This was everything I was hoping it would be and I’ll be needing all of the other books in this series as soon as I can get my hands on them!
A quick, fast pace, mystery, romance, spice, and memorable characters and this instantly made it to my reread list!
I don’t think it’s too much of a problem if you haven’t read the other books either? I got on fine in any case!

This book began my deep dive into the delicious world of Deception and Discipline! I discovered the author on Tiktok, and when I got the opportunity to begin reading her books I jumped at the chance! Evie was a fascinating character, and I found myself intrigued in her story from the beginning. Not to mention her chemistry with Anthony was off the freaking CHARTS. There was action, suspense, thrills, and oh so much spice.
My favorite touch is that Anthony really and truly sees her for all that she is, even when everyone else seems to gloss over. He embraces her completely, and disciplines when necessary. ;)
I received a copy of this book for free and am leaving an honest review.

This is the final book in the series, and I have been anticipating it since I read the first book and the h was introduced. Evie is the niece of the Spy Master for the Crown, but she was orphaned at a young age and fled to the streets of London. Her uncle searched for her and found her after several years, and she has been grateful since, but after scraping for survival and learning how to fade into the background to avoid being detected as a female, Evie has mastered the ability to take on personas and remain hidden while collecting vital facts and information. Though she has continually proven her worth as an equal to her uncle and cousins, she is still treated like the lady she technically is but long ago lost the desire to ever be.
In the previous books in the series, we are teased about Evie having met Captain Anthony Browne under ruinous circumstances, to say the least, and in book 4.5, (Spy Season), we are given that back story. I would highly recommend reading that novella before reading this book. In truth, I would recommend reading the whole series in order to get the full experience, but I would say that the novella is the most important before diving into this one.
The story starts off hot and fast, and things continue to move quickly throughout. My only complaint about this one (and really this series) is that the "who done it" was completely obvious from the start. I was waiting for there to be a twist or turn that would bring it all together and blow my mind, but it didn't happen, so that was a bit of a let down. Otherwise, this was a very enjoyable series with some mild elements of BDSM and a lot of steam!
Plot --- 4/5
Main Characters --- 4.25/5
Supporting Cast --- 4/5
Steam Level* --- 4.25/5 (LOTS of steam, early and often!)
Violence --- nothing egregious
Language --- some
POV --- Dual
*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild (nothing descriptive); 2/5 - 3rd base action/1 home run; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere (a couple of full-on steamy scenes); 4/5 - yes please! (erotica territory); 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

How have I missed this series? Honestly, why do I even wait when I see a Golden Angel book? If she writes it, I will read it. I do not need to read the blurb. No matter what genre or time period, her writing style speaks to me and the erotic scenes are sublime. This is the 4th book in the series and I found it to be easy to get right into it. It does make me want to go back and read the previous 3 books in the series.
How does one mix historical romance with erotica and then tie in suspense? Masterfully if the author is Golden Angel. I picked this book up because of the erotic theme. I was a bit iffy on the historical time period because I have moved away from historical romances. Turns out, I still love that time period, I just hadn't read many authors who can make it fresh and interesting. Ms. Angel bulldozers me down with intrigue, treason, and hella sexy erotica.
Evie is the niece of a Marquess. Due to some unforeseen circumstances when she was a child, she grew up less like a lady and more like a street urchin. This helps her accomplish what she wants to do... become the best spy for her uncle. What I like about Evie is that she is not perfect. In fact she is annoying in many ways with the chip on her shoulder so large, it sometime eclipses what good she can do. Her complete lack of understanding and empathy for her male relatives is a bit astounding for the time period she is in. I get her frustration. It also feels a bit too 21st century for me but it works. The one I feel for is Anthony Browne. He has never met the likes of Evie and talk about steamrolled...she just flattens him.
This story is less about women inequality for me and more about team work. Or lack there of... Evie is a force to be reckon with and she completely disregards teamwork and has no idea how to set up her case and persuade the men to work with her. Instead, she expects them to completely adjust to her and her way of doing things. She is a Team of I. Or as we say, there may be no I in team but there is a Me. What I found fascinating about this is that her style and arrogance is no different than what many males exhibit and whilst they may be admired, she is reviled. I found this provocative to be flipped in a way and wonder if people notice their unconscious biases. For me, the lack of team work regardless of sex is always a hot button for me. Working styles aside, the sex in this story is deliciously "Eyes Wide Shut" themed. Now I want to read the other books in the series and every other one in this series to come. The sex parties in Victorian era . . . tantalizing and kinky.
Ms. Angel creates another wonderful tale and I pine away for the next book in this series. This erotic romance is recommended to historical romance readers who want to kick it up a notch.

