It was okay. Quick paced and action packed, could have done with more character development - but good none the less. Perfect for a YA audience

The Dragoneer and the Pretender follows Moira and her dragon Zephyr journey to his world to rescue her friends from the captain of the trolls, who is hell bent in capturing the Dragoneer.

Moira and Zephyr are an endearing combination. They share a bond as Dragon and Dragoneer. When their friends are kidnapped by the captain of the trolls the hastily cross dimensions to rescue them, and Moira's inexperience as a dragoneer quickly becomes apparent. Boudreau gives us a view of a very different world where dragons are respected members of the community and work alongside humans. But not everyone there is treated with respect. There's a lot going on, and they are quickly in the middle of it, while trying to get to their friends and rescue them before they come to harm. I will definitely be giving Pretender as a Xmas present this year.
