I felt this sorry was abit far fetched, the characters were under developed and even though I understand sometimes you have to suspend your belief and plausibly this was abit too crazy and wild!

This is one of the best thrillers I have read in a while. I really loved Amelie’s character. She started out young and vulnerable but grew into a really strong woman. I thought the pace and the suspense were spot on, it really kept me guessing right up to the end. I also liked that the ending was left slightly open.

This was a good read, the suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat. The twists and turns throughout this book that you don’t see coming were great. The characters were interesting, the plot was exciting and the style of writing was perfect. I enjoy reading the books by this author and can’t wait for the next one. I would recommend this to anyone who likes reading psychological thrillers.

There was far too much flicking back and forth, and I found this super confusing and jolting. I found it hard to grasp what was actually going on. Some chapters between the past and present ended so suddenly and it sounded like it cut the author off in the middle of saying something. There was no transition into the next chapter, and it pulled me out of the story on many occasions.

However, the writing style was great, and the pace was so quick I flew through the pages.

Amelie was an incredible character. I really admired her bravery and determination to escape her situation. Instead of giving up, she fought for her freedom, no matter how scared she felt. I was so intrigued by what had happened between her and Ned, and I loved the subtle dropping of hints and clues throughout the book.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher, for a chance to read and review this book.

I absolutely love B A Paris' writing. The stories are always a smidge far fetched, but it never stops me from lapping up her writing.
Very high levels of suspence, the writing is engaging, the customers are well rounded and interesting.
I also enjoyed the two timelines - it was well done, and didn't make the overall storyline too complicated.

Wowser! That was.....

... actually I have no words, I might be speechless...

....but can say I totally couldn't put it down from the first page until the last I was completely and utterly hooked.

Once again B. A. Paris has written a tense, compelling, highly addictive story that blew my mind.

Written in short chapters which added to the urgency of the story, we have alternating chapters from the past and present to see just what happened leading up to the present day.

And I loved Amelie, hse was so brave, so foolish, so determined that I needed to discover what a mess she had landed herself in.

And there are some very toxic characters in this that made my blood boil.

Claustrophobic at times, this is one hell of a story, and I read it in one sitting over the course of a couple of hours, I heartily recommend you carving out a block of time to read this uninterrupted too, as it is that good and will not let you go once it has a hold on you.

Thrilling and fabulous.

Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,

This book is well written and kept me turning the pages. I have enjoyed all of this authors books but the characters for me in this book were not very interesting.

I have read other books by this author and this was another great read. Not my favourite but it’s a good solid book with a good story and nicely written. It kept me in suspense in places but got a bit bored in others, and unbelievable in parts too.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC

The Prisoner opens with an unknown narrator detailing their plight.

Amelie Lamont was orphaned by the age of 16, and forced due to circumstances beyond her control to move to London and find her own way in life. Young as she was. she was determined to create her own path.

After a rocky start Amelie finds herself a good group of friends who take her under their wings and begin to nurture her and bring her out of her shell. Their lifestyle is unlike any she has known before.

It is via these friends that she first meets Ned Hawthorne, highly eligible (and wealthy) bachelor. At first she thinks nothing of their encounter, but as she is drawn more into her friends glamourous world, Ned puts to her an offer she simply can't refuse.

That split decision is the beginning of a nightmare for Amelie. She barely knows Ned, but is about to find out a lot more about him than she bargained for, what she discovers will put all of their lives in danger.

I don't want to say too much more, as I will risk giving something away...

One thing I enjoy about B.A. Paris' books is that they all have a slightly different feel to them, and usually a unique storyline.

I've read a fair few of this authors books now and usually they don't disappoint, and whilst I still enjoyed this one, for me it just wasn't as good as the others. Possibly because I found a few points a little far fetched.

The Prison is available now via Amazon online and all good book shops.

The Prisoner by B.A. Paris started strong however, I found it all got a bit far fetched and had a weak ending. That being said, it was suspenseful and full of twists and having enjoyed other books by B.A. Paris, I look forward to her next.

Amelie has always been a survivor, from losing her parents as a child in Paris to making it on her own in London. As she builds a life for herself, she is swept up into a glamorous lifestyle where she married the handsome billionaire Ned Hawthorne.
But then, Amelie wakes up in a pitch-black room, not knowing where she is. Why has she been taken? Who are her mysterious captors? And why does she soon feel safer here, imprisoned, than she had begun to feel with her husband Ned?

This is a really thrilling read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.

Amelie leaves home aged 16 when her father dies and moves to London where she struggles to get established until she is befriended and given a home by Carolyn. She becomes part of Carolyn's circle of friends who all work for Exclusives magazine, owned by the rich and libidinous Ned. After Amelie meets Ned at a party at the magazine he offers her a job and soon after asks her to accompany him on a work trip to Las Vegas. From there events rapidly become more and more complicated and threatening. This is a terrific thriller, a clever plot plenty to keep you guessing and exciting action. Best new thriller I've read this year.

Told in two different timelines, past and present, this easy read book with short chapters started off fast paced and captivated my interest, until it all became a bit too far fetched and unrealistic.

This isn't the best book from B A Paris but it isn't so bad that you should just dismiss it, I didn't love it but I also didn't hate it, it was just ok (in my opinion).

I’ve enjoyed other books by B A Oaris and thought this sounded intriguing. I was gripped by the opening chapter and drawn in to a complex story which, at times, left me wondering what was going on. The narrative is dual point, past and present, which allows the background the the present situation to be revealed bit by bit.

It’s quite a ride as a psychological thriller. The pacing switches between fast and slow which I found ideal as it kept me reading, keen to know where the story was leading. A few bits need you to suspend belief a little, but with enough twists which I didn’t see and a brilliant ending, this kept my attention throughout.

My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.

I am a huge fan of B.A Paris and I was very excited to get a chance to read and review The Prisoner. Initially, I wasn't sure how I felt about this book. It goes between past and present. I found myself loving the parts of the story set in the past but thought the present storyline was a bit slow. However, the book thats a huge twist and everything comes together perfectly. Needless to say I wasn't disappointed with this book in the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and B.A Paris for the opportunity to read and review this book.

When Amelie was a teenager her father passed away leaving her with little to no money. She decides to move to London where she struggles to survive sometimes having to sleep on the streets until she meets Carolyn who takes her under her wing and introduces her to a good group of friends. Enter Ned Hawthorpe who offers her a deal if she marries him he'll do whatever she asks of him. What could go wrong? Soon Amelie and Ned are kidnapped but will Amelie find out the reason why?

This starts with a bang straight away and you're gripped from the very first page. It alternates from past to present and you're just as clueless as Amelie which I enjoyed.

This was an enjoyable read and I recommend it to any one who enjoys B.A Paris