Golden Angel is the author for you if you are looking for a high steam historical. This is the first novel I have read from Golden Angel and it will certainly not be my last. I will note that this is a fourth book in a series, and although I was able to read it alright with out the knowledge of the others, I feel like I get them impression that there is a more overall connection between them especially around the spy aspects and the way that the hero and heroine first meet. I found Angel's writing to be intriguing and gripping, I love the way each chapter was set up with a title, it gave an air of charm. This book is well paced, well balance with spy intrigue and sensuality, and It was a lovely introduction to a new author I am definitely going to continue to explore from!
Evie is on the hunt for a traitor and she finds herself under the auspices of Captain Anthony, a man she once seduced and refused to become his mistress. But now that Anthony knows her true identity these two will play a cat and mouse game with each other as they work together to unmask the traitor.
This novel is fun, this novel is sexy, this novel is everything I would want in a historical spy novel. I love the interactions between Evie and Anthony, these two are so drawn to the other it is find to watch them operate around each other. This novel explodes with sensuality and Golden Angel takes care in this exploration. Evie is a bold heroine who takes her sensuality into her own hands and she will not be demeaned by anyone. Anthony and Evie really have a high respect and understanding for each other which we see grown and develop throughout their sensual interactions.
This was definitely highly enjoyable, and I hope a great conclusion to the series. Now off to explore more works from Golden Angel!

I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Evie is a spy whether her family likes it or not. Even though her family does not want her involved in the family business, she is determined to help.
Anthony was surprised to see Evie and to realize she was the niece of his employer and a marquess. Anthony gives in and allow Evie to help in his investigation to locate the traitor.
I liked that Anthony allowed evie freedom to be who she wanted to be even when her family disapproved.
There is plenty of BDSM in this book as well and Anthony is determined to discipline Evie for disobeying.
3.5 stars.

A Season For Spies is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. This steamy historical romance had me hooked from beginning to end and gave us Evie and Anthony's story, one that was engaging and intriguing, suspenseful and dramatic, steamy and humorous.
In a world ruled by men, I loved how bold and daring Evie was and how she defied her family's expectations at every turn yet got results where they couldn't in the spy business. I loved that Anthony was protective yet open minded towards Evie. These two were a perfect match and I loved seeing how their relationship evolved throughout the story. They had great banter, intense chemistry and explosive steamy scenes.
The secondary characters played a major part in this tale and added so much hilarity and helped move the story forward. The novel took us on quite an adventure, with twists and turns and unexpected surprises. It is the 4th book in the series but can be read as a standalone. It was a well-written tale and I would highly recommend it to lovers of historical romance.

Evie has finally caused her uncle, the Marquess of Camden and Spymaster to the Crown to finally put his foot down. If she is to participate in the hunt for the traitor, she will do so under the auspices of Captain Anthony Browne. Four years earlier, Evie seduced Anthony, after she saved his life in a French brothel. So when she is announced as the Spymaster’s niece, Anthony knows that he will exact some payback. Evie has no intention of marrying, even if the domineering Captain is the one man she has never been able to forget. She is intent on beating him, in the race to find the traitor. Yet their attraction is far greater than their competition and temptation will be hard to ignore.
This story has it all with plenty of suspense, humour and romance. Whilst it was part of a series, this could be read as a standalone book. The two main characters fairly sizzle when together, with engaging dialogue and plenty of passion. I was definitely entertained from start to finish.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Evie is not the demure miss that society wants her to be. She and Anthony shared a passionate night years ago that neither of them can forget. Wily and capable, she refuses to be shut out of Anthony’s scheme to capture a traitor. Can the two give up their fierce independence for the sake of love?
Golden Angel is a gifted author. This novel is the final book in a series best read in order. It’s a nice mix of suspense, love, and passion. The discipline scenes are steamy and consensual.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Evie gets her man! Evie has had an unusual upbringing and it shows in her manner. She only behaves because she doesn’t want to bring shame upon her uncle the Marquess of Camden who took her in and gave her a future. She is smart and a gifted mimic. She uses her skills in a most unladylike way to help her uncle the Queens spymaster. Evie met Captain Anthony Browne a couple of times in her alternate personalities and captivated him. This book has them meeting again with her as herself and oh my the fireworks between them. This is a fast-paced romp with a lot of steam and fun characters.

