This is a beautiful, large Coffee table book. Its main part is a detailed coverage of many species of the world, each with a clear image and map and basic information. The species are organized systematically and there are also decent, short descriptions of most families (e.g., anatomy, behaviours). There also is an excellent introduction on general bird biology and world habitats.
(Many Thanks to Net Galley & DK for this Book!)

Many thanks to DK for the advanced copy of Bird via NetGalley, in return for my honest and unbiased review.

This is a beautifully presented book with mostly high quality, up-to-date images. Occasionally there are lower quality and/or badly edited photos added in, which is puzzling, as mostly they are for common species, for which there are many high-quality images available.

Other than this one little bug-bear, the updated information on the new classifications and the helpful introduction with the basics on birds on the whole before launching into all the species, by taxonomic order, is presented clearly.

The occasional full-page photo is enough to make you go “wow” and this would make a lovely gift for the bird lover in your life and an excellent coffee table book…if you’re a bird nerd like me!

This book is perfect for any bird lover. It contains a lot of information from bird's anatomy to information about birds in particular like guineafowl, swans and many others. I am sure it makes a perfect coffee table book too. The photos in the book are amazing.
