This book is perfect for any feminist who loves a good contemporary story. If you are angry and upset about any of the misogyny in the world and want to live vicariously through a funny and lighthearted novel, this is for you.

I loved how it didn't take itself too seriously. Kitty is an influencer. She an instagram star and is vegan. Vegan but gets her thills from killing men in a variety of ways. And despite the subject matter it was a very easy to read, quite cosy book. It was really nice to sink into and have something that was relatable and just not too realistic.

The characters were probably a bit shallow, but in this sort of book, that didn't really matter. They weren't meant to be really deep, thought out characters, it's just not that sort of book.

This book was just exactly what I needed right now.

I loved this book!!! It was clever and witty and a bit of a twist on the female vigilante story. Kitty is sarcastic, a bit cold and most importantly tired of men's B.S. Her happy influencer status is the perfect mask to get away with you guessed it...murder. The creeps, the abusers, the cheaters are all no match for her. There is only one problem (ok maybe more than one) she has a stalker who knows EVERYTHING and is blackmailing to expose her.
I enjoyed the extra layer of the mystery in the plot here. There was also the small addition of romance, which felt necessary to give Kitty a bit more dimension. It helped her seem less heartless.
Now is this book a bit over the top? Sure, but it was fast paced and thrilling and the ending was GOOD.

Sadly not for.

I was drawn by the title and the beautiful cover. The book definitely had potential but it felt flat for me on many levels.

I found kitty experiment annoying and obnoxious. Her militant veganism paired with what she does was amusing but also she made vegans look like maniacs. There's also the fact that she pretends to "save" women from the men to justify her murders, but she's also condescending towards basically every woman she encounters. Why bother "helping" women if you can't stand any of them. She also constantly shames one of her best friends for having an eating disorder.

The plot took forever to come about and I was about to DNF at the point that it did come about. Kitty’s background story didn't feel like it fully supported her reasoning for her crimes when she was older. And as for her crimes, they were entirely unrealistic. I feel like the author tried to use technology she wasn't familiar with (like tinder, etc.) and it made it feel very fake and staged. Kitty was also very sloppy and I feel like someone definitely would have put two and two together and at least realised there was a vigilante serial killer.

Overall, if you have any interest in forensics or have a scientific mind, I don’t think you’ll enjoy this book. If you like influencers, brands, or the Chelsea set, you probably will. I probably just overthought it too much to be able to enjoy it.

Sadly not for me

The story is all about the world of influencers, dating apps and social media so I’m probably a few decades too old to really get it. I rarely abandon books as it feels like a personal failure but I couldn’t identify with characters and the story felt trite and didn’t pull me in.

I’ve given it two stars as I thought the story was inventive in that it took the world of social media and used it’s dark side as the basis for the story. Just not for me.

I was given this book from the author via netgalley only for the pleasure of reading and leaving an honest review should I choose to.

Kitty is a wealthy British influencer who appears to be living her best life alongside her gal friends. But just because she's a girly-girl doesn't mean she can't take care of herself. When a man takes things too far, Kitty is quick to react - and accidentally ends his life. It was self-defense, but does she really want the attention? She rationalizes that he wasn't a good guy anyways. After the police don't come after her, Kitty takes a look around and sees how many other not-so good guys could use a wake-up call....

I love the cover art, it drew me in right away. I was expecting a fluffier tone and was surprised by the themes. It's a dark comedy that really leans into the messier and more complex parts of Kitty's character. Although the pacing was good it felt repetitive in some of the middle parts. Kitty also had wayy to easy of a time chopping up these lads. I feel like I may have missed something with the veganism point? Not sure if it was supposed to highlight the contrast in her morals or not but I feel like there was too much focus on it. I thought it would have a bigger play. I did appreciate the #metoo aspects and how it drove Kitty in a different way from her childhood origin story.

I think this would be a fun read for a gals book club!

An influencer who accidentally kills then does it again? Intriguing. This book was good and I did enjoy some parts. Dark humour and some disturbing scenes this would be the perfect read for autumn/halloween time. Trigger warnings for SA and revenge killing so do be careful going into this one.

Not sure what is says about me that I love an edgy and snarky serial killer, but when this one describes death as “a rather pretty palette”, I was a goner!

Kitty is a strong and highly intelligent woman desperately seeking respite from tedious conversations with vapid people. How she concludes that taking on the mantel of murderess is the way to cope is for me to know and you to find out!

Kitty stumbles into her first murder, quite literally in fact. With the first done and dusted, so to speak, her life’s purpose arrives in a aha moment. Someone needs to eliminate these men who think they can continue to misbehave with no consequences. Why not her? A socialite influencer and part time vegan with time to spare.