This is undoubtedly my favorite book of the series! And it has my favorite kind of discipline… The consensual one! The one the woman enjoys as much as the man giving it. The spy story is compelling and fast-pacing and the love story is an integral part of it. The heroine of the book is a real force of nature and the hero has some difficulties keeping up with her! And do read the little prequel novella about their first encounter in a French brothel, Spy Season. It’s so good and so hot! This entire series is a real treat and I can’t seem to get enough of it! Golden Angel has really found her feet with spy stories mixed with her particular brand of erotica. She’s a gorgeous writer! (And yes, I used a lot of exclamation marks in this review, but I couldn’t help myself with a book this good, it seems…)
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Even though I have only read one full and one novella of the previous books in this series, (books 1 and 3.5) I have to say Evie and Anthony’s story was the one I really wanted to read. It was as good as I was hoping it to be. I was already pretty intrigued with the snippets I read about Evie, but to get her full story made me love her so much more. She survived on the streets at such a young age and has become a force to be reckoned with as an adult. She has been instrumental in all of the previous books, so to finally read her story was fantastic. If you had read the previous novella, Spy Season, you know that the hero is Captain Anthony Browne and that they have already met before, and what a meeting that was! He was absolutely perfect for her.
In their story, we get to see their amazing chemistry develop into something so much more powerful. Their attraction is still strong as ever but they both say they do not want anything more permanent. But with every interaction, they realize how futile it is to fight how right they are for each other. This book is also full of non-stop action and adventure, re-appearances of previous favorite characters, and the spice was top-notch. I loved everything about this book and looking forward to reading more from this author. A definite 5-star read and I highly recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

An amazingly strong heroine, Evie Stuart is controlled by no one. She submits to no man’s control, but she finds herself wanting to submit to Anthony. These two come at everything in life as a challenge, and their relationship is no different. But they come to that challenge, perfectly matched, as equals. They learn the give and take required for happiness, in and out of the bedroom. They certainly heat up every page, but that does not detract from the ongoing intrigue of treason. The mystery surrounding that treachery leaves open so many wonderful opportunities for them to work together, and to know each other better than any other. A skillfully told story that ignites the passion and the mind. Evie and Anthony are utterly delicious!

Evie has tried to make a name for herself when comes to being involved in being a spy for her Uncle. The Marquess of Camden and the Spymaster to the Crown is putting his foot down once and for all. If Evie wants to participate in the hunt for the traitor, she will do so under the auspices of Captain Anthony Browne... the man who once asked her to be his mistress after she seduced him. Not that she ever told her uncle about the encounter. But now the captain knows her true identity and there's going to be a passionate price to pay for her trickery. Captain Anthony Browne finally learned the identity of the mysterious tart who saved his life in a French brothel four years ago. But the last place he expected to find the lovely lightskirt with whom he shared a single night of pleasure is the Marquess of Camden's niece.
Evie has no intention of marrying, even if the domineering Captain is the one man she has never been able to forget. Her only wish is to beat him and everyone else to the traitor. Though the competition between them is fierce their attraction is even more powerful, and temptation is becoming harder and harder to resist. I really enjoyed this story, with its twist, and turns and passion. I would recommend this book, but please read the other books in the series first, it helps understand them things. This is my honest review, I got an advanced copy for NetGalley.

This story just hooked me in right from the start and I couldn't put it down as it kept my attention right until the last page. Golden Angel is an amazing writer. She certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I definitely recommend you read this book and you will not be disappointed.

