Fun young chapbook, with the twist on Cinderella including a TV addict of a Fairy Godmother who has to be goaded into doing anything at the right time, and a fairy who cannot tell the time, hence the mix-up with the midnight deadline. So you get the basic story, if not really from Cinderella's viewpoint, a lesson about forgiving the elderly their flaws and the moral that it's better to just ask for help as opposed to becoming fully unstuck. All that makes it a worthwhile telling, however clunky it might seem, and whatever little it actually twists of the source story.

Thank you so much to DK Publishers and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

It’s the night before Cinderella is to go to the Princes ball and fairy godmother keeps forgetting everything, so fairy queen Tatiana asks young fairy Verity to help make sure Cinderella gets to the ball on time, but verity can’t tell the time. She’s worried she will make them all late.

This was so adorable it was so happy and cheerful, Verity is such a positive and happy fairy she finds good everywhere she goes, she’s willing to help and be kind. I really liked this twist on the fairy tales adding in fairies that help them and having these stories be about the young fairies.

It was so cute, the illustrations were adorable and the story was so much fun, and really funny in places too with fairy godmother being messy and a bit ditzy not remembering anything. I liked that Cinderella’s fate was left to Verity and she worked hard to make things happen.

This is such an adorable book, so much fun to read and really easy too. It would be a great early reader for younger children, that are just starting to read with confidence. The story was really precious, the illustrations were pretty and the characters were all sweet.

I received a free copy of, Verity Fairy: Cinderella, by Caroline Wakemen, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I loved Cinderella as a kid, this is a great remake, I really enjoyed seeing Fairy Tale Kingdom, what a wonderful place to live. I really enjoyed this book, kids will really enjoy it to.