Juggling the demands of a newly minted serial killer amid the required thought one must give to the flourishes at her crime scenes, Kitty still finds time to date. To those men I say this, tread lightly. And be afraid, be very afraid.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I loved it. This story is basically inspired by the #metoo movement and what would happen if a woman started Dexter Style killing men who are sexual predators. It does remind me a lot of Dexter, as there are many points in this book that we are following her living a normal life. Being a rich influencer on Instagram and finding new love..

This book is dark and I'd say there are definitely sexual assault triggers. The murders done by Kitty can be a bit gruesome. But none of it took away from my enjoyment of the book. Although dark, there is a bunch of dark humour mixed in.

I'd recommend this book to people who enjoyed the show Dexter and looking for a woman's take on it.

DNF. I found this to be unnecessarily graphic and also unnecessarily focused on veganism which in no way contributed to the plot of the book.

Well this was an interesting read at first I didn't know what to make of this and thought this was going to be a dnf book but then it got much better. There were traces of dexter but also references to the me too movement. It was written in a fun way and made it easy to read and I just devoured it in one afternoon.

The IT girl references did make me laugh.

Just loved the ending

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

I didn’t read the synopsis it was the cover which drew me in. As I started reading this, the plot moved very quickly and the story became so interesting. I loved the short chapters, with titles for where the chapter is set. The story was really easy to follow and all the characters were very likeable. I guessed some of the story before it was revealed but that didn’t spoil anything, however there were plenty of twists which I didn’t see coming. Not that I would’ve gone so far as Kitty’s actions, I could completely sympathise with her anger and frustration leading to the crimes. This was a breath of fresh air and very entertaining particularly having a woman breaking the stereotype of being the strong leading character.

The title of this book alone is brilliant and will pull you in - but the story is even better. Well paced, great characters this dark comedy is a great read. The story pulled me in from the beginning and had me engaged the entire time. It was also so much fun to read this in front of my husband, who asked if it was fiction or an instruction manual.
If you're looking for a fun, quick read - this is the one.

I was pulled into this book just from the title alone! We meet Kitty, instagram influencer who hates men who treat women badly. She makes them pay. This is dark comedy at its finest.

The book was paced so well and I did not want to put it down! Kitty was an unreliable narrator but that made this oh so much more fun.

Loved this and I am looking forward to more from Katy Brent

This is the book title to read on a crowded subway - but it was wicked, funny and is an absolute ironic girl power novel More please just like this - I can't get enough!

Ladies, from the title alone this is an instant MUST READ lol. If you're a fan of shows like Dexter or just like a little extra dark humor with your coffee in the morning, I think this book will be for you. I loved the commentary on men, toxic masculinity, male entitlement, etc. most of which I think readers will be nodding their heads along with. My only critique is I thought the influencer trope was a little overdone but it didn't hinder my enjoyment whatsoever. Pick up this book today if you love to see men get their justice, you won't regret it!

3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

Kitty Collins is one of the most famous influencers in London. It doesn't hurt that she is the granddaughter of Captain Collins who founded the multimillion dollar company Collins' Cuts, a meat company featured heavily in the UK. Besides shopping and posting about her life, Kitty does have another hobby. She refuses to let men that have or try to hurt women get away with it. If they would just apologize it would be okay but it's not her fault that the first kill was an accident, right?

I do think where I rated this book lower was the lack of anything new. I have read My Sister the Serial Killer, watched Dexter, and am familiar with Killing Eve (both of which the author credited in her author's note) and did not feel like this book added anything new to it. I also wasn't really a fan of the ending twist and overall felt that the ending was on 2x speed. That being said, I did think that Kitty was a fun main character and it's always fun to read a story about influencers for fun. I think that if you don't think too hard about the logistics of this novel you'll have fun!

This was an OK read, I didn't really vibe with it personally, but I'm sure it will appeal to others. I really wanted to love this one, it sounded like such a fun read, was just a bit darker than I expected.

I was provided with an ARC of How to Kill Men and Get Away with It by Katy Brent via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This book was definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions and events. If you get angry at misogyny and garbage men you might enjoy this book and the justice (although I'm not sure "justice" is the right word to use here due to it being morally and ethically questionable) the main character, Kitty, doles out throughout the book.

That being said, it is very graphic and has triggering content. Some parts were difficult to read because of the detail some of the scenes went into. Overall, I feel like there was a good dose of humor to try and balance out the darkness as the story went on. So if you have a morbid sense of humor you might also enjoy this book.

I was left on the edge of my seat the further into the story I got and was left frequently wondering how in the world Kitty managed to remain undetected with the exception of her "stalker" knowing her every move. I question why Kitty didn't confront them or try and discover who exactly they were earlier on. Granted she did have a lot on her plate. When the stalkers identity was revealed I was surprised because I didn't see it coming.

In the end I'm relieved this is a fictional story and although there are real garbage humans doing garbage things to other humans in the world (seriously- stop it, garbage humans!) Kitty is fictional. If she were real, I'd hate to get on her bad side!
