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but not what I was expecting when I picked this up.
It also felt like it dragged quite a bit, in terms of pacing, which meant that I didn't feel compelled to urgently pick this up whenever I had a free moment.
I did still enjoy it and would recommend it to those looking for a witchy Halloween read but in terms of being something that I would want to read the other eleven months of the year, I'm not so sure.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Although this is published as a Romance, it felt more Fantasy than Romance.

The romance side of the story felt very drawn out.

The plus side was the Fantasy.

If you like Witches then this definitely could be for you.

I read The Ex Hex, the first book in the series, last year and I was so excited when Net Galley provided me the proof copy of the 2nd book to read! (Although it was released by time I got round to reading it!😅)

This is a fun rom/com mixed with lots of magical and witchy factors. It involves competing magic shops, spells, witchery and a bit of black magic in the town of Gravesglen. Having already experienced the town, I was excited to head back to see what new trouble awaited. It follows on from the first book but in the sister Gwyn’s POV instead of Vivi which I really enjoyed.

The story is a little steamy in places. Definitely a good smutty addition without actually taking away from any of the storyline. It was a perfect mix of romance and adventure. The built relationship between Gwyn and Wells was so good to read!

It’s the perfect little Halloweeny/ autumnal read and I would definitely recommend for a lighthearted, cosy read! 🧙‍♀️

The Kiss Curse is the second in the series following the hugely successful The Ex Hex. I read the two books back to back in October in an attempt to feel Halloween Festive. I have to say I think I preferred The Kiss Curse. The scene had been set in The Ex Hex and the characters established meaning the second book in the series could focus on the plot which was enjoyable. I like sequels that focus on minor characters from a book before but still give tip bits of information on previous, much loved characters. In this case The Kiss Curse revolves around Gwyn and Wells who are both interesting characters and Sir Percival is back (and still the star of the show). Like the first the book is a fun and enjoyable modern witchy read. I thought the story flowed better in the sequel and although I think the series is over-hyped it is everything you'd hope the sequel would be.

I’ve got very conflicting feelings about this book. I enjoyed The Ex Hex, but as a Welsh person who sees little to no reference to my culture in books, I was disheartened at some of the inaccuracies when it came to the Welsh references. My issue mainly was with ‘Lywelyn’ which I suppose is a take on the historically Welsh name ‘Llywelyn’ but it’s never spelt with one L at the start, a double ‘LL’ in Welsh is classified as one letter in our alphabet and it’s pronounced very specifically so removing this letter and replacing it with one ‘L’ significantly changed the pronunciation of the Welsh name. Alas I enjoyed the story, so decided I would read the sequel and see if the references toward Welsh culture improved…. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator’s version of a Welsh accent is an Irish accent.
Story was good, enjoyed the plot, but as a Welsh person, the Welsh references missed massively. Would’ve taken one Welsh beta reader to point out the name was misspelt and that audio pronunciations of Welsh words was wrong… oh and also that there’s quite a difference between a Welsh accent and an Irish accent.

The perfect follow up to The Ex Hex. Stirling takes us back to Grave’s Glen in this autumnal, cosy romcom full of magic, charm and spice! I utterly adored the this entire book and had so much fun! It’s a cosy and humorous read with the perfect autumn aesthetic. Full of witchiness, with a sprinkling of enemies to lovers and a sumptuous grumpy meet sunshine romance!

I didn't know what I was in the mood to read and this was a good choice for the in-between vibes I was feeling - not in the mood for something literary and heavy, but also not in the mood for a totally realistic read, something 'fantasy-very-very-lite' with cosy vibes ended up being a solid choice for a rainy night in.

I haven't read book one but didn't find it hard to follow along with this story of a magical town, a back round plot of magical mischief and a main plot of enemies to lovers who run rival witch themed stores.

Was this a deep and meaningful work of world importance? No, but it was a relatively harmless way to spend a few hours.

I liked Gwyn, I liked Wells and their story was a pleasant enough diversion. I would pick up book one at some point and I wonder if there's more coming in the series, with a story for the Werewolf brother seeming to be hinted at in this one.

Thank you to @netgalley for the ARC. The Kiss Curse is the 2nd in The Ex Hex series. This was the perfect book to kick off the spooky season with. A fun rom-com, this book feels like you’re reading an episode of Sabrina. Of the two books in the series, I think I preferred this one. Gwyn is such a fun character, and I was glad to see her have her own moment to shine.

Whilst this a cute, cosy read, and perfect for autumn, I did feel the ending was rushed and was a little disappointed with how things were resolved.

This was a really cosy read for Halloween. I read The Ex Hex a few weeks before and loved it. The Kiss Curse is a fun follow up, keeping with the same town and characters but focusing more on Gwyn this time. I think I actually preferred The Kiss Curse to The Ex Hex, as Gwyn's quips often had me laughing and I loved the dynamic between her and Wells. Really hoping there will be a third book in time for next Halloween!

I wasn’t expecting this to be so YA. It was also very similar to the first book. It’s an easy enough read but it doesn’t blow you away.

The Kiss Curse is a fun second outing in this series - Gwyn was great in the first book so lovely to see her as a protagonist in this one
The small town business rivals sets up a great story arc.

I adored The Ex Hex, so when I saw this book I had to read it. It follows on from The Ex Hex in settings and some characters but by no means do you need to have read the first book before reading this. I loved the sassiness of Gwyn and the moodiness of Wells. I was rooting for them from the start and the friends to lovers troupe was written so well. This book was a real cozy comfort, perfectly timed for Halloween.

What a great sequel!! I really enjoyed the ex hex but this one was even better in my opinion! I was so excited for Gwyn’s story and it did not disappoint. I love rivals to lovers and this one was so well done. Their banter was so funny and made me laugh out loud so many times. I read most of the book with a big grin on my face and loved how the plot developed. The steamy scenes were well done and fun to read, and Wells… what a man! I adored him so much. Such a great book and definitely recommend!

Absolutely loved this, it was just as good as the Ex Hex. The Kiss Curse is so funny, Erin is just fantastic at writing witty banter and one liners that it comes across so natural. It's common to read this sort of dialogue and feel like it's forced but that's not the case for Erin Sterling. Brilliant and so charming.

She also writes wonderful characters, they were all so interesting and quirky, and her writing is effortlessly easy to read.

Also, a special shoutout to Sir Purrcival for, well, just being Sir Purrcival.

I'm hoping there's a third book for the last Penhallow brother because I'd absolutely read it. Recommending the series to everyone, as always!