Deception and Discipline has been a great series and this is a most fitting end. Evie and Anthony meet again but under different circumstances and her real identity is revealed. The spy business is not just for men and Evie is determined for her uncle to recognize her value. But that does not come easily and in the end she is acknowledged for her contributions. The story is full of action while they fill try to capture the traitor and keep everyone safe. I love Evie’s character and the self assuredness. There is humor all throughout the story which adds to it. Anthony is wonderful in how tries to keep Evie safe but he is no match for her tenacity and quick mind. I loved this story and all the characters as they added so much to the storyline. This is a book that is definitely worth reading and one I would highly recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and are voluntarily leaving a review.

good story. I enjoyed the characters. It flowed well. Kept me engaged through out the story. definately a suspenseful story

This is more a mystery than a.love story. Evie wants to solve the mystery and so does Anthony.
Perpetually vexed by his misbehaving niece, the Marquess of Camden and Spymaster to the Crown is putting his foot down once and for all. Though Miss Evie Stuart refuses a debut, her dear Uncle Oliver insists that she formally enter noble society this Season. Evie would prefer to continue the years-long search for the traitor in their midst, but following the available clues leads her to concede that a Season by her uncle's side might bring her ever closer to her ultimate goal. As the traitor hides among Society, Evie will reluctantly assume her ultimate role as a Lady of the Ton.
After much confusion and frustration, Captain Anthony Browne finally learns the identity of the mysterious tart who saved his life in a French brothel four years ago. But the last place he expected to find the lovely lightskirt with whom he shared a single night of pleasure is at the Marquess of Camden's side, where she is announced as the Spymaster's niece. With only one honorable way forward, Anthony accepts his fate. Taking a bride was not in his plans, but he could do much worse than an adventuress who shares his goal of finally capturing the traitor, and doesn't mind testing his desire for control.
Evie, however, has no intention of marrying, even if the domineering Captain is the one man she has never been able to forget. Her only wish is to beat him and everyone else to the traitor. Though the competition between them is fierce, their attraction is even more powerful, and a scintillating scandal threatens to force them together 'til death do they part.
I have read books by Golden Angel before but have never reviewed one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

This is the first series in this trope that I've read by Golden Angel. It's not my typical read in the romance genre and I completely enjoyed it. Lot's of friendship, mystery, and steam to make a read that was hard to put down. It's an excellent series, but this book could be read as a standalone. You would miss out on the details of the overall storyline and the other character's HEA stories. That would be a shame I look forward to reading more books by Golden Angel.
*Thank you Netgalley, The Next Step PR, and Golden Angel for the ARC of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review.

The final installment in the Deception and Discipline series by Golden Angel is finally here and what a good way to end this series!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.
To completely grasp the story and the amount of characters you would have to read the rest of the series aswell.
I liked that there was a list of all the characters because it can be easy to lose track of who is who. Even when you’ve read all of the books it could be confusing.
Finally we get to see the story of Evie and Anthony. For the best effect I would really recommend you also read the novella Spy Season which contains the first 2 encounters between Evie and Anthony.
I loved that we got to see more of Evie’s character and she was exactly like I imagined her to be. After her parents died she was supposed to go to her uncle who is the crown’s spymaster. Unfortunately while waiting for her uncle she ended up with an awful woman which made her flee to live on the streets for 4 years. Thank god Tramp found her! Eventually she was saved from the streets (but only because she wanted to be found, it’s still Evie!).
Anthony is one of the agents of Evie’s uncle and because Evie can’t butt out of her uncle’s business he is the one who gets to babysit her and include her in the ride. Anthony sees and knows what she is capable of though.
This book is full of action and full of spice. I loved the scenes and the dynamic between Evie and Anthony and seeing them coming to terms that they love each other. The smut is amazing in this book and of course the Society of sin comes into play again.
I still can’t wrap my head around that storyline with Joseph. I really wanted to punch him in the face and yell at him. I also really felt that it was implied that Joseph’s wife was involved in the scheme and that confused me somewhat when she wasn’t. Maybe I’ve just read to many spy/crime stories where I can’t trust any character. I’m glad though that I read that Joseph and Priscilla get their own little novella story, and I really want to read that!
Overall this is a great conclusion to this series which I very much enjoyed.
