This was a really interesting look at a variety of mathematical topics and functions. I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject myself, so this felt like something easy to dip in and out of when interested. It doesn't go into a huge amount of detail or overcomplicate things, so it's easy to digest and doesn't feel too dry or boring.

I think DK do a lot of really accessible books on a variety of topics, and I'm glad I was able to take a look at this one in advance - I think this one will be enjoyed by hobbyists, students and life-long learners, and will be a nice addition to anyone's non-fiction shelf!

Thanks to NetGally and DK for letting me access the ARC - my opinions are my own, honest, and freely given.

The furthest I got with maths was a D at A Level, so I would say better than average but not particularly skilled, and I barely remember any of the more complicated aspects anymore. So this book by DK is actually a surprisingly nice read. I love DK books in general and am always on the lookout to add more to my collection and this is a nice and useful book that covers enough of the basics of maths for you to be able to follow it whilst still learning and bringing your skills up to a solid baseline. It isn't a book that is going to turn you into a maths expert, but it is one that can get you to a competent enough level without being too tedious. The layout and design of the book is lovely and really does help prevent what can be a pretty dry subject from being too boring!

Simply Maths is an excellent source material for anyone looking to better understand mathematical theories and maths. The book is well-researched and easy to understand. There is even some history of maths included. Highly recommended!

One of my friends often struggles to find the right English words for math related terms. This book has helped her & me learn Math in English from the very beginning. We know 98% of the knowledge taught in the book before reading it, and now We know how to talk about them in English more confidently.
(Thanks to DK & Net Galley for this Book).

A simple book that manages to contain so much about Maths and mathematical theories. It is presented with plenty of visual aids and the explanations are concise and clear. I have just ordered a copy for my school library because I was so impressed with it.

Having taught maths at secondary level for 35 years I'm always interested to check out books that reveal information about a subject I love. Unfortunately this book fell a little short. The book covers a wide range of mathematical information, however it is all at surface level and misses the opportunity to explore some areas in more depth. For example on the topic of fractions there is a brief mention of how to carry out the four operations with basic fractions but it fails to touch on mixed numbers or improper fractions.

I did like the snippets of historical information that were linked to some of the topics.

The muted colours of the illustrations didn't really work.

This isn't a textbook, very little about the processes for solving problems is mentioned. As a reference book this doesn't really work as it is too basic, it's more like a mathematical dictionary that isn't in alphabetical order.
